Chapter 34: Patience & Perseverance is Rewarded with Happiness

Hello everyone! BRO IT'S THE LAST CHAPTER ; -;. There will be an Epilogue, buT STILL. Anyway, no need for emotions, except the ones you will feel in the chapter-

XD Enjoy!!

Zoey finished plopping a folded shirt on her bed. After hearing a jingle of keys, the door swung open. Her soon-to-be husband walked in, tossing the keys into a small bowl on the table. Hey," Zoey breathed, "how's Adrien?"

"Doing better," he replied. "His journal is coming along, even though we can't see it."

"That's good," Zoey sighed. "Where is he staying now?"

"Oh, at his friend's house for now," Quinton sighed, "I think her name is Marinette?"

Zoey nodded. "Did you hear about the news about the Agreste Mansion being torn down?"

Quinton looked up the news on his phone. "Oh, they're converting it into a public area," Quinton corrected, "seems about right."

"Adrien doesn't seem very upset about it," he added. "Though, he had been good at hiding his emotions."

"Why would he really be happy?" Zoey says. "Those walls stored a lot of unhappy memories."

Quinton shrugged. "I suppose that's a way to look at it."

They both went silent, Zoey dropping the empty laundry basket onto the floor. "Is his place at Marinette's house permanent?" She whispered.

"Not that I know of," Quinton sighed, "he could always stay here." He finally says, sensing Zoey was too nervous to.

Zoey paused. "We do both have our jobs now," she sighed, "and because of the shot, we don't really have..."

Zoey pinched the bridge of her nose. "Yeah, I don't think I can say it."

Quinton sighed sadly. "That boy really caused us some trouble," he noted. "But, I still have to say I love him."

Zoey nodded in agreement. She hugged Quinton, resting her chin on his shoulder. "That boy caused himself trouble, as well."

Adrien sat in Marinette's desk chair. "Okay, so Alya's invited us for ice cream later," he noted. "So if we get this math work done, then we can leave."

Marinette groaned loudly. "Can we just go and skip the math?"

Adrien chuckled. "C'mon, we'll do it together," he says. "It'll be easy."

Both of their heads lifted at the sound of the doorbell. Marinette went down to check it, Adrien trailing close behind. Her parents weren't home, and it could have been the order that the Boujerois family had made earlier that week.

Adrien opened the door. "Zoey? What are you doing here?"

Zoey smiled and waved. "Could I talk with your for a moment, Adrien?" She says. "I promise, it won't take long - don't want to interrupt you two."

Ghosse flew into his jacket, Marinette shutting the door. Zoey and Adrien began to walk, making their way to the town square without exchanging a word.

"Where are we going?" Adrien finally asked.

"We're just meeting with someone, so we're heading up to the bridge," she says. "But, I'll tell you a little bit."

"So, a little birdie told me you're staying with your friend," Zoey smiled.

Adrien nodded. "Yeah, the Dupain-Chengs' are really nice for letting me stay there. Even after they heard their daughter had gotten amnesia..."

Zoey nodded sadly. "How's that going?" She darted off-topic.

"It's going pretty good," Adrien put simply. "But, what were you saying before?"

"Right," she mumbled. "I- well, me and Quinton, was going to have our kid." She started. "So, we are both financially stable, and switched houses to have an extra two bedrooms."

Adrien nodded, not wanting to say what he thought she was suggesting. "So, are you planning to try and have another kid?" He proposed, even though he knew it wasn't this at all.

Zoey giggled. "That's one way to word it."

They got onto the bridge, Quinton walking over to them. "Hey Adrien," he smiled, "how are you doing?"

"I-I'm doing great," he says. "Uhm, what about you?"

Quinton nodded, "great as well."

Zoey bit her lip. "But, we are just proposing the idea of you staying with us."

She then went into ramble mode. "Absolutely no pressure, we are just giving you the option. You'll always be welcome in our home, so if you need one, we're free."

Adrien smiled widely. "R-Really?"

Quinton nodded. "Of course."

Adrien stared at them, dumbstruck. "But, I made both of your lives so bad," he then spat. "I-I..."

He cleared his throat. "Why do you want me to live with you?"

Quinton sighed. "Those "bad" things were out of your control. Your father was the reason for most of those decisions - nothing had been your fault."

"And besides," Quinton continued, "you're practically a kid of ours already."

Adrien smiled at the two. "I- thank you. I'd love to live with your both."

Zoey hugged Adrien, Quinton joining in after a quick debate in his mind. Adrien hugged them both tightly.

So this is what love feels like... Adrien smiled wider. I like it.

Adrien laughed loudly, Nino patting his back. "Someone is sugar-high," Nino chuckled.

"Or just high," Alya joked, "did you see what Andre put into your ice cream?"

Marinette giggled. "Yeah, Adrien," she teased.

Adrien wiped a pretend tear from his eye. "Oh, how you guys hurt me."

Marinette laughed. "It's so weird," she breathed, "I feel like I've known you guys for a long time."

She then paused. "You guys said I knew you all before I forgot everything, right?"

Adrien nodded sadly. "But, no harm in doing it all over again," he smiled, "we get to make even more memories with Marinette 2.0!"

Marinette smiled sadly, "everything is happening fast," she then smirked, "but I like it that way."

Alya giggled, "I think you're still the same Marinette you were before. You're still clumsy like to bake, and are obsessed over a certain ex-model," she glanced at Adrien.

Adrien rolled his eyes playfully. "So, you did have a crush on me. Huh."

"I still do not know to this day how you did not know," Alya shook her head in shock. "It was so damn obvious."

"Oh wait," Alya squeaked, "come on! Sunset lighting - the best time to take a picture!"

Adrien chuckled. They all got together as Alya snapped the picture.

Adrien smiled.

Marinette pecked his lips as his eyes widened. "P-PRINCESS!?"

Marinette giggled, "you taste like vanilla."

Adrien smiled fondly. "If that's your way of saying 'I love you', then I love you too, my lady."

***
Is it guilty to admit that I felt so happy?

Adrien thought.

It's been such a long time. I live with Zoey and Quinton, and I even got a job at Marinette's bakery to help them with bills. They told me I don't have to work, but I had to insist.

I used to wish I could take happy moments and freeze in them so I could just live like that.

But I don't want to do that. Not when there are so many more happy moments to live in real-time.
