Chapter 33: The End of Adrien's Cursed Fate
Hey everyone! Clippy checking in. So, this chapter was actually nice to write. It was fun for me, but let's see if you guys like what happens ;)
Well, without further ado, let's begin! Enjoy!
Marinette tossed Adrien a playful glance, her eyes drifting down to the earrings in her palms. Adrien sucked in a breath. "Let's see if miracles can happen-"
A gust of wind blew swirling white magic, causing everyone's eyes to shut tightly. Marinette fell onto the ground, Adrien covering his ears tightly with his palms.
"WHAT IS THAT!?" Adrien screamed, feeling as if his eardrums were to burst. "The miracle god's power!" Gladde squealed, "they are fixing the damage - as Marinette had said!"
The magic slowed to a steady stop, the Paris monument being lifted to its tall position once more. Adrien sucked in a breath, the sun peeking from the corner of the sky.
"It's over," Adrien breathed, "it's all over."
The superheroines started to cheer; Adrien, helping Marinette stand up. "That was amazing!" She practically jumped up. "It just fixed all the damage!"
Adrien tossed a small smile, "it was amazing," he whispered. Adrien glanced further, looking at his classmates.
They had forgotten Marinette was Ladybug; all the power that the miracle gods had unleashed.
"Come on, Marinette." Adrien tugged on her hand. Marinette followed him, both crawling into a dark alleyway. "I still don't understand," he turned to the kwamis, "if everything returned to normal, why do I still remember she is Ladybug?"
He made sure to whisper the last part of his sentence. "Because," Ghosse started, "Marinette had told you after your damage was done. You gave her the earrings, idiot."
"Geez, so rude," Adrien rolled his eyes. Gladde giggled, "don't mind him, he's a grump." "Yeah, he's worse than-" Adrien caught himself, clearing his throat, "...Plagg..."
Gladde's expression turned sympathetic, "we're also sad about the death of the two past kwamis." Ghosse crossed his arms, turning around so he couldn't see his face.
"Uhm," Marinette finally spoke up, "what do these earrings do?" Marinette giggled nervously, "by all of this, I think these are more than just regular jewelry."
Adrien chuckled, "definitely." "Put them on," Adrien urged, "I'll teach you how to use them." "Besides," Adrien breathed, "we need to give this miraculous box back to the guardian."
"You mean you?" Ghosse scoffed.
"I- WHAT?" Adrien screamed, "oh freaking hell no, I am not guardian material in the slightest."
"Well, unless you want to forget everything, you have no choice." Ghosse scoffed.
Gladde hit his shoulder, then sighing. "Well, sometimes when cast with a large responsibility, it makes you feel more worthy if you start with a bang."
Adrien rubbed his temples, Marinette putting in the earrings. "What do I do now?" Marinette whispered nervously, feeling bad for interrupting. "Oh," Adrien breathed, "say the transformation words that Gladde gives you."
"Say, Gladde, spots on!" Adrien made a mental note; the transformation words were the same. "Spots on-"
Marinette whirled into Ladybug, Adrien covering her mouth to prevent her scream. "Oh my god," she steadied her breathing, "what the hell was that." Adrien laughed, "that was your transformation to your superheroine-self."
Adrien smirked, "what do you think you should name yourself?"
"Ladybug," she smirked, "I know that was my name before, I don't go deaf when you talk to the floating bug-mice."
Adrien chuckled, "kwamis is the proper term," he remarked with a smile. "Right," Ladybug breathed, "kwamis."
"You'll get the terms eventually," Adrien breathed, "but for now we should just take a small stroll."
"Like a walk?" Ladybug questioned shyly. Adrien smirked, "something a bit more... ambitious."
Adrien transformed into Chat Noir, Ladybug's jaw-dropping in the process. "My superhero name is Chat Noir," he informed her, Ladybug nodding. "That's so cool." Ladybug managed to breathe out.
Chat Noir helped her wrap her yo-yo string around one of the buildings, Ladybug tugging on it to check its strength.
All of a sudden, it flung her off the ground.
"AHHHH!"
"LADYBUG- I- KEEP LOOKING FORWARD!" Chat cut himself off, chasing after her on his baton.
Ladybug steadied herself on the rooftop, Chat Noir clinging to her right hand. "This is amazing," she told him, even though she knew he had seen everything before. "I agree." Chat Noir whispered.
Chat Noir got a call alert from the hospital on his baton. "Hello," he breathed, his eyes then widening. "What's wrong?" Ladybug asked worriedly.
"Zoey," Chat Noir breathed, "my psychiatrist..."
Ladybug paused. "Yes?"
"She woke up from her coma..."
Ladybug smiled largely, leaping into a big hug with her partner. "That's even more amazing!" She screamed, Chat finally having the reaction to hug her back. "They need us there immediately," Chat Noir stammered, "but, I need to make something right first."

Adrien played with a pen, sitting lonely at his desk. Zoey had told him to write a journal of what had happened, to keep a better track of his thoughts.
The last week has been... amazing.
He scribbled down, needing to write more.
Quinton was released from jail...he actually forgave me! I should have never let him get framed, I was so stupid... That may or may not be a good thing to say.
Zoey finally woke up, I missed her so much. I felt so sorry for her baby, she is still recovering with Quinton as I speak...er write. I am so thankful for having my sessions back, I never knew how much I missed them until I realize how precious life was.
Marinette...I still love her. She is getting to know me every day, but still, everyone loses something in a memory wipe. She is becoming more and more confident as Ladybug...she is becoming the past girl that Chat Noir had fallen head over heels for! But, as it stands, I am still in love with Marinette and Ladybug; both being the same person. I think she may like me too...but I can never be too careful. I do not want to freak her out; she still only "met" me 3 weeks ago.
My father... how do I begin.
***
Adrien stood outside, watching his father get dragged into the police vehicle. "A-Adrien," Gabriel spat, "you are just going to leave me like this?"
Adrien sucked in a breath, Marinette rubbing his shoulder. "This may be the last time you can confront him," she reminded steadily, "get what you can off your chest."
Adrien nodded, turning to face Gabriel.
"You mean the same way you left me alone in my room? The same way you let my mental state be bruised by your punches and kicks?"
"I know you were hurting because of mom. It never meant you had to hurt me. Father, you just let me rot in my room while I hurt myself, and you made me believe it was my fault."
Adrien sucked in a breath.
"I'm on my road to recovery, but because of you, you are making it so much harder. Every whistle of the wind, every gesture someone may make, it feels like someone is going to hurt and betray me all over again."
"I hope that this will be our last interaction. I don't need your toxic mindset around mine anymore. I realize it's bad, and I'm trying to get better..."
Adrien couldn't manage to speak another word.
"And, unlike you," Marinette finished for him, "we will actually be here for Adrien. And give him love; something that you have not given to him these past months."
Gabriel was shoved into the car unable to protest, Marinette sucking in a breath.
"I-I hope that was okay-"
Adrien hugged her tightly, "thank you, Marinette."
She hugged him back, "of course."
***
Adrien continued to write down his thoughts, Ghosse hovering over his shoulder.
I'm glad that he is gone. It feels weird to say since he is still my father, but I understand he is not good for me. I am definitely still broken, and my mindset still wants me to drift away into another harmful state, but it can't.
Well, more like I will not let it. Marinette, Zoey, Quinton, Nino, Alya... these are all people I have come to cherish in my life. They make me...happy. I want to be there... I want to be there so I can be their friend, and love them like my family.
This is my path to recovery. I'm still a broken mess...but I'm trying to turn my open wounds into scars. Maybe, one day, the scars will fade. But, we'll have to wait on that.
Adrien closed the book; that was enough feel-sy stuff for one day.
Hehe. So, Adrien is keeping a journal, and now you get to see what the present time is now. Adrien is definitely not completely better, and he will not be by the end of this book. But, he is in a better place...but let's see what happens next ;)
But, as always, if you want to find out...stay tuned! Have a good day/night :)
