Chapter 3: Lovely Ladybug

"Adrien, I have something to tell you," Marinette stammered as Adrien looked at her. "What is it?" he asked genuinely. "I...I love-" the bell interrupted Marinette. "Oh no! We're going to be late," Adrien exclaimed as they both stood up.

"What was it you were saying, Marinette?" Adrien asked as they walked through the doors. "I...um," she stammered. "I love that we're even closer now," she smiled sweetly. He returned it. "Me too," he responded.

He felt happier than most times when he was with friends, like Marinette. He was then brought back down when he remembers the huge assignment due today. Without an A, his father would surely bring him back to homeschooling.

He hesitantly walked into the classroom and sat in his usual seat beside Nino. Nino was preparing his cue cards, as Adrien searched his bag for his. Plagg noticed his owner's frustration and helped him search.

Damn it.

He had forgotten them at home; probably under his history textbook. He facepalmed himself, hoping that he wouldn't get his name called. Plagg mouthed an apology as Adrien zipped his bag, praying to not be called.

"Settle down, class," Miss Bustier smiled and clapped her hands. "I will be selecting our presenters by random, using this wheel," Miss Bustier gestured to the screen. Adrien's classmates whispered, as Adrien did a silent prayer.

"Mylene!" Miss Bustier exclaimed as Adrien sighed. He estimated that only eight presenters could go at a time, and now there was only seven. "Okay," Mylene prepared her cards as all her friends gave her a reassuring gesture.

"For my project, I decided to..." Mylene introduced and explained her topic. Adrien felt that her words were blurred by the panic and stress Adrien was thinking of.

You disappointed me once again, Adrien. You don't deserve to be called and 'Agreste'.

His father's words echoed in his head as the sweat started to form on his forehead. "Don't be nervous, dude," Nino said, unaware of the situation. Adrien half smiled. "Thanks," he replied softly.

"Very good, Mylene. Thank you for presenting," Miss Bustier, along with the rest of the class, praised. Mylene nodded her head and went back to her seat, as Adrien's eyes followed her.

"Okay," Miss Bustier switched the screen back to the wheel. Adrien felt his heart pounding out of his chest, as the wheel spun. Maybe, it will be okay. Maybe the universe will give me mercy-

"Adrien!" Miss Bustier smiled.

Adrien cursed multiple swear words in his head as he stood up. His legs felt stiff as Miss Bustier smiled. "M-Miss B-Bustier," Adrien stammered as she perked up. "Hmm?" she replied. "I-I, um," he felt like passing out.

"Adrien, you don't look well," Miss Bustier interrupted. "Adrien, are you okay?" Marinette asked making him turn around. "I...I, Marinette, princess," he felt the world move around him. It felt as if he was floating in space, and everyone around him was enclosed in a small room.

"Help!" Adrien spat, falling onto the ground. Marinette rushed to his side, as Nino dialed 9-1-1. "Adrien!" Marinette cried. In, Marinette's eyes, she saw Adrien lying on the floor, his eyes pealed open with shock.

In Adrien's, he saw Marinette through a window, as he stared at her from outside. He then saw a pitch black world, like the light in his brain had shut off.

"Ugh," Adrien groaned, attempting to open his eyes. "He's awake, sir," Natalie said as Adrien shot open his eyes. "N-Natalie?" Adrien stammered. He looked down, and saw her holding a tablet with his father's face on it.

"H-Hey father," Adrien smiled. "Good, you're awake. You can now continue with your regular activities, according to the nurse," his father replied coldly. Adrien sighed. "Is it-" he got cut off when his father clicked out of the tablet.

He sighed in disbelief, as he heard a knock on the glass window. He turned his head to see Ladybug waving at him. "Hey, Adrien," she opened up the window so she could talk. "L-Ladybug?" Adrien shockingly said.

"What are you doing here?" Adrien made sure his hair wasn't very messy, so he wouldn't look too much like Chat Noir. "I heard about your incident, thought I would stop by," Ladybug smiled.

"What even happened?" Adrien asked. "You had a anxiety attack, Adrien," Ladybug sighed. "Everyone in your class was very worried about you, and so was I," Ladybug added. "What happened after?" Adrien processed the information.

"From what I heard," Ladybug started. "It seemed that you had forgotten something for a big presentation, and you freaked out," Ladybug said as Adrien looked down. "I was just worried, I guess," Adrien said, ashamed and embarrassed.

"What made you so worried," Ladybug asked, concerned about his sad tone. "I guess, disappointing anyone," Adrien sighed. "My father expects very high when it comes to my grades, I just feel if I let him down, everyone will be so mad or disappointed," Adrien said as Ladybug gasped.

"I've already said too much," Adrien chuckled as Ladybug sighed. "That's not funny," Ladybug said, not happy. "You should really talk to someone," Ladybug replied. "I am," Adrien started. "My good friend, Marinette. She found out about my real life after she witnessed my melt down," Adrien sighed.

Ladybug looked down. "She sounds very nice," Ladybug smiled sweetly. "I better go," Ladybug heard a crowd of voices coming near. She then leaned in and pecked his cheek. "See you, Adrien," she closed the window without giving a chance to Adrien to say goodbye.

"Adrien," his teacher said as he wiped his head back to the doors. "What are you looking at?" Miss Bustier asked, as the rest of the class waved and smiled. Adrien waved back. "Nothing," he replied as Marinette burst through the doors.

"Sorry, Miss," she said, clearly out of breath. His class was so nice, they asked him if he was okay, and how he was doing which sadly made him feel worse. They were all taking time from there schedules to check on him, and he tried to be as thankful as possible.

Then, his bodyguard walked in, and signalled for him to come with him. He left all his classmates, trailing in front of his bodyguard. He got into his car and felt as if a permanent frown was planted on his face.

"Hey?" Adrien said as his bodyguard nodded. "Could we go to school? I was wondering if I could take my friends to the town square," Adrien asked, hoping for another nod.

His body guard shook his head, as he tightened Adrien's seatbelt, making him leap backwards. "Very good," his father clicked in to the tablet. "Hey, father," Adrien's tone drooped. "Hello," he replied coldly. "That's the first time you replied," Adrien smiled a bit.

"No," his father said, making Adrien confused. "Say 'hello', not 'hey'," his father responded. "That's not proper, Adrien," his father replied as he frowned again. "Yes, father," the pressure to be perfect was put back on his shoulders.

"Adrien," his father said as Adrien looked up. "Yeah?" "I don't expect you to have any more incidents at school, I heard about your flashcards," his father said as Adrien stayed silent. "I expect more, son," he added, then clicked off.

He expected more... how much more perfect could he get?
