Chapter 18: Who's Crying Now?
Hello, my lovely readers! I updated on time - what a miracle. Get it - cause miracle and miraculous-
Okay, I'll shut up now.
Enjoy the chapter :)
WARNING: Suggested Bloody Scene & Threats of Self Harm.
Adrien was still a bit scarred from the day before. His Father and his psychiatrist fighting was an echo that refused to leave his head. Plagg had tried to console him, but each word just kept on repeating, and the phrase that stood out was always 'your fault.'
And, this same voice always found a way to blame Adrien, a poor boy who just wanted to feel love once more. His father had an absence in his life, and his mother had never gotten the chance to hug him and tell him that it was going to be alright and that he wasn't alone.
How he had missed the sweet days of childhood.
He was now rolling out his bandages again, another one of his Father's outbursts taken out on his son. If only he hadn't looked where he wasn't supposed to.

~FLASHBACK~
Adrien adjusted his satchel strap, taking a small glance into the mirror. He had missed Natalie's presence and voice and having at least one person more in the mansion. Even his bodyguard was gone, taken away after an incident a couple of weeks ago.
He left his room, looking both ways to see if he'd bump into his father. After verifying he was not, he ran down the stairs, and dashed into the kitchen, stealing an apple from the fridge. There were only a couple left - he needed to buy more of his emergency food.
He noticed a layer of dust on the large table he used to sit at alone as well as the large chandelier that hadn't been lit in months. He took a large bite of his apple, taking out his phone to see if there was a conversation or argument happening on Datstring.

Hey Mari
Have you talked to Adrien? He hasn't been on recently
AdrienAgreste
Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on recently.
He decided to type this before quickly stuffing his phone into his pocket, after hearing a small noise. He noticed Plagg coming up onto his shoulder, hearing it as well. "Where is it coming from?" Adrien whisper-yelled to his kwami.
He got a small shrug from Plagg, quickly turning the corner as the soft noise grew louder. He opened the door quietly, hearing the sounds of someone...crying?
It was his Father.
He gasped quietly as he heard the sound of a chair scraping the floor. "Who's there!?" he ran up to the door as Adrien scrambled to turn the corner. He held his breath as his father looked right and left before turning the corner to see his son.
"H-Hi father," Adrien stammered, "I-I'm s-so sorry-"
His glare had shut him up, the cold wall suddenly feeling warm from the sweat on his hands. "Adrien, how dare you!" His father exclaimed. Adrien's scream couldn't describe the terror on his face.

"You okay, kid?" Plagg asked, his voice not going over a whisper. Adrien nodded slightly, the frown on his face still very evident. He got a call from a very familiar girl, as he quickly answered without thinking.
He hid himself by placing his phone on his back, meaning that Marinette could only see black. "Hi, Adrien! I...why is your screen black?" "I'm eating breakfast, my phone is on the table," he lied quickly.
"What's up?" he countered, a slight blush flaring onto his cheeks, as he saw her school outfit. "Oh nothing, I just wanted to check on you since you haven't been on Datstring very much," she slightly giggled. "How are you?"
"Oh, I'm good," he lied again. He unwrapped the bandages slowly, trying not to make that much noise. "I...found something today," he really, really, wanted to be truthful with her.
"What is it?" she asked curiously. "My...My father, he was...crying," Adrien mumbled as Marinette gasped. "What!? Really!? Is he okay?" "H-He should be now," Adrien paused, sucking in a breath.
Come on Adrien, you can do this.
"He...uh..." he breathed once more. "H-He just needed some help, and then he was fine again,"
He mentally slapped himself as he rubbed his face.
"Oh, that's good," Marinette said as Adrien mouthed a yelling to himself in the mirror. "I have to go now, school's starting any minute, maybe we'll see you by second period," "Yeah," Adrien replied, looking at the time and then freaking out.
"See you," he waited for her to hang up as he quickly threw on a shirt and ran out his bedroom door.

He threw his bag onto the cafeteria table bench, Marinette stealing the spot beside him. He hadn't expected this, explaining why his eyebrows raised so high. "Hey Adrien, glad to see you could come today after all," if voices had faces, Marinette's would be constantly smiling.
"Y-Yeah, me too," he found himself staring at her, making him rush back to looking forward at Nino. "So, I knew that you'd forget your lunch again," Marinette started, pulling out something from her bag, "So I brought you this sandwich and a donut," her smiling-voice was active once more.
He hugged her.
He hadn't realized he was holding it for so long until Alya snapped a quick photo. "Thank you! Thank you so much," Adrien quickly bit into the sandwich as she giggled. "What are friends for?" the statement hurt him more than it should.
***
After school, he flopped onto his bed, beginning to cry from the constant pain he was feeling all day. It's like the bruises on his body were ten times more painful than before, and crying had seemed to make it worse.
In short, he just really, really, wanted to die.
When taking time to explain, he really, really just wanted to die. Period.
But he couldn't Marinette made it hard for him to act on his severe depression, but her words had hurt, even with a voice as soft as hers. She never knew her words hurt so much, but they did, they hurt more than a blade to his wrist.
A blade to his wrist. Something he hoped he would never do, but, at this point, did he deserve it?
What would it feel like?
Would it numb the pain - or make it worse?
What if he...tried it?
"Oh no," Plagg saw Adrien come back into his room with a kitchen knife. "What are you doing?" "Relax, Plagg, it's for an apple I brought," he showed his kwami the apple - though this didn't seem to convince him.
He carefully watched Adrien eat it, and then her threw the core into the trash. "Now-" "Do you think it would hurt if I'm already mentally hurting?" Adrien asked softly.
"Yes, it would hurt, and you would die, and cause everyone around you to feel the pain you do - so don't do it!" Plagg practically shouted.
"But...what if it helps numb the pain-" "Adrien-" "I'll only do it once, no one will know-" "ADRIEN!" Plagg screamed.
His head turned to his kwami. "Don't do it," Plagg begged as he sighed. "But-" "No. End of discussion," Plagg tried to take the knife away from his owner. "Please, Plagg, one cut won't do anything,"
"One cut will turn into more," Plagg tried his hardest to rip it from his owner's hands. He then flew away, seeming to give up as Adrien raised the blade over his wrist.
He then heard the sound of a Datstring video call, echoing. His kwami showed him a phone screen, his three friends already in a video call, and Plagg was about to press 'join'.
"If you do it, all of your friends will see, do you want to traumatize them like that?"
Adrien hesitated, but put the knife down, curling up into a ball once again.
ADRIEN NOOOOO! This flipping pained me to write.
ANYONE who is thinking of doing this to themselves - PLEASE do not. It will not make anything better, and it will make things worse, you don't deserve to do that to yourself.
If you ever need any help, feel free to message me :)
But, have a great day/night and Stay Tuned ;)
