Chapter 14: She's Just A Friend
HI! Okay, sorry for the update so late in the night .__. I really am trying to balance school and Wattpad, but school is just too heavy TwT
Yeah, so now it's 11:40 in the night, and 20 minutes away from tomorrow, and I still have some math homework to do...
...Great...
Anyway, that's none of your concern, enjoy :D!
Adrien paced around his bathroom, running his hands through his hair. "You're going to have to leave at some point," Plagg groaned, receiving a glare shortly after. "But, Natalie's not here, and I don't want to practice driving-"
"Just do it!" Plagg opened the door for him as his father sent him a video call link on his tablet. "Father, can't you just come?" Adrien practically begged as he entered the driver's seat of the car. "Of course not," His father spoke from the tablet.
"Isn't this illegal-" "I'm still in the car with you," his father interrupted as Adrien's brows furrowed. Okay, Adrien, you can do this.
Adrien put the car in drive and checked to make sure everything was working. He checked the dashboard, mirrors, and double-checked to make sure he was going to press the right pedal. "Okay," Adrien mumbled.
He had been taking a driving course for a couple of weeks so far, with the assistance of Nathalie. He slowly backed out of the driveway, slowly turning around the large fountain in the entrance of the mansion.
He exited the gates, and turned onto the road, heading to his psychiatrist session. "Good," his father said as Adrien's eyes widened in surprise. Good? When had his father ever used that word when talking to him?
"Thanks," Adrien tapped his thumbs on the wheel as he waited for the traffic light. Marinette called his cell as he quickly answered it. "Hey, Marinette!" Adrien said as his father rolled his eyes.
"C-Can you call back, I'm a bit busy right now," Adrien said quickly after. "Yes, of course? Where are you anyway?" "Oh, I'm driving to my psychiatrist lesson right now," Adrien replied with a quick smile.
"Wow, that's so cool!" Marinette raised her arms in the air. "Well, I'll see you at school tomorrow," Marinette said as Adrien gave a quick nod as a goodbye. "Hey, father, have you thought about giving Marinette that internship?" Adrien attempted to start a conversation.
"We talked about this, I'm not interested in giving that girl anything," he said in a revolted tone. "I don't want to discuss her anymore,"
"O-Okay," Adrien went back to paying attention to the street. "Okay, here," Adrien laid back in his seat with relief. "See you..." his father had already hung up as he let out a sigh. "Good job Adrien," Plagg said as Adrien half-smiled.
"Thanks, Plagg," Adrien exited the car, straightening his jacket on the way out. "Wow, Adrien, fancy car I see," Zoey pointed out as Adrien waved. "Yeah, I've been learning recently,"
"Great," she gestured to the door, "Come in!" Adrien walked in, the surroundings of her office becoming somewhat familiar. Adrien fumbled with the small picture of Natalie he kept in his breast pocket - he wouldn't - he couldn't forget her, and the sacrifices she made for him.
"She's pretty," Zoey commented on the second picture he looked at. "Yeah, these are all my friends," he tucked the one of Natalie back into his pocket. "What about that one," she pointed to a third one.
"Oh yeah, this is me and Marinette," Adrien showed Zoey. "You guys friends?" Zoey asked. "Of course, very good ones," Adrien added with a smile. "Yeah, I feel like I've been thinking about her a lot recently," Adrien admits.
"Really," "Do you like her?" Zoey added. "Well, of course-" "In, like, a romantic way," Zoey noticed Adrien's denseness. Adrien thought for a moment, "I don't think so," he replied truthfully.
"Even if I have, I've never noticed," Adrien added quickly after. "Well, do you think about her when she's not around?" Zoey asked sitting down across from Adrien.
He shrugged. "I mean, sometimes. Like, sometimes, I'd see something, and think 'oh Marinette would love that!', or you know..." Adrien rubbed the back of his neck. "Like, I do think about her when she's not around, but like not in a creepy way -I- just think she's a really-good-friend..." Adrien stammered as Zoey giggled.
"I mean, that sounds like love to me," Zoey smiled widely. "Really?" Adrien perked up. "Well, of course! A person that you love is someone that makes you smile, and you love spending time with them, and-"
"You can be yourself around them?" "Exactly!" Zoey said as Adrien's eyes widened. "D-Does that mean, I do have a crush on her?" "Well, I mean, It definitely seems that way,"
Adrien rubbed the picture of them together with his thumb. "B-But, I thought I liked Ladybug," Adrien said as Zoey shrugged. "Love can be confusing, but if you want my full advice," Zoey said handing Plagg some cheese.
"If you really loved the first girl, you would have never fallen for the second one," "Love is confusing, and you may convince yourself that you like the first one, but there is always a reason that you even considered the second one,"
Adrien stared at his feet. "If what you're saying is true, then I would have a crush on Marinette," Adrien sighed deeply. "How did this even happen?"
***
Adrien slumped back onto his bed. "I can't believe I love Marinette," Adrien sighed "I'm not even sure if she even likes me as a friend!" Plagg snickered at Adrien's voice.
"She obviously does like you as a friend," Plagg groaned. "But, there is really no way to tell for sure without asking her..." Adrien paused.
"That's another thing! How do I even talk to her again now that I have a crush on her!?" Adrien curled up into a ball in his bed. "You what?" his father's voice echoed as he turned around.
"H-Hey, father,"
Well, cliffhanger! Yeah, I'm sorry for updating so late in the night, I've hadn't had any time to write during the week <:[ but at least I updated right-
School is just punching me in the gut right now, and I would really love doing Wattpad more, but I don't think anyone would let me do that-
Anyway, stay tuned, and have a great day/night!!
