Chapter 12: The Downfall of the Truth

Happy Monday! Sorry for the update that's a bit late in the evening .__.'' but I was busy with school this week TWT and lemme tell you, I'd rather be writing on Wattpad then be drowning in Math homework.

Also the art above has nothing to do with the chapter, I just thought it was nice-

But, I hope you enjoy the chapter none the less ^^

On his ride home from Marinette's house, he silently thought about Ladybug. Why couldn't he tell her about Zoey - why could he tell Marinette? It was so confusing, and Adrien grew tired of only thinking about the two girls.

Each one made his brain hurt, and he imagined himself in different situations with each of them. His thoughts just occupied Marinette, Marinette, Marinette or Ladybug, Ladybug, Ladybug. He hated the thought of the two girls both hating him if they ever found out Adrien's thoughts about them.

He sighed, slamming the car door as he walked up the steps. Each one he let his foot drag; running around with Manon was very tiring.

"Adrien," his father's voice echoed. "Yes, father?" Adrien tried to hide the exhaustion in his voice. "How is your project going," his father said as Adrien's eyes widened. Does he tell the truth or, does he lie? He should understand, right...

"Well, actually, Marinette forgot she had some babysitting to do, so I helped her with that, and we'll work on the project at the library tomorrow,"

Wait, what is he saying, he won't understand.

His hands clenched. "You lied to me over the phone, didn't you?" Gabriel grumbled. "I'm sorry, father," Adrien looked at his feet, not to see the disappointment over his father's face.

"Please forgive me," Adrien said quickly after. "If I did, you would do this over and over again, you don't lie, Adrien," Gabriel turned to face him. "Now," Gabriel said as Adrien screamed.

Adrien cried, quickly calling Marinette. "Marinette," Adrien begged as Marinette gasped. "Adrien, what's the matter!?" "I..." Adrien froze, why couldn't he tell Marinette now? "I...nothing, see you at school," Adrien hung up before Marinette's reply.

"Adrien! You need to tell her, and call the police!" Plagg tried to take his phone from him. "No, Plagg!" Adrien wiped a tear that rolled down his face. "Why!" Plagg said as Adrien tucked his phone into his pocket.

"Because it doesn't matter!" Adrien shouted back.

Plagg froze. "But it does!" He protested shortly after as Adrien wrapped some bandages around his arm. "It seems you are the only one who cares Plagg, but, no one else does," Adrien flicked off his ring in frustration.

Plagg disappeared as Adrien sighed deeply. Adrien covered up his bruises, never feeling so alone and hurt. "38 missed calls," Adrien quickly checked his phone, revealing the number who had called him.

"Marinette?" Adrien asked into the phone. "Adrien what happened!" she panickly said into the phone. "I-It's fine now, don't worry," Adrien mumbled. "What am I supposed to do!? You called me sobbing and hung up," Marinette spat.

"I-I'm so sorry," Adrien apologized, pinching himself to cause more pain then he was already in. Marinette sighed. "Though actually," she wiped a tear.

"Is everything good? You didn't sound very good on the phone, and I was really worried-" "No, no, don't worry, everything's fine," Adrien forced smile.

She examined his face and then smiled. "Well, that's what I wanted to hear," Marinette's sutter was completely gone. He couldn't figure out why, but he shook the thought away quickly.

"I have some sleep to catch up on, I'll see you at school tomorrow though. The time together was really fun," Adrien smiled genuinely. Marinette's face turned a bit red. "Aha, thanks - I mean, see you at school!" Marinette hung up as Adrien sighed.

His smile faded quickly, as he put his ring back on. "Excuse me, Adrien, you don't get to take off your miraculous anytime that you want," Plagg said as Adrien apologized. "I'm sorry Plagg, I'm really tired, there is some cheese in the cupboard if you want," Adrien pulled the sheets over his head, in a position where he didn't feel much pain.

He had thought he had seen the worst of his father - apparently the worst was yet to come.

"School, school, school," Adrien repeated the word as he covered up his bruises. "Adrien," Natalie coughed, trembling to the ground. "Natalie!" Adrien ran up to her, helping her up. "Are you okay?" Adrien desperately said as her peacock broach glistened in the sun from his windows.

"I'm fine, also what happened to your face," Natalie's voice imitated an android. "Oh, you know father, and..." Adrien didn't want to specify, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'll be down in a minute," Adrien ran back into the bathroom, finishing putting on some foundation.

"Okay, how do I look Plagg," Adrien turned to his kwami. "Like a chunk of foundation," Plagg said as Adrien's brow furrowed. "You have it all over you! Just-" "No Plagg, I want to go to school, and this is the easiest way to cover it up," Adrien put simply, not shaken by the situation at all.

"I still don't understand why you are so okay with everything that happened," Plagg whispered as Adrien put a finger to his lips. "Adrien," his father said as Adrien waved. "Hey-hello, father," Adrien corrected himself.

His eye's narrowed. "Good luck at school," he left the room as Adrien stood there confused. "Thanks?" his father has never said that to him before. Maybe he did feel remorse about what happened.

Adrien smiled a bit. It still didn't change the amount of pain he was feeling. Instead of a normal short-sleeve jacket, he wore a long sleeve, to cover up some more bruises. He got into the car, and drove to the school, seeing Marinette waving at him.

"Adrien!" she exclaimed with a smile. "Marinette," he put an arm on her shoulders. "Did you get your beauty sleep," Marinette said as Adrien laughed. "Well, you could say that," Adrien said, even though he was almost in so much pain, he couldn't sleep very soundly.

Marinette giggled. "Well, we can work on our project after school," Adrien had just noticed how comfortable Marinette had gotten around him. "Of course," Adrien added with a smile.

He listened to her ramble on about sewing and school, and he just listened to her patiently, admiring the sound of her voice.

HEYO FWENS! So, yeah, I updated a bit later on in the evening - the truth is I've been really busy, so I had to write the other half of the chapter today .__.

I hope you could get used to night updates or even Tuesday morning updates - but I'll still try my best to keep my updates on time >:3

Anyway, stay tuned ;)!
