Epilogue
The four Kingsglaive members were now walking back to Hammerhead, the morning light blessing their faces.
Y/N: (sigh) Well...we did it guys.
Gladiolus: Went out with a bang, too.
Ignis: Yes...a great victory for us.
Prompto: Yeah. Hey, Noct! Want to--
As Prompto had looked back, expecting a reply from his best friend, the silence was his answer. No one was there.
Prompto: Oh, right...
Gladiolus: Yeah...
Ignis: He's really...
Y/N: Gone? I know...
The four of them continue to walk back to Hammerhead, sadly putting their heads down at the loss of their king. Their friend.
Hours later, they were later coming out of Cindy's garage, all dressed up in casual clothing.
Y/N: So...this is where we part ways.
Ignis: It appears so.
Gladiolus: You guys...got any plans to do?
Prompto: I don't know. Might hang around here for a little while before I start to travel the world and start a photography business.
Y/N: Aranea and I are probably going to continue the mercenary business, but we'll one day settle down. You, Gladio?
Gladiolus: Might become a Hunter. Lookin' for an adventure, y'know? What about you, Iggy?
Ignis: Well, seeing as I have no one to attend to, I might as well put my talents to use. You all have been telling me not to waste them.
Y/N: (chuckles) Well, until the next time we meet, guys.
They all share a hug before they depart, Y/N heading back to Aranea's ship before he spots the dragoon ordering some of her men around.
Y/N: How are you doing, love?
Aranea: (turns around) Well hello, handsome.~
Y/N: Yeah...I'm back.
Aranea: So he's...finally gone, huh?
Y/N: (holds back tears) Yeah...where's Eydis?
Aranea: She's still asleep. Everything's almost on here and we're about to depart soon.
Y/N noticed that Aranea had some discomfort every time she moved. Not only that, she would clutch he stomach sometimes.
Being the caring husband he was, he was concerned.
Y/N: You alright? You seem to be discomforted.
Aranea: Y-Yeah. I'm fine.
Y/N: You can talk to me. What is it?
She sighs as she stared back into his blue eyes.
Aranea: The things is...I'm pregnant again.
Y/N's eyes widen, but they soon soften up as he hugs his wife, who in turn is shocked.
Aranea: You aren't mad?
Y/N: Why would I be mad? Sure I had a lot of things going, but nothing could make me be mad at you.
Aranea: Right.
They hear groaning, them turning their heads to see Eydis waking up from her slumber. Her smaller figure rises up from the mattress, stretching as she groggily looks to her parents.
Eydis: (murmurs) Morning, mommy. Morning, daddy...
The young girl yawns as she looks up at them, blinking a few times before she opens them completely, looking on as she sees it was daylight.
She exclaims happily as she runs up next to her parents, staring out into the sky.
Eydis: Wow! The morning is so pretty!
Y/N: Yeah...this is you should've seen when you were born.
Eydis: (looks to Aranea) Are you okay, mommy? You look sick.
Aranea: Well, that's thing I was talking about with your father.
Y/N: Eydis, how would it feel to be an older sister?
Eydis: (gasp) Are you having another baby!?
Aranea: Indeed we are, sweetie.
Eydis: Yay!
As she chimed happily, Y/N ushers the two back into the ship, Y/N calling the rest of Aranea's men to head inside. But before the ship doors closed, Y/N glances back at the Crown City.
Y/N: Farewell, my King.
With a smile, the ship door closes as the red ship ascends into the sky, leaving the area of Hammerhead.
Timeskip-10 Years
It was ten years from now, Y/N was in the front seat of his car. Aranea was in the front passenger seat in the front and their two children sat in the back.
Eydis was now seventeen, a freelance mercenary that took up Aranea's position of commodore of her small crew. But, Aranea would command just for old times sake. Their son, Eliwood, had Y/N's eyes and hair. Y/N wanted to honor his father in some way, so he named his son after his father.
They were currently riding in a car based off the Regalia, Cindy had shipped this over to Y/N one day after the final battle at the Citadel.
Passing Hammerhead, Y/N smiles as he remembers when the Regalia had broken down and the five of them had to push the car into Hammerhead. It was also the first time they met Cindy, Prompto having fallen in love with her the first sight he saw her.
Hours later, they arrived in the Crown City, Insomnia was now brimming with people once more. The buildings and other houses were rebuilt, any magitek transports that were left over were melted down and made into new technologies. Y/N then parked their car in front of a restaurant. The door was unlocked, but it had the closed sign on.
Aranea: We'll be inside. I know you have somewhere to be.
Y/N: I know. It won't be long, though.
Aranea: (chuckle) I know. C'mon, kids. Your father will come by later.
Eydis: Oh, is he going to visit Uncle Noctis?
Aranea: Yes.
Eydis: See ya, dad!
Waving goodbye, Y/N starts to walk down the streets of Insomnia. He looked at his clothes, which were his Crownsguard fatigues. It's what they first wore when they set off on their journey.
Over the years, the Citadel was transformed into a museum, having millions of visitors each day. He arrived at the gates of the Citadel, where a long line of people were. Just as he was about to enter, a Kingsglaive member stops him.
Kingsglaive Member: Sorry, sir. You must have a ticket to enter.
Y/N: Well--
???: Let him in.
The red haired male smiles as he recognized the voice. He turned around to see his teacher, still in the same Kingsglaive uniform.
Y/N: So you're still alive, aren't you, old man?
Cor: I'm standing right here, aren't I?
Y/N: It's good to see you again, marshal.
Cor: Marshal, huh? I haven't been called that in years. People always referred to me as Cor or Captain.
Y/N: Captain of the Kingsglaive, huh? Man, it's only been ten years since I left here.
Cor: You know, you are always welcomed back.
Y/N: Thanks, but I think my fighting days are over. We've decided to settle down now. Well, Eydis has decided to take up the mercenary business.
Cor: Tell her to come by the base. I would like to test her strength.
Y/N: Think you can handle her, old man? She's gotten pretty powerful.
Cor: There's only one way to find out.
Y/N: It was good seeing you, Cor.
Cor: You as well, Y/N.
Now gaining entry into the Citadel, he entered the palace. Going up to the throne room, he finds it was already opened. While it wasn't opened to the public yet, Y/N had time for himself there.
He went up the steps and knelt in front of the banner.
Y/N: Hey, Noct. It's been awhile, hasn't it? Y'know, I had another kid. I wish you could've met my son, Eliwood. I named him in honor of my father. (deep breath) Damn, now I know how this is hard to do. Y'know, we miss you. But, I cherished all those memories. (laughs a little) A lot of moments, a lot of banter, and stupid arguments. I wish we could do it all again. I was glad to have met you all those years ago. Not only just to serve you, but to call you a friend. Well, it's getting late and I should probably be moving now. Wouldn't want the others to worry. I'll see around, my King.
Leaving the Citadel, he heads back to where he parked his car. He opens the door to the restaurant to see everyone there.
Gladiolus and Prompto were sitting on bar stools, Ignis behind the counter. Cindy and Aranea were off to the side talking to each other. Eydis and Eliwood were over with Iris. Cid sat in the corner, his hat down as he was taking a snooze. In the kitchen, Monica and Dustin were helping with Ignis's cooking.
Y/N: Been a long time, guys.
Prompto: Y/N! What's up, man!
Y/N: Nothin' much. You?
Prompto: Oh you know, making the hits on the front cover of magazines. Chicks really dig my photos, but I've only got one person I need.
Y/N: Yeah, I heard you were going to propose to Cindy soon. What about you, Gladio?
Gladiolus: The Hunter life hasn't been all that bad. Especially when coming back home to my lady back in Lestallum. Iggy's been quite busy himself.
Ignis: While I have put my cooking talents to good use, I'm searching to make a partnership with Coctura.
Y/N: Coctura? The owner of the Mother of Pearl back in Galdin?
Ignis: The very same.
Gladiolus: Well, drink up fellas.
Handing everyone a drink, they clinked their cups together, taking in their shots of whiskey.
Gladiolus: Cheers to Noct.
Y/N: (sigh) I can't believe it's been ten years since then.
Prompto: Yeah. Ever wonder what it'd be like if Noct was still around?
Ignis: I can imagine you're still doing your photography business, Prompto.
Gladiolus: While the rest of us would be working with Noct as his retainers.
Y/N: Noct probably would've appointed me as the captain of the Kingsglaive so Cor can retire.
Gladiolus: How's he doing, anyway?
Y/N: The old man is still the captain. Said he wants to square off with Eydis again.
Prompto: Think she'll win?
Y/N: Who knows? Her strengths lies in her swordsmanship, but she's pretty decent with a spear. You can thank Aranea for that.
Gladiolus: And here you were saying it wasn't going to work out.
Y/N: Well, it didn't work out for a few years.
Ignis: Yet here you are, the two of you going to settle down.
Prompto: Really?
Y/N: Yeah. We've been talking about it for a while now. Probably just going to spend the rest of our years here while Eydis takes control of the crew.
Prompto: It's hard to believe that the light has been restored.
Gladiolus: It feels like we just finished taking back the Crown City yesterday.
Ignis: And here it is now, brimming with life.
Y/N: And it's all thanks to him.
The four continue to talk among themselves some more before Prompto calls them over for a group picture. In front, Eydis, Eliwood, and Iris were kneeling.
Behind them was Y/N, Aranea, Prompto, and Cindy. Cid had pulled up his chair, near Eliwood, Gladiolus standing behind him. Beside Gladiolus was Monica and Dustin and Ignis were on the other side. The camera shutter clicks as the picture was taken.
They gather round to take a look at the picture, laughing and having fun. Outside, looking inside the building was an ethereal figure.
Noctis simply smiles at his friends, the people he cares about.
