Chapter 30: Episode Y/N

Note: This is an original chapter so this could either go really bad or it can be good. It all depends if you enjoy it or not.

Like Gladiolus, Prompto, Ignis, and Ardyn, they all had their own individual episodes that basically focused on them when they were separated from the group. Well, Ardyn was his own thing. But anyway, this is Episode Y/N. Hope y'all enjoy it.

---

(A/N): As for Y/N's current outfit, just imagine him in Roy's SSBU default costume.

Timeskip-3 Years

Eternal darkness had fallen over Eos. The retinue of Noctis had split up, Prompto had been going back and forth between Hammerhead and Lestallum. Ignis was training himself for him to enhance his other senses as he could no longer see. Gladiolus had been traveling around Eos, getting stronger.

Y/N however, had ventured to the ruined Crown City, Insomnia. He had been hunting daemons for the last three years, saying it was his penance for not being able to protect Noctis.

Currently, he is walking the ruined streets of Insomnia, wearing a shiny blue armor, a similar design to his father's when he fought in the great war. A ripped dark blue, colored caped with his family's symbol, along with his signature headband. He heard a roar as he turned around to see a daemon, an Iron Giant, rising from the ground. Gritting his teeth and clenching his hand on his sword's handle, he unsheathes it, the moonlight reflecting off the blade.

With a shout, he rushes forward, igniting his sword with flames, his rage fueling him. First using his Flame Art, Blazer, he brings his one-handed sword down, igniting the ground below him as the daemon roars in pain. Recovering quickly, he uses his other Flame Art, Double-Edged Dance.

Striking four times consecutively, he eliminates the daemon, making his weapon disappear as he continues to walk around the streets of Insomnia.

Turning to his right, he sees the apartment building Noctis had been living in when they were in high school. He glances to the entrance and sees something appear. A memory.

Flashback-6 Years Ago

Y/N was accompanying Ignis to Noctis's apartment. Y/N had been released from school much earlier than Noctis and Prompto. As the two got in Noctis's apartment, they see tons of trash in both his room and living room.

Y/N and Ignis both sigh with annoyance and begin to clean up the apartment room, all while waiting for the young prince to come home.

Flashback End

Y/N: (grits teeth) It's not enough...I need to get stronger...more.

Continuing walking down the street, he then finds himself in the higher areas, where the nobles would reside. To his left was House Scientia, where Ignis and his family would reside. Then across from House Scientia was House L/N, his home.

Walking up the steps, he brushes his hand against the stone railing. Upon arrival at the courtyard, there were many bodies of magitek troopers and some retainers that served his family.

Walking inside his old home, more memories start to appear.

Flashback

A young Y/N and Ignis were walking down the hallway of Y/N's home.

Y/N: Wow...you're going to be Noct's appointed Hand and advisor.

Ignis: It's truly an honor.

Y/N: Honestly, it does fit you, Iggy.

Ignis: Yes. I also overheard your father and Lord Regis speaking. Something about appointing you as Noct's Sword.

Y/N: Really? Like dad is Lord Regis's Sword!?

Ignis: That's what I heard.

Y/N: Alright! I've just gotta get stronger!

Flashback End

Y/N only stared down the same hallway. He slams his fist against the wall, gritting his teeth once more.

Y/N: But I wasn't strong enough...I was still weak. Dammit!

Calming down, remembering Cor's teachings, he begins to walk down the empty hall. Coming to a lone candlestick, he pulls it, revealing a secret passage.

His father had shown this to him many years ago, right around when he was middle school. Everyone in their bloodline would find their special metal right in this mine under their house and take it to the Rock of Ravatogh, his family dubbing the peak as the Forge of Ifrit. Taking a lantern that was on one of the shelves nearby, he lights it up and begins to descend down the stairs.

Walking down the mine corridor, his footsteps echoing as he traversed through. The special thing about this mine was that no daemons were able to be spawned here, most likely because of the Crystal. But now that the Crystal had suddenly vanished right after Noctis had entered it, there were bound to be daemons living here.

As he walked, Goblin daemons begin to drop from the ceiling. Drawing his sword, Y/N runs forward, dodging any of the attacks that came his way. Parrying from the left side, he quickly slashes at the daemon, eliminating it as another one comes up from behind him. He ducks down, the daemon going over him as he strikes up, the tip piercing the daemon's body. The last one comes forward with it's weapon, swinging to around as it was winding up for an overpower attack. Y/N threw his one-handed sword, the blade piercing it's chest as Y/N clips the lantern to his belt side. Summoning Hagekure, he dashes forward as he quickly slashes through and sheathes the katana, taking both of his weapons and making them disappear.

After finishing his battle, he continues walking forward, going through the mine. He didn't know how long he's been walking. It felt like hours already. There were many tunnels and pathways for him to go through.

Coming to a passage with three pathways, Y/N closes his eyes and wasn't sure which one to choose. He then remembers his father's words.

"Follow the Flame in your heart. It shall guide you."

Y/N begins to concentrate, determining where the metal that is chosen for him.

Y/N: (mutters) Come on, where is it.

He then starts to feel a strong energy coming from the left, a heat signature filled with powerful magic.

Y/N: There it is.

Taking the left path, he continues walking down the path before coming out to an open area, stalagmites hanging from the ceiling. Lava was on the bottom with a narrow stone bridge. At the end of the bridge was a dark metal, filled with silver and gold linings.

That was the metal he sought out. Walking to the bridge, he took it. But as soon as he took it, he heard a low growl. It was a dragon.

Y/N was confused though. He thought the dragons had been extinct for a very long time. The dragon begins to rise up from the lava below, hovering at Y/N's level. As he was about to grab his weapon, the dragon begins speaking to him.

(A/N): Just think of the dragon's design of Odahviing from Skyrim.

Dragon: Who are you, human?

Y/N: You...can talk?

Dragon: Foolish child. I have been alive for many years, safeguarding these mines for the L/N family for many generations. So I ask again, who are you, human?

Y/N: Y/N L/N, son of Eliwood, Sword of the King.

Dragon: Another L/N you say? Then prove it to me!

The dragon roars as a breath of flames leaves it's mouth, Y/N taking cover behind the pedestal the metal had laid on. Peeking around the corner of the pedestal, platforms begin to rise up from the ground, the dragon landing on one of them.

Dragon: What's wrong? I thought you were a L/N? A L/N wouldn't be hiding. Now fight!

Running out of cover, Y/N hops onto one of the platforms, dodging the blast of fires coming out of the dragon's mouth. Taking his one-handed sword, he cuts through the flame blasts that were coming towards him, but was shocked when the dragon's tail had went through one of the flames, the tail smacking him.

Being sent back, he rolls back on the floor, thrown off the platform, but Y/N was able to conjure his sword in time. After conjuring it, he stabs it into the side of the platform, holding on.

Using his momentum, he flips himself up to get back on the platform, the dragon now landing in front of him. Y/N dodges the attack from it's talons, him running as fast as he could as he cuts at the tendon. He then grabs the dragon by the tail, climbing onto it as he goes to attack it. But the dragon starts to thrash around in order to kick Y/N off, the red haired man holding onto the horns of the dragon. As soon as it stops thrashing around, Y/N jumped off the dragon, throwing a few ice spells at the ground of the dragon, locking it in place. He then takes a few more ice spells and throws it at the stalagmites over the dragon.

Looking for a way to climb up towards it, he leaps onto the walls that had outcroppings sticking out of it. Climbing up to where the stalagmite was, he then starts to chip away at the ice in order to make it fall. The dragon had broken one of it's feet, preparing to look up at Y/N. Soon, Y/N shatters the stalagmite, it falling down on the dragon as it does damage to it.

Landing on the ground, he readies his sword and waits for the dragon to attack, but the dragon instead bows it's head.

Dragon: You are indeed Eliwood's son. You have his tactical mind.

Y/N: You...knew my...father?

Dragon: I have met each and every one of your ancestors. Your father has told me when the time would come when Eos would plunge into darkness. You are worthy of a weapon. But be warned, Ifrit does not like it when humans use his forge.

Y/N: Thank you.

Dragon: I expect an heir the next time. Until the next L/N.

The dragon then jumps back down into the lava pools, the platforms receding as well as Y/N makes his way back onto the stone bridge.

Making his way back up the mine, he was back in his home, sounds of memories from his childhood were still lingering in his ears. Before he went back outside, he went to his parent's bedroom, going into a drawer and pulling out a brown box. It had two rings in it. Ones belonging to his grandparents.

Y/N then remembered someone. A certain grey haired maiden.

Y/N: (sigh) Something that wasn't meant to be.

Since it was the only thing he had left, he takes the rings and stuffs them into the pouches on his belt. Leaving his home, sets off for the entrance of Insomnia.

Small Timeskip

On the road, Y/N was riding a motorcycle that Cindy had helped him fix. As he drove down the road, his cape blew with the wind, pondering about something.

He was deep in thought as soon as he came to the Insomnian Checkpoint, he didn't see an Iron Giant daemon rise from the ground, swinging it's arm as it does. Y/N was too late to turn the vehicle from hitting the extended arm, causing him to fly off and skid across the concrete road. An explosion was heard in the background as the motorcycle had exploded near the gates towards Crestholm Channel's entrance.

Y/N then blacks out for a short moment before he wakes up again, the Iron Giant now bringing it's giant blade down. Quickly conjuring his one-handed sword, he raises it up to block the giant sword, the blade grinding against his as sparks land next to his face. Just as he thought he was about to meet his end, a bright light was shone in his eyes. The sounds of gears turning, a mechanism at work. Soon, a spear lands next to his head, along with a familiar woman in her battle garb.

???: It seems like I'm always saving your ass.

Y/N: (sigh) It's just you.

???: Is that a good way to say "hello" to your ex-girlfriend?

The familiar woman was Aranea Highwind herself, extending a hand for Y/N to take, who rolled his eyes as he took the hand.

(A/N): Do keep in mind, Aranea's age was adjusted to be early twenties at the beginning of this story. Plus, it's a fanfiction so I can do whatever the fuck I want.

Aranea: You seem to be in quite a mess. What have you been up to?

Y/N: Busy doing things.

Aranea: (scoffs) And this is why we broke up.

Y/N: I had a duty to do and it was something I failed to do.

Aranea: Will you lighten up? He'll come back in another seven years. You have time.

Y/N: Whatever.

The red haired adult begins to walk in the direction of Hammerhead, Aranea sighing to herself before she follows behind.

Y/N: Why are you following me?

Aranea: Someone has to watch over your ass.

Y/N: I can handle myself.

Aranea: That bike crash begs to differ.

Y/N: You know what I mean.

Aranea: Right. So, where're you headed?

Y/N: Hammerhead for now. Then the Rock of Ravatogh.

Aranea: And why the hell do you need to go to a volcano?

Y/N: My family dubbed the peak as the "Forge of Ifrit." I need a new weapon. Something that'll help.

Aranea: Hmm. I can take you to Hammerhead if you want. We can take my ship.

Y/N: Look, it's fine--

Aranea: I'm just trying to do some good right now. No romance, just offering a ride for a friend.

Y/N: (sigh) ...Fine.

Aranea: Aww, still have that soft side for me?~

Y/N: (scoffs) You wish.

Aranea: Although, I will say I will miss our times in bed. You can really make a girl work.~

Y/N: And I thought you said no romance?

Aranea: Calm down, I'm just pulling your leg. Biggs, Wedge, bring her down.

Biggs: (comms) Sure thing, boss!

The ship descended down and the two then board the ship, Y/N sitting in the cargo hold while Aranea had went up to the pilot area to speak with Biggs and Wedge. Y/N was tired. He didn't remember the last time he slept. Slowly, his eyes begin to close, himself drifting off to sleep.

A few hours had passed and Aranea shook Y/N awake, the red haired adult stretching as he prepares to get off the ship.

Now arriving at Hammerhead, Y/N got off and took in the sights. Despite it only being three years since then, Hammerhead had changed quite a bit. While Cindy's and Cid's garage still remained a garage, the whole area had been turned into a Hunter HQ. Takka's restaurant had been turned into a radio station of sorts, but Takka still used the kitchen to whip something up for the Hunters and the Kingsglaive members that would stop by.

Stepping inside, he orders a Leidan Jumbalaya, the order coming in only thirty minutes. Finding himself a quiet place to eat outside, he took out his phone and stared at the pictures. There were some of the road trip, their group picture in Altissia, their group picture in the hidden harbor in Cape Caem, and a few selfies of just him and Aranea.

Y/N: (sigh) Where did we go wrong?

As Y/N ate in quiet, someone tapped his shoulder. Turning his head around, he smiles as he sees the familiar blonde gunslinger.

Y/N: Prompto.

Prompto: Hey there, Y/N, old pal!

Y/N: It's good to see you. How have you been doing?

Prompto: Oh, you know, the works. Making deliveries from here to Lestallum, helping out the defense over there as well. Didja know that Iris became a badass daemon hunter?

Y/N: (raised eyebrows) Really?

Prompto: Yeah! Cor was hesitant on letting her in on the hunts, but once he saw what she could do, she started kicking ass! Don't tell Gladio, though.

Y/N: That sounds nice. And my lips are sealed.

Prompto: Yeah, it does. So.~ How have you and Aranea been doing?

Y/N's smile then drops to a frown, Prompto noticing this.

Prompto: W-What happened? Did I say something wrong?

Y/N: No...you didn't do anything wrong. (sigh) It's just...I don't know where we...or I went wrong.

Prompto: Wanna talk about it?

Y/N: Nah, I'm good. Thanks for offering though. But, I did hear you and Cindy hit it off. Where is she now?

Prompto: Oh, she's still up in Lestallum, helping Holly around the power plant.

Y/N: (nods) I see.

Prompto: Have you heard from the others?

Y/N: Well, last I checked, Gladio has been still goin' around Eos, training. Ignis has still been training and honing his senses, but I have no idea where he is at the moment.

Prompto: I see. Well, it was good talking to ya, Y/N. And hey. About Aranea? You'll pull through. You always have.

Y/N: Right...thanks, Prompto.

A few minutes later, Y/N went to the shop to restock on his curatives, buying a few elixirs and Hi-Potions. Heading to where Aranea's ship was docked, he walked up to the grey haired dragoon.

Aranea: All set?

Y/N: Yeah.

Aranea: Alright, then. I'm dropping you off at the base of the mountain. It's the best I can do as a Zu bird ended up setting his home there.

Y/N: That's fine.

Boarding the ship, it was an awkward ride. As they sat in the hold, the two would make awkward eye contact, their eyes meeting as they quickly look away from each other.

Y/N wasn't sure whether to hold onto those feelings, but right now, he had a priority to focus on. The ship then stops at the bottom of the mountain.

Aranea: We'll hover up in the air. Just fire something up in the air to get our attention when you want to ship out again.

Y/N: Got it.

Getting off the ship, Y/N watches as the red ship flies back into the air, hovering over the spot he was dropped off at.

Y/N once again sighs to himself, looking towards the Rock of Ravatogh, an orange glow coming from the area that was near the peak of the volcano.

Y/N: That's the forge. Time to move.

The red haired male then starts to ascend up the volcano, remembering the banter they had going up the mountain. He chuckles to himself as he smiles at the fond memories.

Battling his way through the various monsters, the simpler daemons, but as well as some wyverns that still made their homes here, he would come across the occasional humanoid daemons, Ronin. As Y/N finally made it to the forge, he sees the lave boiling.

He takes out the metal from his pouch. All he had to do was drop it in the lava, which would let the magical properties of the metal do it's work as the metal would form into a special weapon for him. As he walks up to it, he goes to drop the metal in, only for a giant heatwave to be struck in his face. An explosion then occurs, sending him a few feet back. Opening his eyes, he sees it was the Infernian himself. Ifrit.

Except, Ifrit had perished during the War of the Astrals. The figure standing before him now was a demonized Ifrit, one that was resurrected by the Scourge.

Readying his weapon, Y/N runs to the side in order to flank the Infernian. But the god of fire sends a fire shot his way, Y/N dodging it narrowly as the flames had brushed against his cape. Gritting his teeth with frustration, he takes some ice spells and casts them towards the fire god, Infernian being frozen. But due to the intense heat, he was easily freed.

Ifrit: You are not worthy of using my forge, mortal.

Y/N: Whether I'm worthy or not, I need it.

Ifrit: Then you shall die here.

Y/N then runs forward, jumping in as he uses his Flame Art, Blazer, as he rushes up, slicing upwards. Due to Ifrit's affinity to flames, the fire didn't affect him, but the physical damage from Y/N's sword did, the blade edge damaging him.

Ifrit summons one of his own swords, slamming it into Y/N as the red haired male had also summoned Hagekure to block the blade, but it caused the katana to be knocked out of his hand, the katana being thrown into the lava pool. As Y/N prepares to attack again, he was knocked off the area from Ifrit's sword, him being sent down the slope, falling down to a lower level.

As he begins to black out, two familiar voices call out to him.

A Few Hours...

Y/N woke up, grunting and clutching his sides as he sees Aranea and Prompto run up to him.

Prompto: Whoa! Easy! You're just recovering from a heavy blow.

Aranea: You're one reckless idiot, you know that?

Y/N: (grunts) Tell me something I don't know.

He attempts to stand up, but Prompto pushes him back down so he doesn't strain himself. Much to his annoyance, he attempts to get up again.

Y/N: I didn't ask for your guys' help.

Prompto: Y/N, you can't keep going like this!

Y/N: I need to do this. (grunts) This is penance for my mistake. I could've prevented it had I gone with him.

Aranea: What the hell is wrong with you? It already happened! Get over it!

Y/N: You wouldn't fucking understand! It was my task! My duty!

Aranea: You don't think I know how much it means to you!

The two stare at each other with anger flared in their eyes. Prompto looked between them, his eyes going back and forth. Awkwardly, he begins to walk away.

Prompto: I'm...I'm just going to go over here now. You know, give you guys some space.

The blonde gunslinger then takes the Rapidus SMG that was clipped to his back, standing guard that was away from their camp.

The two continue to stare at each other before they both sigh, staring at each other with sad eyes.

Aranea: We've calmed down now, right?

Y/N: (long sigh) Yeah.

The grey haired dragoon then sits next to him, laying her head on his shoulder as Y/N rests his head on hers.

Aranea: Where did we go wrong?

Y/N: I-I...I don't know.

They continue to sit there by the fire, the flames orange color illuminating in their eyes. Hands becoming intertwined with each other.

Aranea: Do you think...we could try again?

Y/N: I'm...willing to try again.

Turning their heads to each other, they brought their lips together. They kiss for a few seconds before separating. They stare into each other's eyes, Y/N staring into her green irises while Aranea stared into his blue ones.

Their lips meet again and it becomes a heated session. While Aranea would usually be embarrassed to be showered with this type of affection or if she was treated by a lady, her weakness would be him. After their session, she leans into his chest more as Y/N had wrapped an arm around her.

Aranea: You know, I missed this feeling.

Y/N: Yeah...I did, too.

Aranea: You're not shouldering the burden alone, right? You have your friends to help you.

Y/N: I know. It's just...Specs told me what'll happen to Noct once he comes back. I just wish there was another way.

Their hands intertwine once more as they both stared into the fire.

From the side, Prompto stood a good ways away. He smirked as he snapped a picture with his phone, sending it to Gladiolus.

Prompto: 'They fixed their relationship. They look good together.'

Gladiolus: 'It's about damn time. It was getting pretty sad when they split.'

Prompto puts his phone away, glancing back to the two who were still resting by the fireside.

Timeskip

Resting a bit more, Y/N had fully healed, after resting by the fireplace properly and crushing an elixir in his hand for safe measures, he was about to depart for the forge once more.

But this time, with Prompto and Aranea at his side.

Ascending up, they find Ifrit waiting at the top for him.

Ifrit: So you lived, mortal? How disappointing.

Y/N: ...

Ifrit: Nothing to say? No matter. You shall die here, as well as the ones that accompanied you.

The Infernian summons his sword and begins to walk towards Y/N, Aranea, and Prompto. Y/N looks to Prompto, who nods as he readies his revolver, Lion Heart. Firing Starshell from his gun, the light bullet illuminates the sky as Ifrit becomes afflicted to it because he was now a daemon.

Y/N and Aranea then charge together, Aranea using her signature technique, Highwind. Soaring up into the air, she comes back down with a powerful thrust with her spear. Y/N had ran forward, using the technique Dancing Blade. Ifrit became angered, sending out a heatwave as they were sent back. Prompto sat behind a rock, using his Rapidus SMG to deal damage from afar, which was working. Helping Aranea up, they continue to attack again.

He link-strikes with Aranea, the dragoon thrusting forward with her spear as Y/N jumped off of it, coming down with a meteor slash. He then link-strikes with Prompto, Y/N slashing twice before Prompto slides in next to him, shooting all six bullets from his revolver. Y/N then runs along the wall, leaping off of it as he casts ice spells at Ifrit's legs and arms. Ifrit was feeling weakened as Aranea had used her technique, Dragoon Dive, rushing forward with her spear.

Finishing it off, Y/N had sprinted forward, thrusting the one-handed sword forward as it pierces through Ifrit's chest.

Ifrit: You may have...defeated me here...mortal. But I will come back. The next time we meet...will be the final battle.

Ifrit then disappears, Y/N making his sword disappear as he walks up to the lava pool. Taking out the metal from his pouch once more, he drops it in.

A bright orange light filled the area as the three cover their eyes. It then recedes and Y/N felt something new in his hands.

(A/N): From the Fire Emblem series, is Roy's iconic sword, the Binding Blade.

A small red glow lingered on the blade as flames start to spin around the sword's blade. The big detail was the red gems set in the pommel and in the sword guard. Another detail was the name of the sword had been etched into the metal of the sword.

The Sword of Seals. The Binding Blade.

Taking a few swings with it, it felt right. Happy with his new sword, he sheathes it in the specially made sheath that appeared on his belt.

Turning around, he got a thumbs up from Prompto and a smile from Aranea.

The three then descended down the mountain, back onto Aranea's ship as they set a course for Lestallum. Cor had asked for Prompto and Y/N to assist in the defense of Lestallum as a horde of daemons was marching there.

Timeskip

After the battle, Y/N and Aranea had rented a room at the Leville for the time being. As Y/N had taken off his armor, only left in a tank top and shorts, the silver haired lady had pushed him onto the bed, coming on top of him as she raises his arms over him.

Y/N: What's gotten into you?

Aranea: I'm in the mood again.~ How many rounds can you last?~

Y/N: You sure you can take me again?~

Aranea: Only one way to find out.~

Their lips meet as the scene then pans to the moon.

(A/N): Lemon canceled.

Timeskip-7 Years

It's been seven years and Y/N and Aranea were now together, the proof of their love coming in the form of a child.

They had a girl, who is currently seven. Her name is Eydis.

(A/N): Eydis belongs to Reki Kawahara as she's a character from the game SAO ARS. Her appearance is why.

Eydis had the hair of her mother and strangely enough, red eyes. Y/N concluded that Eydis's eyes had most likely came from his mother, as his mother had red eyes.

Currently, Y/N was aboard Aranea's ship, him dressed in his Crownsguard outfit. It was time. The day the Chosen King returned. He was on his phone, messaging Gladiolus.

Gladiolus: 'On my way to Hammerhead. Prompto and Iggy should be there.'

Y/N: 'I'll be there soon. Eydis is excited to see her uncles again. But she's particularly excited to meet Noct.

Gladiolus: 'Be sure to send her my regards. Aranea, too.'

Y/N: 'Will do.'

???: Father?

Looking up, he sees his seven-year old daughter standing in front of him.

Y/N: Yes, sweetie?

Eydis: How long till we get to Hammerhead.

???2: In a few more hours.

Turning their heads, they see Aranea Highwind walking up to them. Or rather, Aranea L/N.

Y/N: Hello to you.

Meeting for a kiss, they smile at each other, only to hear the protests from their daughter. The two chuckle as Aranea lifts Eydis onto her shoulders, Eydis cheering happily.

Y/N watches as his daughter laughs happily. Y/N then gains a stern look as the drop ship doors open, him gazing out to the island that was near Galdin Quay.

Y/N: (thoughts) We're ready for you, Noct. Ready to help you carry it out.

----

And there we go!

That was Episode Y/N! Hope y'all enjoyed it as I had a good time writing some of the parts. The journey is almost over. Probably a few more chapters left before we really hit the end.

Until the next chapter.
