Mikasa kept a tight hold on her gun, standing still as she the single blue flame vanished above from the two men ahead of her. One was limping, a bandage wrapped around right thigh, stained with blood and mud. The other soldier seemed mostly fine, his uniform dirty and mess as if he was in a scuffle but no injuries that could easily be spotted at least.

She raised her gun, eyes locked on to them as if they were her targets and soon both came to a sudden spot after lifting their heads and seeing her. Fear written across their faces, fight or flight running through their bones but all they could do was stand frozen. No one ever talks about the unwilling froze option that came along with your body telling you to fight or flight, just being trapped in place instead.

"Have you came in contact with anyone with the sickness?" Mikasa asked, her voice cold and empty as she kept her eyes on the two of them. She could still feel her second flame hovering over the third member who was making their way towards them fast.

"Y-Yes but I'm not infected. No rash on our bodies, you can check" The injured soldier called back in a panic, shakily looking towards Mikasa while his comrade helped him to stay standing.

"How did you get injured? Are you sure none of the fluids from the infected got into your bloodstream?" Mikasa asked, slowly walking towards them as she loosely held her gun by her side in hopes to calm the two down.

"No, they held no wounds. It's my own blood. They took my own knife from my sheath, the blade broke after they stabbed me in the thigh, ran off when my friend, Oscar shot at him. He got a hit in the shoulder but the guy got ran off before he could give a kill shot. I'm private Ethan, you?" Ethan replied, giving a weak smile as he shuffled to stand on his own while Oscar stayed standing beside him. Ethan was of average height with light tan skin and a birthmark on his chin. He's got dirty blonde hair and grey eyes, seeming in his early twenties.

"I'm Mikasa, I'm a private too. What's your mission? This town is meant to be left empty" Mikasa replied, keeping her gun lazed beside her but ready to use it if needed.

"A small group of three men was sent out three days and reported in over a group of those with the sickness being within this town. The soldier who ran back to the camp to pass on the news was a man named Noah, he was bringing me, Ethan and Alfie, the last member of our group to this town for us to wipe out the infected. We reached back to this town yesterday, none who were infected was around at first. We walked around the town, setting up camp and going over Noah details. But while we were sleeping last night, Noah turned and killed Alfie. Since, it's like Noah is playing games with us. He keeps running around us, lurking in the dark before hiding up. He's got no weapons, we think, I took Alfie gun apart to stop it from being used. But Ethan is out of bullets and I'm almost out after Noah games. We're trying to get out of town but we think there's more infected around, we can hear them close ... it's like they're laughing at us sometimes" Oscar reported in, shakily running a hand through his hair as he glanced around like Noah would leap out to try and kill them before running off into one of the breaking apart cabins. Oscar seemed a year or two older than Ethan, he was on the tall side and held a bit of muscle to him. Fair skinned with dark brown eyes and light brown hair that reached his shoulders. He wore frameless glasses and held a medic armband on his arm proving he was a trained medic, or as close to one at least.

"He's toying with you, are you sure?" Mikasa asked, feeling a little panicked herself over the unknown Noah actions even while he's infected. He may just as well be one of the rare ones able to think up traps still.

"Yes, we're trapped animals awaiting to be slaughtered. That's how it feels and I'm sure I'm starting to go mad with all these tricks he's using to spook us" Oscar answered straight away, knowing they shouldn't be wasting any time.

"I've found some survivors but it's not safe to lead them to the camp if Noah is running around and still able to think like a hunter to it's prey. He might just follow them back to camp and than we'll be another camp day within days" Mikasa sighed, slipping her gun back into her thigh holder and glancing in the direction she told the rest to go too if she didn't return in five minutes.

"Catch up with them, Ethan can't run in this state and we'll only slow you down. We've signed up to die like simple tools, your survivors haven't. Save the camp, we'll wobble our way in the direction of it if we're not being followed ourselves" Oscar replied completely serious, he knew the risks ad Ethan carried by being with her. He also knew that Ethan couldn't just be rushed back to camp until they know he's not leaving any blood trails or that Noah wasn't still messing with them.

"Thank you" Mikasa simple muttered before running off, not looking back as she knew what was more important right now. Her mission, her brother and her gifted.

"Why didn't you tell her?" Ethan asked in a soft voice, glancing to his friend.

"You lied to her first" Oscar replied, slipping his arm around his friend before helping him limp towards the closest building.

"I never once lied, I'm not infected and neither of us hold a rash" Ethan mumbled back, grunting as he started sliding down the wall to sit down, leaving his leg stretched out in front of him.

"I'll gain a rash soon. There's no point dying as a coward. I won't allow myself to be consumed by anger and hate. I won't help kill the last of the human race off, we're already almost excitant and I've worked hard trying to keep as many of us alive as I can. Not going to waste my effects by killing people" Oscar sighed, sitting down beside his friend and pulling out his gun mag, looking to the two single bullets.

"You don't know if your infected, there's no rash just yet" Ethan mumbled back as he leaned his head against the rotting wooden wall behind them.

"Yet, is the key word. Noah's saliva was on your broken blade handle that's currently wedged in my back. Takes a single drop of fluid to pass on the sickness. There's only one cure left to save me now but you still have a chance. You can limp back to camp, live your life a little bit longer" Oscar smiled, sliding the mag back into his gun and glancing up to the sky before wincing as he caught the broken blade handle against the wall when he shuffled a little.

"We've stuck together for this long, can't let you face the after life alone" Ethan smiled, glancing to his friend who chuckled.

"Your wound can still heal and you can still save many more. Don't waste other lives just to stick with me. I'm sure I can handle the after life long enough on my own until it's your time to join me. Now, close your eye. You don't have to see me like this .. just, remember me how I was and if you ever see my mama, tell her I love her. Don't  tell her I got sick, just say It was a quick painless death" Oscar smiled a sadden smile, tear's in his eyes as he clicked the barrel back before lifting the gun to his head.

"I promise" Ethan whispered, his eyes tightly closed and he flinched as a gunshot echoed beside him. His ears ringing and he just took a shaky breath.

"Your mama dead, Oscar. She died while we were still in training. I hid the letter from you, all this time I hid the truth because I knew she was all you had left and was the reason you kept fighting. Sending her that money in hopes she could live a little better but she's gone, she starved slowly and all by herself. I'm sorry my friend, I'm so sorry but I won't be saving anyone else either" Ethan cried, his hands shaking as he stole his friend gun before another gunshot filled the air.

Mikasa froze outside the cabin she told the other's to hide inside. Turning to look over her shoulder, staring off towards the direction the gunshots came for. Her head lowering as she knew what they had meant, the look in the soldiers eyes was something she's seen many times, she's seen the aftermath of those looks as well.

Her frown deepening before she turned back to the cabin, noticing the door was half hanging on it's hatch.

Time to see if the other's waited or were already on the move.
