Chapter 10

Day 30

I haven't seen Megatron for over a week. I don't know what's going through his mind, or what's happening in the outside world. I've been left alone in here except for the occasional vehicon coming in to bring me energon.

I'm not afraid to say that I miss Megatron now. There's not a lot of things that I can do in my room. I've mostly been looking into ways to break out of my room, but humans are so limited. I don't even care if Megatron knows what I'm doing, I need to get out of here. I need to go back home. It's been over six months since I was brought onto the ship. I miss my family.

Thunderburst was shocked out of her thoughts by the door opening. She looked up in surprise to see Soundwave there. She tilted her head at him. Only Megatron or vehicons came to the door.

"What's up?" she asked, wary of what the faceless con might do. He stood there, not saying anything, but a ground bridge opened up in her room. Thunderburst's face narrowed in confusion, which he picked up on as a recording played.

"Send her home", Megatron's came from Soundwave. He sounded tired, which worried the femme. "She deserves that much. Send her back to the Autobots." Another recording played. "No, I'm not going to go see her. I don't deserve to see her. She was right when she said that I'm messed up in the helm."

Thunderburst's spark sank. She closed her optics for a brief moment. When they opened however, they were filled with determination. "Where is he?"

Soundwave's posture straightened, and map appeared on his visor. Thunderburst quickly scanned, and noted her path. The ground bridge closed, and the femme smiled at the con.

"Thanks, Sounders", she said softly. "You're the best wingman Megatron could have."

Soundwave nodded, and Thunderburst took off. She ran through the hallways, past vehicons, she even passed a surprised Knockout and Breakdown. She barely called out a greeting to them before she was turning down the next hallway.

Finally, she stood in front of a pair of closed doors. They were locked from the inside, and Thunderburst realized that these had to be Megatron's quarters. She paused, but her spark urged her knock. She continued to hesitate, doubts flooding her brain. Her spark screamed at her to knock, and the femme swore that it even asked if she knew how to knock. She took a deep breath, and though it was unnecessary, it gave her that courage finally knock.

The doors opened shortly after, and she found herself looking at Megatron's midriff. She looked up to see the warlord's surprised optics.

"Thunderburst?" he asked. "What are you doing here? I thought you would've jumped at the chance to go home." He looked away, but not before the femme saw the sadness that crossed his optics. Instead of speaking, Thunderburst grabbed his giant servo with her own tiny one. Again the surprised optics came back, and with a frog in her throat, she finally managed to speak.

"If you're going to send me away, at least do it in person", she quietly laughed, but it wasn't a happy laugh. "Though I don't know that I would have left even if you were there. I have too much I need to say."

Megatron didn't say anything, and instead pulled his hand away. His reaction startled Thunderburst, especially when he turned away from her. She stared at his back as he walked further into his room. He paused a few paces away, before glancing back at her.

"Are you coming?" His voice was soft, and the sadness vibrated in the air around them. She silently followed, and found herself sitting on a metal couch. Megatron sat next to her, but he still refused to look at her.

Thunderburst found herself lost for words as she sat next to him, and the two cybertronians sat in an awkward silence.

"What did you wish to talk about?" Megatron finally asked, his voice still quiet, and not the strong and powerful voice she had gotten used to hearing. Thunderburst opened her mouth but nothing came out, instead she just stared at him. He glanced at her, and sighed.

"You should go", he muttered. Thunderburst finally moved, but it was not the way that Megatron had expected. If she was honest, she hadn't expected to lean forward and kiss him, either, but her spark had taken control of her body for a split second.

She pulled away, shock across both of their faces. Thunderburst scrambled up, racing towards the door.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that", she sputtered out as she ran across the room. The doors opened as she approached, but she paused to look back behind her.

Megatron still hadn't moved, his optics trained on her form. She smiled softly, and mouthed a simple sentence. She didn't know if he would be able to understand what she said, but she counted that as saying it, and she raced off, pausing to talk to a few vehicons to ask where Soundwave was. She quickly found out that he was in the bridge, and ran that way.

The moment she entered the bridge, Soundwave turned to look at her, and without her having to say a word, a ground bridge opened. She grinned, and hugged the con before darting through the bridge.

She came out in the desert, in the exact same spot where she and Megatron had made their deal in the first place. The femme smiled sadly, but it quickly disappeared as she transformed and raced off. She knew her comms and weapons were still deactivated so she had to drive all the way back to base.

However, luck seemed to be on her side, as a groundbridge opened before she could get very far. Thunderburst skidded to a halt, kicking up dust, and transformed. She narrowed her optics, and got into a fighting stance. However, it was not the Autobots as she was expecting. Instead it was a familiar vehicon.

"Steve?" Thunderburst said, tilting her helm. "What are you doing here?"

"You forgot your sword", the vehicon answered, holding out a brilliant red sword. The color reminded the femme of Megatron's optics and a wave of sadness crashed over her. She closed her eyes for a brief moment, but when she opened them, she smiled softly.

"Tell him to keep it. As a reminder of what might have been", she whispered. Steve nodded, and walked back through the groundbridge. It closed, and the femme sighed softly. She transformed again, and drove off, but more slowly this time. She found herself not wanting to go back to the Autobots, and the closer she got, the more she dreaded returning. Optimus would likely want an account of what had happened while she was with the Decepticons, and they wouldn't believe that the con had just let her go.

She was about an hour away from the base when another groundbridge opened, and she skidded to a halt again, asphalt flying up around her. She transformed, and got in a fighting position once more, though she realized that there were very few cybertronians who wanted to hurt her now. And she was protected by two of the most powerful cybertronians that existed on this planet now.

Red and blue armor appeared in her vision, and she relaxed. "Optimus!" she exclaimed, running toward her brother. "It's good to see you!"

The Prime was surprised to see the femme, which was evident in his eyes, as well as it streaming through the spark bond.

"Are you okay?" he immediately asked. "You're not hurt, are you?"

It was rare to see Optimus so worried, but she knew that it wouldn't last. Soon, he would go back to his Primely state.

"I'm fine, OP", Thunderburst said, patting his lower arm. "Megatron didn't hurt me."

"Then why are you sad?" Optimus said, crouching down so he could look his sister in the optics. Thunderburst frowned, unhappy that she never got the upgrade she had asked for. Ratchet didn't have the technology to do that, so she would be stuck at this size for a while longer.

"I'm not sad", Thunderburst argued, and immediately started thinking about the fun she had with Knockout and Breakdown and Steve and Adrian. Her happiness soon overwhelmed the feelings of sadness.

Even though she did her best to hide it, the femme could see in Optimus' eyes that he didn't believe her. She shrugged, and walked around him to the ground bridge.

"Let's go home, Optimus", she said softly. "I'll explain later."

Optimus didn't say anything, and merely followed the small femme into the bridge.
