Chapter 18

Olivia's gaze drifted past Liam, and her brow furrowed as she noticed another man standing nearby. He was tall and broad-shouldered, and piercing eyes that seemed to bore into her. Liam, oblivious to the newcomer's presence, continued talking, his words fading into the background as Olivia's attention was drawn to this mysterious figure.

She gave Liam a curious look, her lips pressed together in a thoughtful expression. She wanted to ask him about the stranger, but something held her back. Perhaps it was the intensity of the man's gaze, or the way he seemed to be studying her every move. Whatever the reason, Olivia found herself reluctant to break the silence, instead choosing to observe the situation unfolding before her.

As the conversation continued, Olivia couldn't help but steal glances at the stranger, her heart fluttering with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. There was something about him that intrigued her, a certain magnetism that she couldn't quite place. She wondered who he was, what brought him here, and why he seemed so focused on her.

Liam, unaware of the silent exchange, rambled on, his enthusiastic gestures and animated expressions a stark contrast to the stranger's stoic demeanor. Olivia listened with half an ear, her mind preoccupied with the mystery before her.

Time seemed to slow as Olivia and the stranger's eyes met, a silent connection forming between them. In that moment, the rest of the world faded away, and Olivia felt a spark of electricity that she couldn't quite explain. She knew she should turn her attention back to Liam, but the pull of the stranger's gaze was too strong.

Olivia's heart raced, and she couldn't help but wonder what this chance encounter might mean for her future. As she continued to navigate the complexities of her relationship with Liam, the presence of this mysterious stranger had already begun to shift the course of her life in ways she couldn't have anticipated.

"Olivia?" he said softly, his voice laced with a mixture of concern and hurt. "Olivia, can you hear me?"

Olivia offered him a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, Liam. Just...lost in my own head for a bit." She squeezed his hand, relishing the warmth of his touch. "But I'm here now. With you."

Liam returned her smile, though a hint of sadness lingered in his eyes. "I'm glad you're back. I was starting to worry." He paused, his thumb tracing soothing circles on the back of her hand. "You know how you have no memory of your past?"

Olivia's brow furrowed slightly. "yes, i know" She let out a soft sigh. "Sometimes I wish I could unlock those memories, you know? Understand where I came from, who I used to be."

Olivia's heart raced as Liam's words echoed in her mind. "I found something from your past that you don't remember." She stared at him, her eyes wide with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. What could he possibly have discovered about her history that she had forgotten?

Liam could see the questions swirling in Olivia's gaze, and he reached out to gently take her hand in his own. His touch was warm and reassuring, and it helped to calm the storm of emotions within her. "It's nothing to be afraid of, I promise," he said softly. "I stumbled upon an someone you use to know."

Olivia's brow furrowed as she tried to imagine what person he could be referring to. She wracked her brain, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't recall anything from her past that she had forgotten. "Who is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Olivia's heart pounded in her chest as she watched the exchange unfold before her. Before Liam could utter a word, Ethan stepped forward, his gaze unwavering as he fixed it on Olivia. The air seemed to thicken with tension, and Olivia found herself holding her breath, bracing for whatever he was about to say.

"Olivia," Ethan began, his voice low and sincere. "There's something I need to tell you." He paused, and Olivia felt a sense of unease wash over her. What could he possibly have to say that was so important?

Ethan took a deep breath and continued, "I'm your brother."

Olivia's eyes widened in shock, and she felt the world around her start to spin. Her brother? How could that be possible? She racked her brain, trying to make sense of this unexpected revelation, but the pieces just didn't seem to fit.

Ethan, sensing the tension in the air, stepped closer to Olivia, his expression softening. "I know this must be a lot to take in," he said gently. "But I promise, I'm telling you the truth. We're siblings, Olivia, and I've been searching for you for so long."

Olivia's mind was racing, a thousand questions swirling in her head. How could she have never known about this? And why was Ethan only now revealing this to her? Was it possible that he was telling the truth, that they really were related?

As Olivia struggled to find her voice, Liam finally spoke up, his brow furrowed with concern. "It's true Olivia?" he said, his tone cautious.

Ethan turned to face Liam, his gaze unwavering. "I've done the research, the DNA tests," he replied. "There's no doubt in my mind. Olivia is my sister."

Olivia felt a lump forming in her throat, and she suddenly found it difficult to breathe. This was all too much to process, too much to take in. She needed time, space, to make sense of this revelation and what it meant for her life.

Liam seemed to sense her distress and gently placed a hand on her shoulder, offering her a reassuring squeeze. Olivia looked up at him, her eyes brimming with unshed tears, and for a moment, she found solace in his comforting presence.

As Ethan watched the interaction between Olivia and Liam, a flicker of emotion crossed his face, something akin to longing or regret. But it was gone as quickly as it had appeared, and Olivia couldn't help but wonder what it all meant.

Olivia's heart raced as she rushed across the room. Relief flooded through her, and without a moment's hesitation, she flung herself into his arms. Ethan stopped, his arms instinctively wrapped around his sister. "Olivia?" he breathed, his voice laced with a mixture of surprise and concern. Olivia buried her face against his chest, drinking in the familiar scent of sandalwood and old parchment that clung to him. "Nothing," she murmured, her words muffled. Ethan's brow furrowed as he gently smoothed a hand over Olivia's soft, curls.

Olivia took a deep breath, steeling herself for the conversation she knew they needed to have. The air between them felt thick with unresolved tension, a weight that had been pressing down on her for far too long. As Ethan sat beside her on the couch, she could feel his gaze, expectant and uncertain.

"Ethan," she began, her voice soft yet resolute. "I think it's time we talked about...us. About our past." She met his eyes, searching for a flicker of understanding, of readiness to confront the truth they had both been avoiding.

Ethan nodded slowly, his expression unreadable. "I've been waiting for this, Olivia. I think you're right. It's time we faced it head-on."

Olivia took his hand, the familiar warmth of his skin sending a bittersweet pang through her heart.

Ethan sat there, his eyes filled with a mixture of sorrow and determination. He had avoided this conversation for so long, but now he knew the time had come to finally open up and share the truth with Olivia. Taking a deep breath, he began.

"You know, Liv, I've been dreading this moment for years. The day when I'd have to relive the painful memories of how we got separated all those years ago. But I realize now that keeping it bottled up inside has only made the burden heavier to bear. You deserve to know the truth."
