chapter 20
Author's pov
They are all having breakfast quietly. Noor is sitting beside Veer.
"Dad the new project..."
"Kal shaddi hui hai teri yaar. Biwi pe dhiyan de. Kaam mai dekh lu ga. (You just got married yesterday, dude. Pay attention to your wife. I will handle work.)" His father cut him off.
"But dad, work is important, and Noor understands this better." Veer replied and then turned to Noor. "Am I right, Begum?"
"Humm." She just hummed quietly.
"Noor bache have this." Ira said, giving her more prantha.
"No, Maa, I'm full." She denied.
"OK. Bye everyone." Veer said, getting up from his seat.
"Rukk (wait)." Ira said, and he stopped.
"Ji Maa?" he asks.
"Until Noor finishes her breakfast, STAY." She emphasized the words stay and Veer sit down quietly. He knows it's better not to argue with his mother. He waited till everyone finished their breakfast.
Once they were done, he got up again.
"Now I'll leave."
"Who told you to leave?" Ira asked, arching her eyebrow.
Veer opened his mouth to say something, but Ira left. He turned to his father, gave him a look, and said, "Your wife is getting on my nerves."
"You brought this upon you by yourself; now suffer." His father replied with a mocking smile.
Veer huffed and sat back while screaming, "MAA YAAR, I'M GETTING LATE."
Ira came back with two small boxes and handed them over to Veer.
"What is this?" he asks.
"Something that you forgot." Ira replied and turned to Noor. "See Noor. I will never force you into anything. I will always respect your beliefs and your priorities. You can follow your religion the way you like. I will never interfere, nor will I force you to follow mine. God is one and is divided by humans.
But as a married woman, the only thing I will expect from you is that you can wear this nuptial chain and vermillion. Just wear it as a part of jewelry and makeup; I will never mind, but I would love it if you wore these two things. As these are the signs of your marriage, it is considered auspicious to wear them." Ira said, and Noor looked at Veer with a pondering heartbeat.
She gulped, and Veer gave her a pleaded look with eyes. She nodded nervously, and Ira smiled broadly.
"Ab khda kya hai? Pehna na. (Now, why are you standing? Come on, put it on her." Ira said to Veer excitedly.
Veer took the nuptical chain and stood behind Noor. She pushed her braid sideways, and Noor's heart was beating fast.
Veer put the chain around her neck, and she felt an electric shock in her whole system when Veer's fingers brushed softly on her skin
"Pratap, what are you looking at? Take their pictures and capture this moment." Ira said, smiling, and Pratap started taking their pictures.
Then Veer came in front of her, and their eyes locked. Veer took a pinch of vermillion and applied it to the partition between her head.
Noor is blinking nervously, much to her surprise. Veer palmed her face and kissed her forehead.
She is shocked and surprised; her heart skipped a beat. But Pratap and Ira are happy.
Ira made a circle with her hands in the air and then touched her hands on both sides of her head.
"Dono ko kisi ki nazar na lage. (Both should not be jinxed by anyone.)" Ira said, and Noor ran from there.
Both Ira and Pratap looked at her running figure.
Veer laughed to cool the atmosphere and said, "Shrma gai (I think she is just shy)" and ran after her.
Noor, come inside her room and go out towards the small terrace garden out of the glass door.
She is taking shaky, deep breaths when Veer comes.
"Are you ok?" he asked.
"No, I'm not." She snapped, touching her nuptical chain with shaking hands. "This is not right. I can't play with their emotions. Your parents are so nice, and I can't deceive them like this."
"Stop saying useless things." He said this while taking a step towards her, and she took a step back.
"Don't." She warned, showing her palm, and Veer stopped in his tracks. "Don't come close, and WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" She yelled, pointing toward her forehead.
"We are married..."
"That doesn't give you the right to touch me." She cut him off.
"For your kind of information, I would love to touch a cactus or thorn rather than you." Veer hissed, and she gave him an I'll eat you alive look. "We are happily married out of love, so I have to act in front of them." He said that, and she scoffed.
"Trust me, I feel like vomiting, but I have to act, and you too. Just for a year. That's it." Veer said.
"Why are you deceiving them? They love you so much." Noor ask.
"Yeah, and why did you lie to your family? When you knew how they would react?" Veer questioned back.
"It's none of your business." She replied instantly.
"Exactly my point. It's none of your business." Veer said and left for office.
The whole day, Noor spent in her new room and looked around. The room is really big for a single person.
The whole room has a black interior, along with a bathroom and walk-in closet.
In front of the bed, there is a big LED screen with uncountable video games placed around it, like a design.
On the left of the bed, there is a couch and coffee table, and on the right, there is a glass door that leads to a beautiful terrace garden, and there is also a swimming pool there.
Ira accompanied her the whole day so she wouldn't feel left out. In the evening, when the males came back home, they all had evening tea together in the garden outside.
Ira gave Noor a tour of the whole house as well.
In the evening, after dinner, they both come back to their room, and Noor makes her bed on the couch to sleep there, but before sleeping, she does her Namaz.
It's kind of her routine after her so-called marriage.
She woke up, prayed, ate, stayed in her room, had time with Ira, fought with Veer, and went to sleep.
A week passed like this, and on the other hand, Inayat is pressuring her family to marry her soon.
Her family agreed, and they talked with Shah's as well.
But no one in Shah Mansion is ready, and Inayat's family keeps pressuring them.
"Inayat, you have to convince your parents to delay it." Aadhil said to Inayat:
"No, I can't, Aadhil." She denied.
"Try to understand. The ambience in the house is not good. Everyone is sad about what happened......"
"You have to understand Aadhil. We have to marry." She cut him off.
"I know, but now is not the right time."
"Only now is the right time," Inayat said.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?" Aadhil yelled, and she flinched badly. "My family is already suffering."
"If we don't get married soon, then our child will suffer." Inayat cried, and Aadhil was stunned.
"What?" he whispered.
"Yes, I'm pregnant." She cried, and Aadhil is shocked. "I'm already 4 weeks pregnant, Aadhil, please. If anyone finds out, then our child will suffer." She pleaded.
But Aadhil is standing like a statue.
"Aadhil please."
"Noor knew about it? didn't she?" He asked instead. His brain didn't take much time to understand all of this.
Inayat is just crying. Aadhil held her by the shoulders and shook her. "ANSWER ME?"
"Yes." She whispered, and Aadhil was surprised.
"She did everything because of you, and you badmouthed her." Aadhil asks with greeted teeth. "I never thought you would stoop so low." He said it accusingly.
"I don't have other options." She cried.
"SHUT UP!!!!" Aadhil yelled.
"I swear. I never wanted to, but Noor forced me to say those things. I swear. I swear to my child, Aadhil. I never wanted this." She was crying. "That day, Noor called me in the morning and said to bring Saad home with me. She said I had to say bad things about her. I asked her why she was saying all this, and she said she was doing everything for our child." Inayat tried to explain herself.
"Don't lie."
"No, I'm not." She said, "If I had a little idea that she was going to take such a drastic step, then I'd never tell her."
"Then why did you tell her and not me?" Aadhil is so angry, but he is only trying to control himself.
"Because marrying Noor with Saad was the only option to save our children. If anyone finds out, then they will probably kill our child. So I pleaded with Noor to marry Saad, but she denied it, so I was forced to tell her about my pregnancy."
Hearing her words, Aadhil had tears in his eyes. Not for the woman standing in front of his eyes, but for the woman who lost everything for the sake of his child.
He turned towards his car, and Inayat ran after her.
"AADHIL!!!!! AADHIL!!!!."
But he drove away and stopped in front of Randhawa's mansion.
He ran inside and asked for Noor.
Veer and Pratap are in the office, and Ira is also not home. A maid called Noor, and she came downstairs.
Seeing her coming down, Aadhil ran to her and hugged her tightly.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He apologized, crying. Noor also had tears in her eyes. "Why did you do this, Noor? Even knowing that Bhaijan will be angry with you. You choose his anger and take his wrath for my child."
"That child also means something to me." She whispered.
Aadhil broke their hug and wiped her eyes. "I will tell Bhaijan."
"No please. No. No one should ever know about this. Please."
"But Noor."
"No please. If your child and Laiba are happy like this, then I'm also happy."
"Bhaijan should know about it." Aadhil said.
"No, Aadhil Bhaijan, please. It's a request from your sister. Don't tell anyone." She cried. "Apko meri kasam. (You have my swear.)"
"Noor?"
"Please."
"Why do you have to marry him then?" Aadhil asks, "Bhaijan won't be that angry if you never married him."
"Because I love him."
