Chapter 16

Author's pov

Veer is watching everything quietly, and when it started getting worse, he took Noor out of Shah Mansion.

Her pleadings, cries, and sobbs hurt him even though he couldn't understand why. He held her wrist and dragged her out. He can't see his wife getting humiliated by anyone. Even though she is just his namesake wife.

"Noor, let's go."

"Noooo, Bhaijan, please talk to me." Her screams are not ready to stop.

When they come out, she collapses on the ground. Crying her heart out.

"YAAH ALLAH!!! WHY??? WHY?? BHAIJAN....BHAIJAN..."  She is crying badly while screaming for her brother.

Shahzaib is her life, which she killed with her own hands.

Veer crouched to her level, and he had no idea how to console her because she is the person whom he has seen confident all the time, but now she is broken.

He can't understand why she even agreed to his proposal if she knew her brother would react like this.

Because he knows from school days how much her brother means to her.

"Noor, stop crying and hold yourself together." He said it calmly.

"Bhaijan.....Bhaijan." She sobbed, looking at the entrance to her house.

"Let's go. Get up." He said this, trying to stand her on her feet.

"Where will I go? I have nowhere to go." She whispered in between her sobs.

"Look at me." He said this, palming her cheeks.

"Bhaijan...bhaijan...." That's all she is muttering with each sob.

"Ab kya faida rone ka? Mujh se Nikkah ker leti too, aaj ye nobat na atti. Per nhi tumnai mujhe chod ker iss kaffir ko chuna ab bhugtoo. Vaise tumhare jaisi ghatiya ld..... (Now what's the point of crying? You would have never faced such a situation if you had married me. But no, you chose this faithless man and now suffer. Bye the way, a characterlesss Gi..." Saad was saying, but Veer didn't let him complete his nonsense and clawed his neck.

"How dare you say such words for her?" Veer said with gritted teeth, tightening the hold around his neck. Saad is squirming to loosen his hold. But Veer tightened it more.

"Ab mere upper zor dikha re ho (now you are showing your strength to me)" Saad managed to utter those words difficultly.

"I was quiet because they were her family. I have no right to talk between them. They are hurt, but you, asshole, are no one. Yahi zinda gaad du ga agar meri biwi k bare mai kuch Bola (I will bury you alive if you say a word about my wife)." Veer said this in anger and threw him on the ground.

Saad rubbed his neck and took deep breaths while coughing. Inayat came out, running to her brother.

He turned to Noor and said very calmly, "Noor, get up." But all she is doing is crying her heart out.

"ENOUGH!!!! NOOR." He said it frustratingly, and she flinched. He crouched to her level, held her cheeks in his hands, and said it as calmly as he could.

"If you don't stop crying, Noor, you will only make yourself sick, and I'm pretty sure that's not what your brother wants. He is upset and angry, but he never wants anything bad to happen to you. Now stop crying." He said, wiping her tears.

Noor is just looking at him dumbfounded. He made her stand on her feet and took her towards the car.

"Get Inside." He said that, and she quietly turned and looked at her house for one last time because she knew that Shahzaib would never forgive her.

She is looking at the place with moist eyes. Tears might have blurred her vision, but she can clearly see her childhood in front of her eyes.

The days she spent here were happy and sad, both because she had her family with her, but now she is all alone.

They had made this house their home together. Shahzaib worked hard to gain back everything that her mother lost.

Her mother and brother never let her lack for anything.

Now she is leaving her home again. Last time was her ego, but this time is her love—love for her siblings that she never knew existed.

She closed her eyes, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I'm sorry, Bhaijan. Ho ske too mujhe maaf kerdena (please forgive me if it's  possible)."She muttered with a shaky breath, wiped her eyes, and sat inside the car.

Veer went to the other side and settled into the driving seat. He gave her a water bottle to "drink."

She sniffed and took the bottle.

The ride is quiet to Veer's home; neither of them utters a single word, but his mind is occupied with infinite possibilities.

He is fighting an internal battle. He doesn't know how his mother is going to react, but he is damn sure that he won't let anything happen to her. His wife. His responsibility. Marriage is not a joke.

Its just a contract for a year, but she is his responsibility, and he will take care of her.

He knows that this girl sitting beside him has already lost everything, and somehow Veer is blaming himself for being the reason, and he will not let her suffer more, and that's for sure because now she is his responsibility.

They might get married for a year, but for this entire year, he will take care of her the way she deserves.

Marriage is a sacred bond, and Veer respects it.

"Now you are my responsibility, and I won't let anything happen to you." He promised himself.

By the time they reached his mansion, Veer had parked the car, and Noor had come out of her thoughts.

She looked out and saw her destination. She is scared and nervous.

Just a few minutes ago, she lost her family, and now she has to face the anger of complete strangers as well.

Because she knows somewhere in hurt that Veer's family will also react the same as hers.

"Don't be scared, Noor. I won't let anything happen to you." Veer assured her and held her hand to help her out of the car, and they both headed inside.

A maid opened the door, and she gasped beyond being shocked.

"Madam..." she ran inside, screaming for Ira.

Noor's heart is beating insanely. She doesn't know what is coming for her.

Veer squeezed her hand in assurance and gave her nod.

"What happened, Kamala?" Come out, Ira, from the kitchen.

"Woh chote baba (young master)" She shuddered, and Ira followed her gaze.

Her eyes were wide open in shock, looking at her son. Standing  beside a girl and holding garlands.

"Veer ?" She questioned.

"Maa, meet Noor." Veer introduced.

"Woh too, theek hai per (that's OK, but) why you are..."

Before Ira could complete her sentence, Veer said in one breath, "Apki bahu hai (she is your daughter-in-law)" and hid behind Noor.

Noor was surprised and shocked by his actions and looked at Ira, gulping.

"KYA? (WHAT?)" Ira yelled.
