Chapter 15
Jeongguk was here now. He has arrived at the town where Taehyung was. Even though he has his address he can't just directly show up at his house. He can't follow his parents' footsteps and so he decided to rent a room for now. From this moment on he will try to look for an opportunity through which he can appear in front of Taehyung without making him suspicious of his intentions.
He had done his research on his way here and already knew where he would find a perfectly furnished flat. He had already asked his parents for money for his flight tickets, so he couldn't burden them more by asking them for his hotel expenses. He had saved enough from his part time jobs to pay some advance for a flat and other then that he has to start looking for a job in case he'll have to stay here for long. His parents kept insisting that he shouldn't worry about the money and only concentrate on winning his mate's heart but their current financial status told a different story. Yes they used be one of those well to do families, but Jeongguk ruined that. At least that's what he believes in his heart. When Jeongguk's parents started travelling around in search of his wolf, they couldn't give much attention to their business. The company did fine for a while, but eventually they started loosing their sales. They do own a fancy house and car, but they've come to a point where his parents no longer run a company but actually work under one. Even after all this, they never once blamed Jeongguk for it or even let their condition affect them in the slightest. They pretend everything is fine, but Jeongguk knows it isn't and he doesn't want to add onto their difficulties. It was his mate so even the miseries should be his alone. Not anyone else's.
He booked a cab to reach his destination and after asking around a bit he found a perfect place to stay. It was at least perfect for his wallet.
The apartment had a small room with with a kitchen separated from it by a wall partition. The bathroom was just as small and it didn't have a bathtub and that disappointed him a bit, but he knew he could make do with it. At least he didn't have to share a bathroom with strangers. He had a bed, a ceiling fan and even a table fan which the landlord claimed to be a bonus so he was positive that this was the best he could have asked for.
"I'll take it, but I'll move in right away." Jeongguk said to the landlord who was showing him around the apartment.
"I'm okay with that. But you have to pay right away too." The landlord declared sternly which made me a little anxious.
"I can only pay half the rent right now. I'll pay the remaining half by the end of the month, I promise." Jeongguk stated nervously.
"That shouldn't be a problem." The landlord answered reassuringly.
"It isn't?" Jeongguk asked again to confirm.
"Not as long as you don't pay me even by the end of the month. You have your ID right? I'll need them in order to make sure you're not a criminal on loose." Jeongguk wasn't sure if the man was serious or not but he decided to give him an awkward smile nonetheless.
"Yeah. Wait a minute." Jeongguk said as he opened his bag to take out his IDs. Starting with his passport to his driving license to his student ID card he gave him all. By the time he was done the landlord had both his hands full of IDs.
"Fancy photo you have here. I can see you put on make up that day." Jeongguk's face tinted red in embarrassment as the old man eyed his passport photo while tossing his other IDs on the bed. He had indeed put on some makeup that day.
"This should do." The landlord stated as he started writing all his personal information on a form he had brought along and soon gave him back his passport. Jeongguk then made the half payment and that, pretty much completed the procedure.
"If you ever want to buy any groceries but don't feel like going to the grocery shop then you can look for a boy playing nearby. He runs errand for everyone who lives in this building but he takes his commission. He's a sweet boy so never try to make him do anything else that involves more that just a run by the market. But in case you want to go yourself but don't know where the market is then you can ask him to assist you. He won't charge you for that. As I said he's a sweet boy, so he doesn't charge people when they ask him for his help. Got it?" The landlord informed.
"Yes, thank you. I'll keep that in mind." Jeongguk said.
"I'll take my leave now. You should settle in." The landlord said and turned to make his leave but Jeongguk stopped him midway.
"Umm do you know where this address is?" Jeongguk asked as he showed the piece of paper in which he had noted down the address. He knew he will have to take a cab anyway so there wasn't any point in asking him, but he just wanted to make sure that he wouldn't end going to the wrong place
"Well yes I do. It's a bit far from the city. Away from the city rush. Do you plan on going here?" The landlord inquired.
"Yes. Right now in fact." Jeongguk informed him.
"Well it's a bit far. I would suggest you not to take a cab. Take the metro (Idk if they have it) till the X station and then it's a 10 minutes distance, for that you can call a cab. This way you'll save time and money too. Especially money." The landlord suggested which made Jeongguk smile appreciatively.
"Thanks a lot for the advise. Oh and before I go I wanted to inform you something." Jeongguk nervously shifted in his place as he quietly voiced the information.
"I'm Gay." Jeongguk peered at the man from the corner of his eyes as he anticipated for an outburst.
"Well I don't have a son." The landlord informed matter of factly.
"What? No! I..I just wanted to clarify it from the beginning. I've seen how conservative some old people can be and in case you were one of them I didn't want you to kick me out in the middle of the night." Jeongguk said explaining himself.
"You shouldn't be so anxious Jeongguk . I know you're very young and this is probably your first time being away from your parents. At least in these kind of situations. But you should remember that no one can hurt you unless you let them. Be strong lad, physically and mentally." As the man's word sunk in, Jeongguk realised that he was telling the truth. He was indeed very anxious. Partly because he was a bit scared of these new experiences, and partly because he didn't like being away from his mate for so long. Not just Taehyung, he missed Taejung too. He was always on the edge as he thought about them. Even if he won't be able to meet them, he at least wanted to feel their presence. Being so far away from them was weakening their bond and he didn't like that. He wanted to get as close to them as possible.
"I'll be fine. Once I get there. I'll be fine."
