I felt my bed dip as Hayden climbed onto it. Just 5 more minutes I say to myself as I snuggled deeper into the covers. "I don't think so Luce." He chuckled "it's almost 8am and seeing as you can't drive yet it's my job to get you to school on time."

"Go home then , school isn't appealing to me today and since when did you become the advocate for showing up to school on time anyway?" I asked

"Since your parents gave me an earful the last time I dropped you off to school late. Don't you remember?"

"Yeah." I laugh into the covers "sorry about that." I begrudgingly lifted my head out of the covers and smiled at the boy in front of me.

Hayden Williams , Oaklands very own bad boy who just so happens to be my best friend along with my very own personal taxi service. "Don't make me pull the covers of you Lucia."

"You wouldn't dare." I hiss

He jumped off the bed and grabbed a corner of the blanket "oh really?" He chuckled and with one quick pull the blanket came flying off my body.

"You absolute Dick." I screamed "it's freezing outside."

"I did warn you." I ignore his comment and launch a pillow at his chest "You're an ass Hayden Williams."

"But I'm your favourite ass. Now hurry up , I'll wait for you downstairs."

Murmuring a string of curse words at him as he leaves the room I managed to drag myself out of bed and towards the direction of my wardrobe. I hated winter and everything about it , nothing about the cold and the rain appealed to me what so ever. 30 minutes later I'm ready , sending a quick text to the girls to tell them I'm on my way I make my way downstairs in search of Hayden. "I'm ready for my day of torture." I call out as I enter the living room.

"About time too , I was about to call search and rescue." He replies as he walks towards the front door

"Oh HA HA." I say , rolling my eyes at his sarcastic comment. Picking up my bag from by the door we both make our way out to Hayden's car , a matte black Audi TT. Sometimes I think he loves that car more than he loves himself.

"Can't we just turn around?" I ask as my school comes into view. "It's not like you've got anything important to do today , we could go to the cinema or something I'd take anything over 6 hours in this utter hell hole."

"Don't think so princess , like I said I'm not risking the agro from your parents."

"Screw you." I murmur as the car comes to a stop inside the school gates

"I love you too , see you at three."

Flipping him off I make my way towards my form room , only 5 hours and 59 minutes to go.

"Ouch , someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." Laughs Ricky

"Shut it sweetie , you weren't rudely woken up by the resident idiot." I reply

"If I had that hunk of a man waking me up for school most mornings I'd be in a much better mood than you. The things I'd do to that boy."

"TMI Casanova , it's much too early for the 'what Ricky wants to do to Hayden speech'"

"But he's just so beautiful." He replies , wiping away a faux tear "it's a shock to everyone that you haven't climbed that boy like a tree."

"Gross Ricky , you know I don't see him that way. He's my best friend."

"Yeah sure you don't , I've seen the way you look at him sweetheart especially at parties when he's with other girls."

"Yeah , it's called utter repulsion."

"Mhh , if you say so." He murmurs.

Screw you Rick Andrews and your constant ability to be right. There was no denying the fact that I was attracted to Hayden , the boy was beautiful with his jet black hair and deep chocolaty eyes. But we'd been best friends since I'd been born and there was no way he saw me as anything else other than his best friend , I was seriously stuck in the friend zone. The feelings had only started creeping up on me a few months ago but I'd pushed them to the back of my mind , god if anyone found out about my feelings for Hayden I'd be mortified.  My phone vibrated in my jacket pocket and I pulled it out. "Oo I bet that's lover boy now." Ricky whispered from the seat next to me. I rolled my eyes at him , but for the second time today he was right , Hayden had text me.

I almost growled at the screen as I typed out a reply

Yeah actually , Brittany's coming over soon

"Great" I murmured , there wasn't anything really wrong with the girl I just didn't like her because she was Hayden's most recent play thing. She was the one that alerted me to the fact that I had feelings for him when I saw them together at a party a few weeks ago , it ended up with me getting black out drunk and passing out in some guys living room not one of my best moments , I'd woken up with a killer hangover and the bitter taste of jealousy in my mouth. So now I just chose to push all non-friendly feelings I had towards Hayden to the back of my mind. I sent him one last before walking to my first lesson of the day.

The lead up to lunch was a killer , double math's first thing followed by chemistry it was a real miracle that I'd been able to stay awake through it all. Thank god for lunchI said to myself as I made my way to the table I sat at with my friends. "Hey girls."

"Hey Luce." Poppy and Kiara replied in union

"Have you heard about the party?" Kiara asked

At the mention of the word party my head spun around to face the one girl "No , who's throwing it?"

"Some guy that I've been seeing , his house is seriously amazing." Kiara replied "it's on Saturday , starts at 10. I thought we could all go together."

"Amazing , you know me never one to turn down a good party." I say as I take a sip of my water

"You can say that again girl , you're a certified party animal." Ricky laughs as I slides in next to me . As the rest of the table falls into a steady conversation on who's bringing what for the party and who's wearing what , I couldn't help but wonder if this was going to be the party where Hayden finally notices me ....

Saturday night

"Stay safe and have fun." Hayden says before he walks off into the crowded party

"Yes dad." I reply rolling my eyes but I doubt he even heard me , smoothing my dress out I make my way into the kitchen to meet up with the girls and Ricky.

"Hey girl." Shouts Ricky as he notices me walking through the door , I can barely hear him over the pounding base coming through the speakers in the living room. " I poured you a drink already."

I shoot him a smile and take a swig of the liquid in the plastic cup , Ricky's an animal when it comes to pouring drinks and is probably the reason for the legendary hangovers me and the rest of the girls have every Sunday.

"Look what I've got." Kiara shouted , she pulled a small plastic baggie from her purse that contained 3 pink pills. "The guy I'm seeing's brother gave them to me , apparently they give you a wicked buzz."

"What are they?" I ask eyeing the pills curiously

"Some form of ecstasy tablet I think?" she replied shrugging her shoulders "you down?"

"Sure why not." I say , holding out my hand as Kiara placed one In my palm. Placing the pill on my tongue I took another swig of my drink and swallowed and the other two girls did the same. "Party time." Poppy shouted as we all lifted our cups up and downed the contents.

2 hours later and whatever that pill was had hit me full force , the room was spinning slightly and I was more than certain there was someone trapped in the bathroom mirror. I had no idea where Poppy and Kiara had disappeared too but Ricky always made sure to stick with me during parties to make sure I stayed out of trouble. "You okay?" He asked

"Yeah , why wouldn't I be?"

"Girl your pupils look the size of saucers , do you even know what was in that thing ?"

"Not a clue." I giggle in response "enough talking , we need to go and dance." I dragged him to the make shift dance floor that was in the living room , what seemed like hundreds of people were crammed together dancing and grinding against each other. I caught hold of Ricky's hand and pulled him into the middle of the group of dancers.

We'd been dancing for what seemed like hours , most of the people had either moved onto another room or had sat down on the various chairs and sofas scattered about the room. Ricky was off in the corner getting up close and personal with a beautiful man that had taken his fancy so that left me alone dancing with a few strangers. "Hey beautiful." I heard a voice whisper in my ear , for a moment I thought it was Hayden but as I turned around I was slightly disappointed. "What's your name?" The boy asked

"Lucia." I replied

"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Dance with me?" The boy asked

"Sure." I shot the boy a smile and began swaying my hips to the beat of the music coming through the speakers. Don't get me wrong it's not like I wasn't happy to be dancing with someone because this boy was practically a Greek god , he just wasn't Hayden.

As we danced I could feel the boy's hands slip Lower and lower from where he'd first placed them on my waist. I'd usually never let a boy I didn't know touch me like that but I was seriously to buzzed to care. "Come home with me." The boy whispered in my ear as his hands dropped lower and lower.

"You've got 5 seconds to get your hands of her before I break your nose." I heard a voice growl next to me

I looked up and saw that the voice was coming from Hayden "what are you doing." I groaned

"Stay out of this Lucia , come on were leaving." He holds his hand out for me to join me but the boy I'd been dancing with had other ideas.

" I don't think so mate , this ones already agreed to come home with me. Better luck next time." He laughed , sliding his hand around my waist.

That's when all hell broke loose , the next thing I knew Hayden was launching himself at the boy and all I could do was stand there and watch as Hayden started laying punches into the other boy. "Hayden!" I screamed "stop , you're going to kill him for fuck sake!" Thankfully a few people who were sat around watching the two boys fight had decided to step in and pull the two boys a part. "Were leaving now." Hayden growls "you either walk yourself out or you're going over my shoulder."

"Jesus I'll walk , you need to calm the fuck down." I reply as we both make our way towards the front door. I pull my phone out from the clutch I'd been carrying and sent a group text out to let everyone know that I was leaving. We walked down the path towards the road in complete silence but as soon as we reach the main road Hayden explodes again.

"What the fuck do you think you were doing in there!?" He shouts

"Excuse me?"

"Don't play dumb with me Lucia. What do you think you were doing with that creep."

" I was having a good time , Hayden!" I shout "you've got no right to tell me what to do , you're not the boss of me."

"Were you going to go home with him?" He asked

"So what If I was?" I reply "you can't tell me who I can and can't sleep with." He groaned and rubbed his hands over his face and that's when I noticed it. "Okay Hayden , tell me this if you think you're so high and mighty how much coke have you sniffed tonight huh?" He didn't answer , "that's what I thought, the only reason you flew of the rails like that was because you're coked out of your skull and you lost your temper. Jesus Christ Hayden."

He grabbed my hand and entwined our fingers "look I'm sorry Luce. I didn't mean to lose my temper , I just care about you. I'm sorry."

"I forgive you. Can we go home now?" I hated arguing with him and I was way too tired to do this right now. "Of course." He replied , wrapping his arm around my shoulders as we made the short 10 minute walk back to our street , thankfully Hayden's dad wasn't home apparently he was away at a business conference so we ended up dragging all of the blankets from the bedrooms downstairs and crashing on the sofa and it didn't take us long to pass out , just as sleep was taking me over I couldn't help but think I'm in for one hell of a come down tomorrow.
