Chapter Twelve
Two years later.
"I'm home," I yelled out as I walked into the warm house, it wasn't long before I heard the pitter-patter of little feet coming my way.
"Daddy," Amara giggled as she ran up to me, wrapping her arms around my leg.
Smiling I closed the front door, Amara reached up to me, as I bent down picking her up with my free arm as my other one was carrying the bags from my trip to the store.
"Hi baby girl," I said, kissing her forehead, before walking into the kitchen, placing the bags onto the kitchen counter.
"Were you good today?" I asked as Amara clung to me.
"I was good," she said, pointing to one of her juice boxes that I had removed from one of the bags.
"Can I have one?" she asked, still pointing.
"Sure."
I placed Amara on one of the kitchen chairs that was next to the dining room table. She watched me as I opened the package of drinks, taking the straw out of the plastic wrapper before poking it into the box of juice before handing it to her.
"Thank you," she said smiling before she took a sip of her juice.
I stood there watching her, she looked so much like Baron, she was a carbon copy of him. I smiled as I continued putting things away, I couldn't get over how much my life has changed over the past two years.
After the funeral we had gone back to Alpha Trenton's pack, it was only a few days after we returned that I had gone completely feral. I honestly couldn't tell you anything that had happened in the month that I was feral, but if I went by what Jesse had told me, it wasn't good.
Jesse said that I had been acting weird the day that it happened, said I was really irritable, someone could just look at me and I was wanting to rip their heads off. Jesse had recommended that we go for a run, said maybe it would make me feel better, shortly after shifting was when Micah had taken hold of me, and he didn't want to let me go.
Jesse had noticed the change and alerted the warriors about it I had managed to run away before they could sedate me. They still to this day don't know where I had run off to but, I eventually came back.
Alpha Trenton and the Elders made the decision to put Micah and me down, but right before they could get to me, Micah suddenly let me have control again and we shifted back to my human form.
All I could remember was this intense pain, I've been shifting since I was twelve but the first shift I had experienced after a month was the worst pain I've ever experienced. After I had shifted back, they took me to the hospital, where I spent a week in isolation, just to make sure I wouldn't go berserk again.
Once I wasn't deemed a danger to others they let me go, the first thing I had done was go straight to Amara. I had felt so guilty for being away from her for so long, that guilt is what drove me to have a very uncomfortable conversation with Micah.
We had both agreed it was time for us to separate, we were no longer able to keep going as a pair. I meant what I said to Katie that day, Micah and I were not compatible with one another, he was never meant to be stuck with a human controlling him.
The next day I went to Calum, I told him that I wanted to have Micah removed from me, he tried to talk me out of it, but there was no changing my mind on this. Erik's wife Sara was the one who had removed Micah from me, I thought that I would feel empty in a way without him, but it was the complete opposite of that, I finally felt at peace.
I remember just sitting there, looking at Micah, it was the first time I had just looked at him, I mean I had seen what he looked like in reflections before, but not like this. I was actually able to touch him, I never imagined that he would be that soft. The Elders had marked Micah as dangerous and a risk to anyone else who tried to pair with him, so they placed him in a place that took in wolves like Micah.
I stepped down as Alpha, which meant Jesse would become Alpha, but that title didn't stick for long. Trenton had talked to Jesse and me about combining the two packs, even though I wasn't a werewolf anymore he still wanted my opinion on the matter. We both agreed that it was the best option, mainly because we barely had a pack left, Trenton made Jesse head over the Warriors, he saw the same talent that Baron and I had seen in him.
The Elders and several packs managed to solve the Rogue issues, apparently the Rogues were going around collecting strong wolves, so they could build their numbers more. Katie and I tried to make things work, but it just didn't work out between us. Once the mate pull was gone there really wasn't much between us anymore, we're still good friends though.
She just got married to one of her brother's best friends, currently expecting their first child. As for me, well I moved away from the pack, Alpha Trenton allowed me and Amara to move into one of the houses away from the pack house. With Amara being a werewolf I didn't want to move too far away from the pack, I didn't want her to grow up as a Rogue.
I started working at the pack hospital as a nurse, it was a nice change from the Beta work I had done in the past. I eventually met this really nice and beautiful woman who's name is Finley. We met at the hospital, she had also had her wolf removed, sadly her splitting from her wolf wasn't as mutual as Micah and I had been.
Her wolf had been dying, and if she didn't remove her wolf then she was going to die as well. I happened to be the nurse for her room, we eventually started talking, we became friends, then she moved in with Amara and me since she didn't have anywhere else to go, then we started dating.
"Hey baby," Finely said, walking into the kitchen, the first thing to catch my eyes was her swollen belly.
"Hi," I said, leaning over to quickly peck her lips, getting a very loud eww from our two-year-old daughter.
We pulled away from each other, laughing at Amara's scrunched-up face, as she mumbled something bout cooties. Finley walked, well more like waddled over to the fridge, putting the orange juice in the fridge.
"Where were you when I got back home?" I asked as I finished putting everything I bought away.
"I had to pee, again," Finley said, sounding annoyed.
Finley was now eight months pregnant with our son and our second child, so she practically lived in the bathroom now. I couldn't help but chuckle at my wife who was now glaring at me. This was another reason that we still lived with the pack, even though we no longer have our wolves, we could still carry the genes in us, which means there's a good chance our son will be a werewolf as well.
"We're here," I heard Jesse yell from the front door before, he and his mate walked into the kitchen, followed by their triplet boys.
"Uncle Casey," they screamed out before running at me.
"Look how big you guys are," I said hugging them up before they ran over to Finley.
Jesse found his mate a month after the funeral and let's just say they didn't waste any time in having kids, the triplets were only a few months younger than Amara was. Jesse's mate followed the boys, holding a hand to her now visible baby bump, Jesse walked over to me, we hugged each other before we started a conversation with each other.
I leaned against the counter, watching Finley and Amara go back and forth about what to eat for dinner, if you would have told me years ago that I would be happily married, with two kids, I honestly wouldn't have believed them.
I found happiness in the shittiest time of my life, I found my saving grace, and her name is Amara.
