Life of the palace was always quiet and peaceful. No children to run around, yet. No fights or loud disturbances. No nothing.

That was before TaeKook was a thing of course. Now it's kind of a chaotic mess.

Once, prince Taehyung tried to make breakfast in the royal kitchen, just because Jungkook said that he loves a man who can make him breakfast. The prince chased away the cook and tried to make pancake. But after his 3rd batch went astray, he called the cook again for help.

Needless to say, Jungkook was very impressed. Not with the pancakes but with the effort that prince was willing to put for him. He was even impressed enough to give the prince a reward and it was one of the best days of Taehyung's life.

And another time, Namjoon and Yoongi came to Taehyung's room to discuss something with the prince, only to find the two lovers going at it on the kitchen counter, in broad daylight.

Namjoon says he knocked and Taehyung says he didn't but then again, it wouldn't have been possible to hear anything with all the loud moaning that Jungkook was doing. Namjoon says that he had been scared for life with that image.

The royal guards now knows not to open any rooms that even has a slight chance of Jungkook working. They didn't know that before. Once, two of the guards went to the armoury to replace a gun, only to find Jungkook straddling the prince's lap and feeding him some cake the prince himself brought.

The guards were embarrassed enough to kill themselves even but the prince only told them to close the door when they go out. Now the guard knock and wait for a reply before opening any doors.

But the best one was when Jimin's father, the minister for foreign affairs, came to meet the prince for some work and found the prince and Jungkook making out in the office room. Lord Park knew the prince since he was a kid and luckily found this scene amusing.

He simply left without disturbing the couple but made the mistake of saying the story to his son. Jimin of course told it to the friends and Jungkook and Taehyung has never heard the end of it. It is Jimin's favourite story to tell when the group met.

Everyone loved the couple and thought their little mischief deeds adorable. Jungkook's father had been a commander of the army and everyone respected him very much. As his son, they liked Jungkook very much too.

Now that they don't have to hide their relationship, the prince and Jungkook are openly flirting, making everyone else either uwu so hard or cringe.

The lovers were very happy with their lives, they had everything they could wish for. But as it always happens, it was too good to be true.

Trouble came in a form of a letter from one of the most powerful countries. Namjoon didn't think it was something to be overly concerned about but It turned out to be a bigger issue than it was needed.

The letter was about a marriage proposal for prince Taehyung and a potential new alliance.

Namjoon showed the letter to Taehyung, just in passing. He was not gonna make his brother marry to form an alliance.

"You don't have to worry about it, Tae. I will send a reply saying that you already have a partner." Namjoon said as he gave a reassuring smile to his brother.

"Thanks hyung. Do we have to mention who it is? I don't want Kook to get more attention than he already have. We don't need another Kai situation." Taehyung said in a concerned voice.

"Nope, I don't think we have to. I'll check that with lord Park too."

"Ok hyung."

Taehyung didn't think about it after and didn't even had a chance to tell it to Jungkook. Everything was going well but it seemed that fate had another plan.

Jungkook was coming back from a duty when he heard two ministers talking. He was never the one to eavesdrop so he just quickly tried to walk pass them but then he heard his name.

"-Jungkook is a good man. But I feel bad about the opportunity."

"True. The prince will gain so much power if this alliance were to form."

"Not to mention that princess Jisoo is very beautiful and educated. She would have been a fine match for our prince."

"And she's the only child of the king Hyunbin. If this marriage happened, the entire kingdom will pass to prince Taehyung. He will be more powerful than king Namjoon even. Imagine the benefits it'll bring to the country."

"Yes, it would have been so much better for our country. No one will dare to harm the country or king Namjoon if prince Taehyung becomes the king of that country."

Jungkook could not hear anymore as the duo passed from his earshot.. Taehyung didn't even tell him about a marriage proposal but it's not that surprising either. He knows that prince Taehyung is perceived as the most sought after bachelor in the region.

Even though Taehyung never told him about the proposals, Jungkook knows that he must be receiving a lot. But when he heard those two ministers talk, it was as if things were put in to a different perspective.

Jungkook loves the prince very much and can't even imagine him life without him. But can he really hold him back when there's so much the prince can gain from a proposal like this.

Jungkook felt a tightness in his throat as he got up from the floor and walked towards the prince's chambers.

Taehyung was reviewing a paper when Jungkook walked in. He just looked up to glance at his boyfriend and then went back to his paper.

"Hey, where were you? Listen, I'm going be the chief guest at a business conference happening in Busan later this month. So I was thinking, maybe we could take few days off after that and go to your home. I would like to meet your parents, but only if that's ok with you." Taehyung talked without taking his eyes away from his work.

Taehyung waited for few seconds but there wasn't a reply so he looked up. "Kook, what do you think?"

Jungkook didn't answer and didn't even meet the prince's eyes. Taehyung narrowed his eyebrows in confusion and got up to walk towards his boyfriend.

Taehyung gently held Jungkook by his arm and lifted his face with his fingers so that the younger had to look at him.

"Hey, what's the matter?" Taehyung asked with a gentle smile. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable or anything by asking to come to your home. Don't worry about it ok."

Jungkook still didn't say anything but looked as if he's about cry even. Taehyung looked even more confused now.

"This is not about that, is it? Kook, what's wrong? Tell me what happened." Taehyung said in a worried tone this time.

"What is it?" Taehyung asked again in a soft voice, encouraging the younger  speak.

"I-I heard you got a marriage proposal for the daughter of king Hyunbin." Jungkook finally muttered.

"Yeah, this morning. What about it?"

"D-did you t-think about it?"

"What?! What do you mean? I don't need to think about it, lord Park will handle the reply."

"T-that's not what I meant. Did you think about a-accepting it?"

Taehyung looked at his boyfriend as if he had suddenly got three heads. However after few seconds, a smirk formed on his face.

"Ohh... I see what this is. Does my baby wants to play jealous and angry sex? Cause I'm totally up for it." Taehyung said with a teasing tone.

Jungkook however, didn't smile. His lips were shaking a bit and he kept avoiding the prince's gaze.

"N-no. I'm serious." Jungkook whispered, making Taehyung lose his playfulness immediately.

"Kook, this is not funny. What are you saying?"

Jungkook took a deep breath and spoke up.

"It could be very beneficial for you and the country. You will get to be so powerful. I think you s-should acce-"

"Enough!!! Are you crazy?!! Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you?!!" Taehyung looked little angry now.

Jungkook didn't answer and just hung his head. Taehyung took few seconds to calm down before he spoke up again.

"Look, don't worry about this ok. It's already handled by hyung. I'm sorry I didn't realize how you would feel about all this but don't worry ok. Everything is perfectly fine."

But rather than being assured, Jungkook looked even more upset.

"I will be f-fine, y-you know, after a while. I'll get over-"

Taehyung abruptly seized the younger roughly by his shoulders.

"Kook, listen to me very carefully cause I won't be repeating it again. I assure you everything is ok! Look, I have forgiven and forgotten a lot of things that you have said before. But if you tell me this, if you tell me to accept a marriage proposal from someone else, I will never forgive you. Never! So think very carefully what you are gonna say next, cause I swear to God, Kook, you will regret it!"

Jungkook wanted nothing more than to agree with his love and let him wrap his arms around him. He wanted to believe when the prince said everything is ok. But the conversation that he heard earlier keep replaying in his mind. With a one final effort, he let the words leave his mouth.

"I think you should accept this proposal."

There was a silence for about few seconds. Jungkook watched as a range of emotions passed through the prince's eyes. Shock, doubt, dismay, pain and finally anger.

People say you can see the moment someone's life leave their body, the eyes abruptly looses their light. One moment it's shining and the next, it's empty. That's the only way Jungkook could explain what he saw when he looked at the prince's eyes. They suddenly lost their light.

Taehyung looked at Jungkook with a strange emotion. And he gave a sad smile.

"Come."

That's all the prince said as he walked out of the room, with Jungkook closely following. Taehyung walked with a quick pace to where Jungkook soon recognised as the king's court room.

Taehyung pushed open the door with a force, making the king stop what he was doing in surprise. There were a lot of people in the court room today including Jimin and his father.

"Ohh... lord Park, I'm so glad you are here too. Hyung, did you already send the reply to king Hyunbin's letter?"

Namjoon looked like he's lost for words. "Uhh..." He looked at lord Park who shook his head. "No, not yet. Tae, what's this abo-"

"Excellent!! You can send a favourable response after all. I agree!! I. Fucking. Agree. To this marriage. Isn't it wonderful?!!"

The silence that followed was enough to even hear everyone's breathing. After few seconds of being shocked, Namjoon looked at Jungkook, who were standing behind the prince with a stony face. So did the most of the people present there.

But Taehyung didn't really notice any of that. He was so far gone in anger to do so.

"Let the country know, hyung. Their prince is getting married."

With that Taehyung turned on his heels and stormed out of the court room, Jungkook followed him dutifully.

Everyone else at the court room was left with open mouths.
