43 - Two Dragon's Dance.
A/N - so I'm just gonna say it, this chapter is stupid. 😔😔 It's a stupid idea that I had and I tried all day to make it presentable and this was the best I could come up with. I debated between to take few days off and try to make it better or just get it published today so that we can move past it and get back to business tomorrow. 😊😊
So please just read it and forget about it, there's only few point that needs to be taken from this part and those will be revealed in the next chapter. They are kind of important otherwise I would have just scrapped the entire thing.
So I really hope you enjoy it, 😊😊although I'm pretty sure you will not.

The palace is hosting a tournament to showcase the talents of the country's army and people. As one of the oldest traditions in the country, this tournament started about 150 years ago and occurs once in every 3 years.
The tournament categories varied such as traditional fight formats, martial arts formats and modern fighting methods. Ofcourse the weapons used in the fights are to be blunt as this is a friendly competition with minimum injuries.
It's an opportunity for the army, specially the guards, to show their skills and worth but also a chance for the common people to gain recognition. There were many good finds that were discovered in this tournament who are now holding high positions in the army.
The invited allied countries are also sending a team or two as per the tradition but they are mostly for performances on the final day, showcasing their own country specific or traditional fighting methods. These people needs to go through a strict security check before entering.
This is actually the first time Jungkook is participating in this as he was not in the country for the last one and he has enrolled himself for several categories. The prince is actually very proud of him, he can't wait for his boyfriend to show off his skills.
The preliminary rounds were conducted over the course of two weeks and the finals of the each category will be held in a grand arena, specially build for this. Commander Yoongi and high officials of the army are in charge of the security and they have been very busy with the preparation.
The king and the queen are to attend the finals as it's hosted in their names as per the tradition. They are to be seated in a special podium but it's quite in the open so commander Yoongi is actually very much stressed these days.
The people absolutely love the king and queen and would give their lives to protect them but you can't be sure about any enemy attacks. The security has to be very strict for both the royal couple and prince Taehyung.
And there is to be a ball in the night to celebrate the champions, for which most of the allied country leaders and families are invited. It's one of the main occasions to strengthen the friendship bonds between the allied countries.
Finaly the grand final day of the tournament arrived and the royal family was seated in their podium, along with close friends and high officials.
Yoongi, Hoseok and only few other guards were there as some were put on various duties but most were participating in the tournament. Jimin was also there with his family.
The first part of the show which was for the standard army and general public was a huge success. There were few very talented commoners whom the king handpicked and they will be contacted by commander Yoongi's office on a later day.
The next part was for the royal guards and foreign participants. Taehyung watched with a prideful smile as Jungkook aced in these fights. The younge guard was phenomenal. His moves were graceful and precise. None could match his skills.
Taehyung was smiling like a fool when Jin leaned closer to him and whispered.
"You might want to stop smiling for atleast few seconds, Tae. Or your cheeks will start to hurt. We all know you're very proud of him." Jin said in a teasing voice.
Taehyung laughed loudly at that.
"Ahhh.... I can't help it, hyung. Of course I'm so proud of him. And he learned half of those moves from me." Taehyung replied with a playful wink.
After a short break, it was time for the final rounds of the open entry categories. Anyone could enter these ones and the finals were chosen after many rounds in the previous weeks.
As normally the best fighters of the country were in the royal guard, half of the finalists were expected to be from the two guard units. The participants wore a half mask covering their lower face and opponents were picked randomly.
They all watched as the participants got ready for the final round of the traditional fighting methods. Taehyung doesn't know what exactly triggered it but he started to notice something strange about the other participants.
Suddenly the prince got up from his seat and ran towards the railing to look down at the arena. The participants were standing in a line first and then they faced their random opponent.
The next second, Hoseok was leaning towards the arena too. He was scanning the scene down with a confused look. He was frantically looking at all the fighters but whatever he saw, confused him even more.
"What the-??!!" Hoseok muttered in a confused way but before he could say anything, Taehyung started to run down the stairs towards the fighting area.
Hoseok started to run too but the prince yelled at him to stop.
"Stay with the king!!" Taehyung was gone out of sight just as the fight started.
Everyone watched in surprise as the participants, who were supposed to fight in pairs, all turned towards one person and started to attacked him.
Jungkook didn't even had time to think and he acted based on pure instinct. But there were too many and Jungkook was down on his back very quickly. He saw one of the men pull out a knife and started to walk towards him but before he could even got up, the man was knocked down.
Jungkook looked up in surprise to see the crown prince standing in front of him. The other guards and members of the army tried to come to the ground but Taehyung stopped them with a wave from his hand.
"What's the meaning of this?" The prince hissed in anger.
Namjoon was standing with a shocked face too. "What's going on? Yoongi?!"
Yoongi looked just as confused and Hoseok answered the king.
"Few from my team were supposed to be in the final but I can't find any of them there. I can't even recognise a single fighter there except Jungkook."
"What??!!" Namjoon thundered and even Jin looked afraid now.
Taehyung extended his hand to the fallen guard and Jungkook held it and got up from the ground. The crowd doesn't seem to have understood what was happening yet and the prince wanted it to be like that.
Taehyung counted the attackers, there were about 25. Taehyung leaned back a bit till he made contact with Jungkook's chest.
"Should we give them a show to remember?" Taehyung asked in a whisper and Jungkook chuckled a second later.
"I'd love to, your highness." Jungkook's voice was bright with giddiness.
Taehyung looked at the attackers and addressed them again.
"Are there any more of you? The odds are little too much in our favour with just you guys. I give you my word, it'll just be the two of us. No one else will interfere. " Taehyung said in a clear voice and he could see the slight confusion in the face of their attackers.
The one in the front, whom Taehyung assumed as the leader, gave a signal from his hand and about 20 more men came running from all over the stands.
The king and the others were even more terrified of the situation as now there were close to 50 men against the prince and the guard. But Taehyung only smiled brightly.
"Ohh... much better. Shall we start then."
When the words were out of Taehyung's mouth, Jungkook walked in front of him and kneeled on one knee in a kind of a strange position. At the same time, the prince stood behind him in a different but a very unique position.
At the podium, Yoongi gasped in shock. "No fucking way!"
Namjoon looked at him in surprise. Yoongi is not a one to curse much and he wouldn't definitely do that in public and in king's presence either.
"What's wrong?" Namjoon asked but for the first time, Yoongi seemed to be ignoring the king.
"Is that??" Hoseok asked from Yoongi and the commander nod his head.
"That's the two Dragon's dance." Yoongi said in an owed voice and Namjoon's eyes became wide with surprise at that.
All of them, including the public in the stands, watched in amazement as the prince and the guard started to fight.
The style was not something that anyone has seen in living memory and only a few had even heard about it, even fewer could recognise it.
The rest of the people watched as the both of them fought as if they were two bodies but one mind. Their movements were so precise and so unique, that the crowd could not even comprehend which hand belonged to whom.
The attackers were totally defenceless against the techniques of the fight and soon they fell down, one by one. And they didn't get back again either.
The fight lasted for about 5 minutes only and the prince and Jungkook were left standing in the middle of the ground, with back to back, fallen bodies all around them. And the prince smiled in the most beautiful way anyone has ever seen him smiling as he looked to the side and Jungkook gave him a radiant smile too.
"My guard."
"My prince."
Namjoon started to clap and soon the entire arena was thundering with the sounds of cheers and clapping.

Taehyung's and Jungkook's fight was the talk of the ball that night. Even the foreign monarchs were very surprised. Yoongi was asked to explain what the two Dragon's dance was for the benefit of the people who didn't know.
"Two Dragon's dance is an ancient martial arts method which is said to be undefendable, if it was executed properly. It is said to be formed over 700 years ago and the last time anyone had seen it was 150 years ago, in the time of the great king, Sunghoon."
"His majesty and the commander of the royal guard had been the two pair that successfully mastered the art last and they were unstoppable in battle. For two people to master this technique, they need to have complete trust over eachother."
"The one keeling in the front at the beginning, is called the protector, who is ready to sacrifice his life, body and soul in order to protect the one behind. And the one in behind, called the master, will fight without any doubt or hesitation regarding his own safety, because he trusts that his companion will not let him get hurt."
"Many had tried to master this technique over the years but was not successful. Because as it is normal for human nature, we don't have that kind of trust in another person. In the split second of a life and death battle, you instinctively turn to protect yourself. It's almost impossible to overcome this impulse."
"That's why it's called a Dragon's dance. Cause if two Dragons formed an alliance to protect eachother, they will be unstoppable. Just as we saw very clearly today. The fight stopped in a little time because there were only about 50 opponents. Even if there were a thousand, the prince and Jungkook will emerge victorious."
Everyone was left with open mouths at this explanation. They looked at the prince, who were talking with a foreign prince, and Jungkook who had been standing little further to him. They couldn't believe that these two young men had managed to master such a technique that required to have that much of trust in each other.
But for the few people who knew what they meant to eachother, could easily believe that. Their hearts and souls do have that kind of a bond.
But there's a little part that Yoongi left out to say. He has been studying the technique himself so he was able to see the difference in it, an upgrade from what was written.
One was supposed to be the protector and the other was the protected. But with the prince and Jungkook, both were protecting each other, equally. The prince was prepared to lose everything, in order to protect the guard. Exactly as the guard will do to protect his prince.
