Denial

Whispers and gossips circulating thought the Werewolf empire sang the warrior song of the rogue princess, her valour, courage and extreme loyalty were praiseworthy just as much as was her radiance in all its glory.

The mortal realm rejoiced when their dead banished prince returned and so did their hope of the most compassionate and honoured ruler who would govern them with an iron fist.

But when the kingdom was bustling, drowned in happiness and nothing but gratitude towards her, Medusa had been exceptionally silent, in farthest corner of the old werewolf castle.

The library was ancient with sacred text, myths, novels and subjective books covering it's ailes. The yellow pages told the tale of the history of wars and Kings that the books have encountered and still remain alive while they became deceased.

Medusa sat beside the huge French windows watching the sun settling as the sky became a canvas of blue splotches tinted with red and honey gold and faint twinkling stars sprinkled across the sky.

The thoughts going inside her brain forced her to think and that was all she did for past four days without speaking, just listening and observing.

Medusa was ecstatic when she woke up in the arms of Rhysand the next day of the war, in the same rocky cave that her heart had came to realise that she had lost him.

Her happiness was boundless and her face glowed with the glimmers of mirth in her heart. Her presence became a ray of sunshine lightning the whole atmosphere with hope and love.

Though she had lost her powers and became completely humane, she still rejoiced in the fact the the innocent people she had turned stone had come to life again now that no force was making them stay like it forever.

She felt light as if a huge boulder had been lifted off from her shoulders...but that was days ago.

In the world where time is continuous, joy and sorrow the counterpart of one another nothing remained static.

The wooden mahogany doors of the library squeaked as Rhysand entered, the aroma which used to attract the attention of the rouge princess to give all her attention to him still worked but she didn't bothered greeting him still staring out with a blank face.

The echos of boot clattering the ground stopped the same second as his movements when he came beside her.

"φεγγάρι" His fingers gently held her chin making her face turn towards himself.

(Moon)

"Rhysand" She smiled but it came out more forced than anything, the light didn't reached her eyes making him frown. Rhysand thought she was angry at him for not telling her that Lucien was his brother but she denied the whole concept earlier.

"Έπρεπε να γίνει, για να προσποιούμαστε ότι δεν ήταν ο αδερφός σου όταν συναντηθήκαμε για πρώτη φορά.

δεν υπήρχαν περιστάσεις όπου θα μπορούσατε να μου πείτε για αυτόν και δεν θα τον κηρύξω προδότη και θα σας εμπιστευτώ."

(It had to be done, to pretend he wasn't your brother when we first met.

There weren't any circumstances where you could tell me about him and i would not declare him a traitor and can trust you again.)

She wasn't sad....nor she was happy.

She has been the same since past these days, sharp and precise at answers with only one word when necessary but avoiding any talks with anyone when she could.

Celeste tried talking to her only to be met with an emotionless response and she wasn't even trying to know Lucien's side, it seemed like she just didn't cared anymore.

"Medusa, how are you feeling love?

"Good" Rhysand sighed his fingers trembling with uncertainty and the apprehension of something inauspicious.

"Babygirl talk to me. Is this about...about me marking you? Medi show your anger, shout at me...say something princess."

Rhysand tone took a desperate note when he clutched her hands tightly, trying to grasp where he went wrong. Why was she so deep in her shell that she had even locked him out.

"I..I am not mad for having your mark, I have always wanted it Rhysand. Always dreamt of having your claim on me. I asked you countless times myself. What you did was what I would have done as well, you saved my life and I am grateful."

Her voice was quite raspy from not speaking but he wasn't convinced. He pulled her closer holding her near to his chest breathing against her skin.

"Then what is it baby? please Medi...don't shut me out princess. Tell me-"

The knock on the door made him halt in his words.

"You may enter." Medusa commanded creating a little space between herself and Rhysand, making pain flare into his chest.

He could feel the bond stirring and her emotions totally going hazy, everything so jumbled and confused, he tried figuring out before a barrier was placed in the mindlink.

His throat constricted. What had he done so wrong?
********************************

The temple of Moon goddess Persephone was in the heart of the Werewolf capital.

Thick veiny pumpkin climbers were scattered throughout the main grounds of the temple with various wild flowers and weeds growing.

In the core of the temple there was a statute of the goddess carved in marble and silver.

It was said that when the goddess blessed a person the silver would stop working against the werewolf and they wouldn't burn from it's toxicity

The Queen of hell Persephone looked every ounce of regal she was in the stone carved sculpture. Her eyes closed as she held her palm out with a crystal cut, glimmering stone- lives of Werewolves and mortals all condensed into the green emerald.

Once considered the most holy pilgrimage site for werewolves was now left abandoned due to an even that took place decades ago.

The oath taking ceremony in the temple of moon goddess Persephone was considered the most auspicious and sacred ritual the Alpha King had to follow with his Queen.

Once the oath is complete the powers and blessings of the innumerable Alphas which had existed throughout the history and the gods who were watching from heavens were bestowed upon the royal couple who were bound by an unbreakable bond.

Once King Valium and his chosen mate Deliah had come to the temple to offer their prayers only for the couple to suffer severe burns from touching the goddess' statue.

After that the temple was forcefully closed by the enraged couple who refused to believe that such a deity existed.

Years passed

Now Rhysand held the hand of his mate as her long white cloak trailed down the green grass in contrast to his midnight suit.

Her light gold gown flowing gracefully with the wind, leading to the temple grounds with the most prominent people following closely behind.

Zion, Celeste, Lucien and Elder Clesmond trailed behind the couple.

The eyes of the priest watered on seeing his deity again getting the respect when the humongous dusty iron gates of the temple were opened by the guards who stood beside the doors paving way for the royal couple to enter.

A lump formed in Medusa's throat as she watched the person who had always protected her now just before her eyes... her mother.

Could she lie to her, stand in her mother Persephone's presence and deceive her. Did Rhysand deserved her like this? So confused, broken and mentally unstable.

She wasn't happy....

"Alpha Prince Rhysand and Rogue Princess Medusa by the grace of the mother, do you accept the responsibility of the wereworld on your abled shoulders?

Do you promise to love the common like your own, be merciful like your soul and forgive with justice and kindness flowing through your veins?" The priest asked.

" I accept the duties with all my heart." Rhysand squeezed the hand of his mate softly smiling down at her but instantly frowned when he saw tears like dew drops trailing her cheek.

"I don't.... I can't. I don't forgive any of you, I hate you."
