Laying in bed wide awake Sia thinks of the event, her and Sahirs engagement. Her feet are aching due to the heel she wore and gazing at the large full moon Sia thinks of fiancé. She still can't believer that he proposed to her, even though it might not have meant anything for him, for her that moment will give her strength to live a lifetime with him. She takes a glance at her diamond ring adorning her ring finger.
She sits down on her bed and scrolls through her facebook feed, pictures flooding of her and Sahir makes her bite her smiling lips. Blushing and with a tingling feeling she looks at a picture where he is proposing to her, with they being lost in each other's eyes.
This bliss is only temporary Sia, her minds tells her and she sighs. Her mobile vibrates leaving her startled, the call is from non other than her own personal Shrek. Debating she picks up the phone with a nervous heart.
"Hello?" She whispers twirling a strand of hair in her finger.
"Fiona haven't fallen asleep I see." Sahir says sitting down on his chaise lounge, sipping from a coffee.
Sia smiles. "How come that Shrek hasn't fallen asleep yet?" She questions back.
"Can't afford to sleep, need to work a bit but someone is occupying my mind." He honestly enlightens which makes Sia blush.
"Wow, work even one day before your own wedding. That's nice, I guess." She says teasingly while staring at her diamond ring.
Sahir looks down on his ring too. "That's so I can spend some time with the bride after the wedding." He enlightens with a smirk.
Sia finds Sahirs this side rather sweet but on the other hand she isn't sure about how to react, this is just a deal for him. They made a pact to act friendly and as a couple till the wedding ends.
The next day Sia is awaken by everyone pulling her. Everyone beside her is hysteric and beyond her understanding. She rolls her eyes at her mothers lectures. "A bride to be should have excitement in her eyes and be all nervous! Why are you behaving like you get married everyday?" Her mother scolds Sia while picking up her pile of clothe from the floor.
"Mom seriously? You're going to scold me today too? Like on my wedding day?" Sia rolls her eyes and her sister Soumya hugs her from the side sitting on Sias bed with her.
"I'll miss you." Soumya states sighing.
"No you won't? You understand that I'll be here the most of the time or you'll be at." Sia takes a pause as she doesn't know how to refer to Sahirs home.
"Or what?" Her sister says wiggling her eyebrows.
Sia hits her on the head. "Or you'll be at Khan residence." She shrugs with a shy smile.
Sagar her brother comes in to her room and takes a look at the three smiling ladies. "What is wrong with you guys? Why haven't you started to get ready?" He questions baffled.
They all grimaces. "Sagar, it is only ten in the morning, there is plenty of other things to arrange before decking up." His mother says. "And why are you still here? You were supposed to leave for the banquette hall an hour ago to check if the work has started and drop of the necessary." Mrs. Malik scolds.
Sagar crosses his arm and leans on the door frame. "Yeah I am leaving but I needed to tell you to get ready as you guys need the whole day to even look decent." He insults with a smirk but is quick to add. "Expect you mom you're a natural beauty, that's where I got my good looks from." He pampers his mom with his big brown eyes shining with mischievous and goes to hug her. "Don't know where these two monkeys came from though." He says with a smirk which makes his sisters glare at him while their mother laughs.
Soumya and Sia sulks. "Please get glasses or a mirror." Sia shrugs annoyed at his words and has no energy to fight.
"Someone's mad." He says and walks over to her with a smile. "I am sorry kiddo, but today is the last time I can do this whenever I feel like." Sagar rest his arm around Sias shoulder and starts to rub her head with his knuckles.
"Stop it!" Sia struggle and Sagar being stronger with more muscles starts to chuckle at her state. "You're so mean! Get off me!" Sia fights furiously and Sagar starts to tickle her instead making Sia almost fall off her bed laughing so hard. "Stop it." She cries being really ticklish.
Soumya flews from there as she doesn't want to be the next victim knowing her brothers humor. "Sagar! Let go of her!" Mrs Malik slaps her sons back and Sagar gets away from Sia.
Sia relaxes on her bed and savors the oxygen she is now inhaling freely. "You're so mean!" She mutters and Sagar gives her a peek on the forehead before walking away.
"I know kiddo, sorry. Need this valuable memories." He says and walks away tears pricking his eyelids, it is her last day living permanently here.
A make up artist and hairdresser her mother has appointed shows up after breakfast. To Sias annoyance she is made ready hundredth hours before the wedding. When seeing the stone studded jewelries, the maroon colored wedding dress, a lehenga to be exact, and the Cinderella shoes Sia falls in love with her outfit.
She finds a envelope with a red card in it.
'To my dear to be bride, I know that our wedding is happening in a rush and due to all the wrong reasons but I want you to feel like the princess every girl deserves to feel on their big day. So your prince have chosen you the most perfect bridal outfit.
My eyes will long for you because I know you will look every bit Royal today, I mean after all who's choice is it?
Yours only
Shrek'
Sia giggles at his weird message. Sahir is one of a kind bipolar mess.
When finally the artist decides that Sia is done she takes a glance of herself in the mirror. Her eyes shines brightly seeing herself, she is feeling pretty and looking every bit Royal. Standing up she twirls around in front of the mirror, her maroon lehenga flying and falling back to hug every curve of her. The dupatta, scarf, is neatly secured on her head and a few strands of curled hair is framing her features.
A wedding bouquet with red roses with pearls is placed in her hand. Smiling widely she thanks her artist. Her parents gets teary eyed seeing their daughter all grown up and decked up as a bride. She hugs them and her dad places a miss upon her head.
Being ready long before she strolls around in the living room waiting for the time to fly. It is just an hour left for the limousine to get them and her family is still not ready.
The door bell throws Sia off guard, it is too early for anyone to visit. Being the only one downstairs she goes to open the door.
A man in black suit appears in front of her with a blue shirt underneath. He seem awfully familiar. "Can I help you?" Sia questions alert.
The actually handsome man with stubble adoring his features smiles towards her. "First of all wow! You look stunning." He states which baffles Sia.
She blinks her eyes a few times quite rapidly at the stranger and forces a polite smile. "Thanks." She mumbles rather awkwardly.
The man with beautiful brown eyes forwards his hand towards her. "Hey, Sameer Jay. Sia Malik I guess." Sias mouth hangs open and she stares at the man in front of her.
"Sameer Jay? Like Sameer Jay?" She questions and takes his hand to shake.
He chuckles amused. "Yeah, I am sorry but I have been abroad. Just got back home and heard about the court case." Sia nods understandingly. "I want to reopen it again as I want Sahir behind bars if it is he behind it." He says with a serious tone.
Sia shakes her head. "No, it wasn't him." She retorts interrupting him. "It was all a misunderstanding." She assures him.
Sameer observes Sia with half a smile. "Obviously you will say that as you are getting married to him. I don't even understand how you ended up with him." Sia smiles amused at that as even she doesn't know how she ended up with him. "A beautiful girl like you should end up with a handsome boy like me." He flirts shamelessly which Sia can't help but laugh at.
Composing herself she look at Sameer who smiles confidently. "You do realize that you're flirting with a girl who is getting married?" She questions with amusement.
"The key word is getting. So you're not married yet! And seriously I really want to reopen the case with you. You won't be alone this time and I'll support you against the media." He promises and Sia looks at him perplexed.
Even if she unsure about her marriage to Sahir, she knows for sure that he isn't behind the devastation of Sameers office.
Sia opens her mouth to defend Sahir when someone clears their throat behind Sameer. Both of them look over his shoulder and sees no other than Sahir in a matching maroon Sherwani, obvious to them Sahir has been listening to some of their conversation and he is not happy. Sahirs eyes are throwing daggers at Sameer.
With clenched jaw he strolls over to a beautiful Sia and places his arm around her shoulders. Sia sighs, thinking not again. This man do have a problem, he is bipolar. To her surprise he even kisses her forehead. "Hi wifey, you're looking angelic." He says and Sia forces a smile.
Sahir is actually looking charming. "Thanks, you're looking great you too." She compliments back and let him claim her in front of Sameer.
Sameer shakes his head and looks up to Sia, ignoring Sahir. "It was a pleasure meeting you Sia and please reconsider my offer." He hands her over his personal card and Sia takes it with a nod.
Sia can literally hear Sahirs teeth crackle. "Sahir." She whispers while his eyes follows Sameers while the latter drives off. "You can't be acting all possessive just because someone talks to me." Sia sighs and Sahir turns his pitch black eyes towards her, making a shiver run down her spine as he is beyond intimidating right now.
He retreats his arm from her shoulders and stares into her eyes trying to calm himself down. "You think I acted that way as I am possessive of you?" He says taking a step towards her and she refuse to even flinch from her spot surprising Sahir. "The only reason that I got mad and had to show that brat that you are mine is because you're such a worthless person." Those words makes Sias heart clench and eyes widen. "How could you fall so low Sia? My reputation actually mean nothing to you?" What he really want to question is if he doesn't mean anything her?
Sia interrupts him now perplexed. "What the heck are you talking about?" She questions irritated.
Sahir smiles bitterly. "Well first of all you didn't mind him telling you to reopen the case with his support, instead you stand there thinking about it!" He booms with clenched fists. "Secondly you let him shamelessly flirt with you and I am sure if given the chance you wouldn't even mind to run away with him." Sahirs sentence doesn't even end when a loud impact of Sias slap makes his head fling to the left.
Sia stands there with tears burning her eyes, making her vision go blur while she keeps her gaze on Sahir. Sahir on the other hand stares at the ground with tight jaws and breathes heavily. "Enough Sahir." Sia whispers. "You have lost your mind."
Sahir finally looks up to her. "Well, who wouldn't having a gold digging girl like you around?" Sia raises her hand to throw another slap but Sahir catches her wrist this time. "Don't you dare." He challenges her while staring into her eyes.
"Gold digging? Do I have to remind you that the marriage is your idea?" Sia questions with a rasp voice.
Noticing her tears Sahir lets go of her hand and walks backwards to his car. Turning around he takes out a bag from his car and leaves it on the ground. Then he just drives off leaving Sia there with a heartache.
She picks up the bag and heads back inside with her heart drumming heavily in pain. She leaves the bag at the door and runs up to her room with tears pouring down. Sias mother sees her and runs after her worriedly, Sia throws herself on the bed.
"What happened Sia? Sia my dear what happened? Tell me Sia!" Mrs Malik makes Sia sits up straight and hugs her.
Sia completely breaks down in her mothers arms, sobbing hard. "Mom." she sobs. "I don't want to get married." She cries making Mrs Malik startled.
Without giving it a second thought Sia starts to blurt out the truth to her mother. She doesn't care about the outcome for now and tells her how Sahir blackmailed her into the marriage.
"Mom, please. Save me." Sia can't control her emotions anymore. "I can't marry a man that I don't love." She says with a stinging heartache. "Or a man who doesn't love me." She whispers as more warm tears roll down her cheeks as she knows her fairytale dreams will soon be crushed.
"Sia let me talk to your father, he will surely get you out of this mess." Sia looks at her mother horrified.
"No, no mom! Promise me you won't tell anyone." She cries. "Please mom promise me!" Sias mother promises while Sia continues to cry.
Mrs. Malik can feel Sias pain which stings in her soft heart. Cupping Sias face and putting her forehead to hers both mother daughter cries. Cries till their heartache reduces. Cries till they can't cry more.
Sias mother breaks the silence between them. "I am sorry Sia for not being able to be your shield." Sia wraps her arms around her mother again and hugs her tightly. Mrs Malik tries to comfort her with soothing strokes on her back. "You should have told me earlier. You just made me helpless Sia and it is actually too late to backdown now. I am sure he will take care of you and love will blossom with time." Her mother cries. "Your fate cannot be cruel." She whispers.
"Mom, don't ever disclose this to Dad or Sagar. This is a secret between us." Sia says wiping away her mothers tears and her own. "I am sorry for breaking down like this. I didn't intend to appear this weak. It is just that everything happening so soon, I am just too emotional right now. Trust me, I am fine and will be. I promise." Sia smiles tiredly.
Her mother forces out a smile. "Yes you will be more than fine. You're my child, you'll have to be fine and you'll have all my prayers with you." She kisses Sia on the forehead.
Sia nods. "Exactly." A small chuckle leaves from her due to the bizarre situation.
Mrs. Malik caressed Sias hair. "I love you my child and don't ever forget that this is your home. That fact will never change and that's why I have packed your keys in your bag already."
Sia kisses her mothers hands. "I never intended to leave them behind. I love you mom and thanks for just being the awesome mother you are!"
The thing is that in life it is quite rear to find a happily ever after and even a happy beginning. That's even rarer when having two complete opposite personalities and egos clashing, with no consideration for communication or compromise a disaster is bound to occur. The happiness Sia and Sahir felt yesterday is all gone, but the memories of those moments are etched on their minds. Will this relationship ever work?
Sahir is driving around the town in full speed with Sia and Sameers conversation replaying in his mind while Sia is distraught over how he could so easily classify her as a characterless person.
Redoing her make up she leaves with her family to the wedding hall with a stone in her chest replacing her heart. Sia was looking beautiful, no doubt, but the natural glow on a brides face was missing.
Sahir on the other hand came late to his own wedding. Standing together, smiling together, dancing together, posing together for the guests, media and cameras, their evening ended with them being bound to each other in holy matrimony.
Sahirs wedding speech to Sia replayed in her mind the whole car ride.
Sia Malik, I promise to love and care for you. I promise to always be there for you. I'll work hard so that I can someday be worthy of your love. With you I will try to always be honest, kind, forgiving and most importantly patient. I promise to always be true and loyal. I promise to forever be yours.
She let her gaze wander at a rigid Sahir. They're the only one in the car with him driving.
He should be in the film industry, Sia thinks for herself. She hates the fact that he has an effect on her. While dancing his every touch on her skin was noticed by her. While posing for the cameras she felt safe beside him, in his arms. His cologne was one she could notice from miles away. She wants to cut out every feeling and turmoil he initiates in her by his mere presence.
What she doesn't know is that she has a equally strong impact on Sahirs senses. However hard he tried to not look at her, he couldn't control himself from taking glances at her. His hands didn't want to leave her for a second, as if someone would break her free from him if he let go of her.
Before departing from her family she cried hugging each one of them tightly, and so did they. Sahir promised her parents that he would take care of Sia and would not let her miss home, which Sia found hilarious. Sahir on the other hand felt a stinging pain in his heart seeing them cry, seeing Sias tears. He already knew he was the reason for most of her tears but he promised to try to keep her happy and as he is a man of his words, he will try.
Sahir and Sia walks in to Khan residence side by side. This is it, their new journey starts. Maybe not a happily beginning but definitely a new beginning. Both etches a plastic smile on their lips. The couple gets greeted by Sahirs family and relatives. Sia doesn't know any of them beside his immediate family and feels a bit self conscious.
The night continues with a whole lot of sweets, pampering and traditional wedding ritual games. For example one where the bride and groom will find a ring in a decorated bowl filled with milk, the one who gets the ring first is said to be the dominant in the relationship. Guess who got it first? Well, technically Sahir did but he pushed the ring into Sias finger making it look like she found it. Why? Unknown to them both.
After a lot of games and actually fun they end up in their bedroom. They both stare at the red roses and white lilacs decorated bed rather blankly. This is going to be a very interesting and romantic wedding night, both of them thinks. Note the sarcasm.
