It has been two weeks with Rick's mother but there is no development at all in our relationship, we are still there from where we started, just strangers. It looks like she has completely closed off herself around me. The motive of this trip was failing miserably. Meanwhile, I am missing my family like crazy especially Scarlet, nevertheless how far she was, at least we were in touch. I am wondering how she has taken the information about my sudden plan and that to on email. Anyways, to impress Mrs. Adam I participated in all activities of the church, initially, it was for her but slowly I started enjoying it, it gave an immense joy for serving God.

A mere thought of Rick and our last encounter was enough to accelerate my heartbeats, I was sad he left me without saying goodbye. How could he go like this? This made me realized how painful it was for mom, I felt her pain after stepping in her shoes. It shattered you when you are being avoided by someone who is your whole world.

"Hey, Jen. Get ready, we will be going out today." Daniel announced casually. His arrogant ways to get to my nerves, yet we started bonding somehow. Daniel has always charmed me with his flirtatious and jovial nature, earlier he used to avoid me like a plague. Things started warming up between us after our heart-to-heart conversation near a lake. I remembered the day I was sitting near the lake forlornly and as usual, this guy graced me with his presence from nowhere.

"Why long face, sweetheart" his sudden voice made me jump at my place.

"On the name of sweet God, don't ever scare me like this." I breathlessly squealed at him. He flashed me his cute innocent smile with amusement.

"Then on the name of sweet God, don't stay this long away from home." He mockingly rolled his eyes on me.

"I like it here, it's peaceful." I turned my gaze towards the lake, mesmerizing the beauty of nature.

"C'mon, this whole town is nothing but a peaceful place. Then why you needed to be here, three miles away from home. If anything happens to you, Rick will platter my head on a plate to serve the wild animals." He is dramatically exaggerating.

"Nothing is going to happen with me, Mister..." I squinted my eyes on him.

"As if you know what destiny has planned for you." He talked to himself distantly when he realized I heard him, he raised his brow and smiled.

"Got scared, huh?" he asked. Like always he was not making any sense to me.

"Let's go home, Aunt will be waiting for you." He said.

"She doesn't even acknowledge my presence then how would she knows about my absence" I sadly muttered.

"This is not true Jen..she is different. She has corroded the iron shell around her heart after the death of her husband." The first time I heard something about Rick's dad, I didn't know anything about his father.

"What happened to him?" I asked curiously.

He straightens himself avoiding my eyes "it's getting dark, let's go."

"I asked you something?" I frowned at him.

"It's not my place to tell" he shortly replied.

He started walking without waiting for my response, and I stupidly followed him. "But Rick never shares anything about his father. In the span of a year, he hardly talked about his personal life. He is always been mysterious when it comes to his life" I freely opened up to Daniel about my feelings.

"Girls adore the handsome and mysterious guy, isn't it?" This made me smile, yes maybe he was right.

"I'm serious here." I eyed him angrily.

"So, am I. look at your face, getting red like beetroot thinking about him. He is such a lucky bastard."I scowled at him, how dare he, I couldn't approve of him using disrespectful words for my Rick.

"Don't curse him, give little respect to your friend." he shrugged my comment by giving me are you serious look.

"Oh, I'm wounded." He touched his heart to give me his hurtful look.

"You are funny, Danny boy." I teasingly rolled my tongue to irritate him.

"Excuse me, what? Don't call me that, it's quite annoying" he pouted like a child.

"Danny boy don't you like your name, ha? I love this name, Danny.." I enjoyed his annoyed look.

"Jen, I'm serious. Call me, Daniel." He said it hastily.

"No ways. I will call you Danny, Danny, Danny boy" he rubbed his temple with his finger points, pretending an heavy headache. Serves you right, idiot.

Since that day I started teasing him at every given chance, annoying Daniel was my favorite pastime.

"Are you even listening woman?" he jolted me up from my thought and brought me to the present.

"First don't order me and second where are we going?" I quizzically looked over him.

"I need to buy some groceries from town. If you will behave then I might reward you, or maybe I will take you to the club." He played with his sunglasses with the big smirk on his face. As he knew this has made me happy and I jumped into his arms, squeezing his shoulder tight thanking him several times.

While shopping, I found a telephone booth and the idea of contacting Scarlet stirred up my excitement then I remembered I didn't carry along my purse, stupid.

"Hey, I need some money." I shamelessly asked Daniel.

"Ask me politely, but why you need money?" He questioned me with his serious face.

"I want to talk to Scarlet. It's been two weeks since I heard from her. Please give me money, I forgot to carry my purse." I requested him.

"Later, I still need to buy few things otherwise the shops would be closed, this is a small town." He pulled me to his car.

"Please, I won't take long." My request went to his deaf ears.

We headed to other stores for shopping unnecessary things​, he flirted with a pretty cashier. For this, he has all the time of the world, jerk. I cursed him mentally. He winked at me giving his devilish smile.

"Stop torturing and killing me in your head." I gave him "Go-to the hell" sort of stare.

"How I wish that I could kill you with my bare hands but you are lucky as you are Rick's friend" I furiously replied looking straight into his eyes.

"Woah, I am scared, sweetheart." He made faces to mock me.

"Stop calling me that, you have no right to address me that way." I angrily snapped at him. I was still not over with his earlier rude behavior, he refused to pay me.

"Has anybody told you ever, how beautiful you look when you're spiteful than being a drooling puppy around Rick." His eyes got darken for the moment then again his mischievousness​ appeared on his face.

"If I would be you I will think twice about consequences before​ flirting with Rick's girlfriend." I threaten him.

"You really think too highly of him, I mean you literally worship him." he was not sounding happy.

"That's love, Danny boy." I winked at him.

He pouted teasingly but there was rigid seriousness on his face "Love is blind, sweetheart. It's like a slow poison which kills you slowly without your knowledge, at the end you will be alone and hurt." He said it hesitantly, his eyes showing remorse but for what?

"What do you mean, Danny" I couldn't stop myself to ask.

"Nothing, you are a naive girl. You don't deserve any harm but.." he stopped before completing, he turned his gaze from me.

"But, what? Is something wrong, oh God, hope Rick is fine" I shivered even thinking about any harm to Rick

"I will make you suffer, sweetheart." He started laughing but it didn't reach his eyes. "Look at your face, I played you very well."

I didn't have any word to reply to him, I was shocked and agitated too, he grabbed my hand and said "it looks like you behave today, I will keep my words by taking you to the club. Let's enjoy!" I have a feeling he was hiding something​ from me but what?

As planned I took Jen to a Night Club, this place surrounded by a wild crowd. Once we reached there she went to the lady's restroom for freshening up and that was my chance to have a word with Rick on our plan.

"Hey, we reached here," I informed him.

"Great! Be careful." He said.

I tensed up hearing those words, honestly, I was not ready for our next move. My conscience is not agreed with it.

"Are you sure we have to do this?" I wanted him to change his plan, I am looking for reasons to deny him.

"What do you mean?" He raised his voice.

"Dude, she is innocent. She has no part in our downfall, I think we have to rethink about this." I tried to convince him.

"If you don't want to do it, you can quit, I can do it. But I won't tolerate if your little infatuation ruins our hard work." He said very coldly.

"Don't be stupid, I don't have any feelings​ for her. It just..., she really loves you, bro." I drew a small breath and continued "And I am sure you don't want me to prove my loyalties to you, yeah?"

"I trust you on my life Daniel, don't distract yourself with unwanted emotions. Milano's doesn't deserve even a bit of it." His hatred visible in his sound and I knew he was right, the heartless David Milano deserves this.

"Fine, she will be here any time, I will call you once I accomplish my task." I disconnected the call and hid the phone in my bag. I ordered two glasses of wine for us then cautiously spiked her drink with heavy drugs with swelled heart. This will start working slowly, she will not remember anything the next morning.

"It clumsy here." She announced her presence with her chattered and made a disgusting face.

"What do you expect here, princess. Oh right, it is not surrounded by your elite people. My apology.." I retorted a little harshly, it was my guilt that made me angry, she flinched, I felt bad for my dramatic outburst on her. I tried to calm myself and offered her spewed drink.

"Have your drink." I offered her with a heavy heart.

She turned my offer and frowningly said "Thanks, but no thanks."

I threw my death glare at her, she has to drink this "Jen, don't make me repeat myself." I calmly ask her again.

"Even I hate to repeat myself, I don't want it, Daniel." She mocked me again, I would have laughed at her pouty face if I was not in such a foul mood.

"Ok, as you wish. I thought you were happy with the idea of clubbing but again your choice." I played with her head. If I have learned anything about Jen is that she hates it when someone avoids her. Secretly I looked at her from the corner of my eyes, she glared at me and turned her gaze towards dancing people. Once I finished my drink, I touched her glass to take it but she grabbed her glass and gulped it in one breath. I smiled at her, how fool she is? but still cute..Hello lovelies!!
