01: A new start

Everything happened in a blur. Noone saw it coming. One minute, everyone was enjoying the meteor showers in the dark sky filled with the moon and stars. And the next, the blue spikes ray of blue light in the dark fascinated everyone and brought a disaster that ruined the world.

Initially, there were reports of people becoming ill. Subsequently, it became apparent that a pandemic had occurred, and before long, catastrophe had struck the world.

Ivor still remembered how he was sitting on the floor of his rundown apartment buried his nose in a history book about who knows what emperor of which dynasty and listening to the news on the blasting old television of his neighbor cursing all of these occurrences as bullshit.

He was just a high school student in his last year preparing for his college entrance exam studying in low candlelight to save electricity only to get disturbed by some unknown bloody virus.

Back then, who could have predicted that it wasn't college entrance that would shape his future, but rather the very same bloody virus?

As dawn breaks, the first rays of sunlight pierce through a veil of clouds, casting a glow over a once-thriving metropolis that now lies in eerie silence. The streets, once a tapestry of orderly traffic, are deserted, marred by dried crimson stains. Subway stations, their screens that once flickered with the latest advertisements, stand blank and shattered.

The sidewalks are littered with decayed bodies, upturned vehicles, and the remnants of unidentifiable creatures, now a feast for worms and insects. This city, burdened by the sorrows of the world, presents a scene of grimness and death.

Gusts of wind, sharp as blades, sweep through the desolation, carrying dust and the stench of decay. The occasional screech of metal-on-metal echoes from abandoned buildings, accompanied by the whisper of leaves and branches disintegrating to dust.

The beautiful Skyscrapers that reached for the heavens which were once the dream of countless youth, now stood fractured and dilapidated. Their once white walls, glass windows and delicate tiles are overrun with algae and climbing vines, covering the once grand prosperity that is now crumpling in dust.

Beneath a blazing red sun, the temperature, which had momentarily dipped, soars to an astonishing 78 degrees Celsius.

Through this desolate landscape, a solitary figure ran with the speed almost invisible to the human eye making his way on the path overgrown with wild flora and stained with dried blood. Clad in a tattered white hoodie swaying with flesh burning wind as the few strands of black hair peeking out sway with wind. The sweat dipped down from his forehead to his scarred collarbone as he ran in desperation.

"Damn it!" he cursed under his breath.

"Someone just anyone," he said through his gasp as he speeds up.

"Please save me..."he muttered again and again.

In the old wooden cabin, nestled deep within the forest of the Silver Moon Valley Pack, gentle morning sun rays streamed through the dusty, small window, illuminating the petite figure lying on the bed. His pale skin glitters as the sunlight reflects upon it, and his long silver eyelashes flutter, akin to a butterfly ready to soar into the vast blue sky.

The teen appears to be in distress as sweat covers his forehead, his pale lips parted gasping for air as his breathing quickens up.

Suddenly, his eyes open wide as he gasps for air. He sat up on the bed clutching his oversized light blue t-shirt which was now damp with sweat.

"What??... where am I?" The teen whispers to himself.

He looks at the dusty and messy room while taking long breaths to calm himself down. As he relaxed himself, he finally looked at his surroundings.

It was an old wooden room that seemed to have not been cleaned for ages. The wooden beams overhead was cobwebbed, the iron scraps scattered like fallen leaves in autumn, their edges dulled by time, while the big old, broken wooden machinery occupied most of the space. His fluffy bed seems to be luxury in such a dirty storeroom. As Ivor sank into the bed, the softness enveloped him.

Yes, this is a storeroom, or at least that's what Ivor believes.

In the dark room, only the small dusty window was the source of light.

"What happened didn't I die? And why does this look familiar?" After confirming that there was no other person in the room Ivor dropped his vigilance to half.

He keeps looking around for room but finds nothing. While distracted Ivor glanced at a pair of white smooth pair hands.

"Aahhh...What are these???"

" ...Hands."

"These are hands."

"....."

"Ahhhhhhh!!"

"They seem to be connected to my body!"

Ivor looked at gentle smooth jade hands without any scars. Only a very thin layer of calluses which seem from doing housework regularly. These were not his hands. His own were rough, bearing numerous intimidating scars from relentless combat and handling weapons.

Ivor frowned, his eyes flashed with suspicion. He looked around and spotted a big dirty mirror in a corner of the room.

He looked into it and couldn't help but freeze. The person in the mirror looked just like him except in place of his Black hair and black eyes, he had silver hair and the most stunning blue eyes Ivor had ever seen. His skin was snow white instead of a tanned brown color due to constant exposure to radiation and sunlight.

This...this was him from his past life but how...

Ivor clearly remembered he had died. And a gruesome death at that. He clearly remembered getting torn apart by zombies while fighting for his life.

Reminiscing his past, from a young age, he had to struggle a lot, being an orphan, he used to see how other kids used to be picked up by parents while he had to work part-time for his daily expenses and eventually his school fees. Even before that, life in the orphanage was very difficult but due to his good grades, the director allowed him to live outside of that poor orphanage where his daily survival was a constant struggle. Fortunately, he had a scholarship from both the state and school, so the conditions were not that bad.

Just as he was preparing for his college entrance exam, the apocalypse struck. Zombies attacked humans and humans were pushed down to the bottom of the food chain.

Not only zombies, but they also have to survive mutated plants and animals. Fortunately, nature had not abandoned humans completely. As humans begin to lose hope, some humans gain superpowers.

Everyone was happy almost all the remaining people gained superpowers from the elderly to the children. But they forgot one major problem.

When the apocalypse came everything crumbled, hospitals collapsed, schools didn't even exist, no supermarkets, no working power plants, and no more functioning dams.

But these things did not disturb humans' determination to live.

There is one thing we all forgot. The most dangerous thing.

NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

There was no one available to oversee the situation, as everyone was preoccupied with their own survival. Because of that, a blast happened one by one as all nuclear plants exploded which shook the entire earth.

Humans are visual animals, they can fight mutated plants and animals, they can fight zombies, they can also fight bad environments, and survive on spare sources like clean water but how can they fight the harmful and deadly radiation that was emitted from a nuclear plant explosion?

Ivon was one of the few lucky ones who survived despite these hard conditions but in the end, he couldn't escape death and died an extremely painful death at the hands of dozens of zombies.

Ivon sighed. Even his enemies shouldn't get such a painful death.

He again started staring at the person in the mirror.

Suddenly an idea flashed in his mind.

"Lowell"

"Hum. What happened, Ivor?" The voice paused as if it thought something.

"Ivor, it's okay even if Augustus rejects us. You still have me. We will live on our own. I will never leave you."

Ivor couldn't help but tear up hearing the voice of his wolf. It's been years since I last heard from him. In the modern world, he was born as a normal human.

"Ivor, don't cry it doesn't matter if he accepts us or not, we always have each other."

Yes, that's what he always used to say but his past self was so desperate for love and attention that he turned deaf to his words.

He realized what was going on... he came back to his past world just a few days before his death after he died in the modern world.

Note one-

Those who can't understand it's like this...

1st world → 2nd world →back to 1st world

Werewolf world→ apocalypse world →back to werewolf world

Note two-

How is it?

Is the improvement worth it?
