I enter my locker combination and hastily open my locker door. As my searching hand wanders to grab my textbook, a white envelope with loopsided heart on the side floats out of it and lands on the floor.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion and bend to pick it up, dusting the dirt on it.

In the envelope is an invitation card to the upcoming 'masquerade party' that is held every year by seniors. I had never been invited to one before but heard lots of ballyhoo about it but let's face it, the day I'll ever attend a party is the day it rains hamburgers.

Just before I'm about to toss the invitation to the bin, a folded piece of paper comes tumbling out of it.

I unfold the piece of paper and neaten the creases before reading the looped cursive hand-writting.

" Dear Cupcake ,

I can never forget the day I heard sniffing behind the maple tree. There was a girl in a green baggy hoodie with pigtails, sitting alone under the shade of the tree, practically hiding and trying to read the book she held in her hands fighting the tears that blurred her vision whenever she tried to do so.

She quickly wiped her tears when she saw me then inadvertently smiled at me.

You were tiny and frail but most especially shy.

Look at you now, totally different.

I bet you don't even remember that day. But why would you? After I left for so long...

But trust me cupcake, never did I spend a single day without thinking about you.

"Can I play with you guys?" I timidly asked the group of kids ringed in a circle playing catch.

They stopped playing and eyed me like I was a piece of junk.

I looked down at my shoes knowing they would say no. They were dirty and how come I didn't notice there was a black icky substance on-

"Yes"

I looked up from my shoes. Wait. Am I hallucinating?

"But. On one condition " Joey held up his index finger.

I knew it! That was too perfect to be real.

"You have to be the 'piggy in the middle' "

Lets be optimistic, at least they let me play with them.

I nodded and timidly walked to the center of the ring.

As the game proceeded, I noticed something was wrong. Every ball they threw 'accidentally' hit me every single time. They would throw it in the right direction then it magically came flying at my face.
The catch rapidly turned into 'Amelia pinata'. 5 points if it hit any random part of me, 10 points for my face and bonus if my face gets disfigured.

A ball shot out of the blue and thwacked on straight on my face, knocking me down with a loud thud.
I groaned and got up, dusting the dust off my clothes.

"Hey guys, can we play another game?" I asked sheepishly.

"Yes how about you play... GET LOST!" they sneered and laughed at me while constantly shoving me and pushing me away.

My vision was blurred and back. Tears threatened to drip my glossy eyes but I tried to hold it in.

I wasn't going to cry. "Be strong" is what mum always said but right now I couldn't. I couldn't be strong anymore.

I ran under the shade of the big maple tree, hiding behind it. I fished my book out of my bag and tried my best to read through the blurry vision and push the thoughts away but a single tear deceived and trickled down my face Until tears bust forth like water from a dam, spilling all over my face.

I heard the faint shuffling of the bushes and looked up to see a ball rolling out from it.

"I'll go get it!" someone shouted.

My eyes widened and I immediately started wiping my tears away with the back of my hand.

A boy ran out of the bushes but halted in his tracks the moment his blue eyes landed on me.

He was the one who picked me up the other day.

" Hey" he breathed out, running a hand through his blonde hair sticking out in all directions.

"Hey" I smiled sheepishly at him.

He returned a smile back and plopped beside me, glacing past my shoulder at the book I was reading. Or trying to read.

"What are you reading?" he pointed to the book I was holding.

"The little prince" I answered.

"And What's it about?"

"Its about a fox who teaches the prince to see with one's heart instead of just one's eyes" I explained.

"Sounds interesting. Go on" he gestured me to continue.

I smiled at him.

"Once upon a time there was a little boy who was a prince on a planet...." I read from my book and occasionally lifted up my gaze to meet a pair of blue eyes.

...

Poke.

Poke.

Poke.

"Amelia?"

I snap out of my trace and quickly pocket the piece of paper in my jeans.

"Hm?" I blink in confusion at a girl standing in front of me. She has brown hair like me except that her eyes are hazel unlike my brown ones.

She facepalms herself and groans in irritation.

"I said -" she stops and looks down, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.

"What was I supposed to say again?" she muttered underneath her breath ,looking in great concentration.

"Oh yes. That's it" she let out a small squeal but then quickly hides it when she sees my questioning gaze.

"I mean-" she pauses and clears her throat.

"OH MI GOSH! LOOK AT THAT GUY OVER THERE! ISN'T THAT FREAKING ADORABLE?!" she shrieks so loudly looking past my shoulder that I have to block my ears using my fingers in case I go deaf.

I follow her line of vision and I swear the whole world slowed down.

In the middle of the school hallway is a guy holding up a poster which reads 'Is it too late now to say sorry?' with a frowning face emoji on the side.

He gradually brings the poster down, showing a glimpse of his jet black hair then his pair of emerald green eyes met mine.

"Oh for the sake of-"

"-Cupid, just marry him already!" the girl beside me squeaks like a squirrel.
No kidding... LIKE A SQUIRREL.

I roll my eyes at Cayden and scatter in the opposite direction.

I accidentally bump into someone and mutter a quick sorry before I force my way out of the crowd encircling us.

Sorry my ass.

A/N

I know many of you are confused right now with the anonymous call and letters and stuffs but trust me, its going to be exciting.

I'm very sorry for all the grammar mistakes through the course of this book and for the Rambling. Its my first time writing a book so I unwillingly leave out those flaws.

Also my mom has no idea about this book so I have to secretly and rapidly write my chapters before she spots me writing. So I guess I leave of typing mistakes and get no time to go through my chapters again and correct them.
Also I have no editor for the time being so please bear with me.
I promise, I'll fix the chapters as soon as I hit that school holiday. I'll get loads of time to correct it then.
By that time please cope and bear with me. Its not easy with school and tuitions and all especially when I'm in my junior year.

I'm working on three other books that will be published once I'm done with this book.

Please don't forget to Vote and comment.

Lol (lots of love)
