~Serenity Tsukiyomi~

I ran as fast as I could. I really hope Kaname is alright...

"Serenity-hime...."  A bunch of Level E's whispered around me. They gathered around me and I looked around.

"You hopeless Level E's... Be punished by the power of the Tsukiyomi family..." I said in a dark tone, raising my hand and emitting a wave that killed the Level E's around me.

I then continued running back to the castle until I eventually reached my father's office and slammed open the door.

"Daddy!" I called out to him as I ran up and hugged him.

"Serenity, thank goodness you are alright. I heard that the town was being attacked.I was just about to go down there myself." He said.

"Yes...But I'm really worried about Kaname. I should have stayed there to help him." I answered in a regretful tone.

"Kaname is strong. He'll take care of whatever is going over is going on down there. It seems that whoever is trying to rebel, wants to bring us down." My mother answered.

"Your Majesties!"

A guard entered the room, attempting to catch his breath.

"What is it?" Mother asked.

"That man... That man that attacked the town... was Rido Kuran, Serenity-denka's former protector! He wants to take her as his wife and devour her when the the time comes! That is what I heard from him!"

Father stayed in his thoughts for a while, but eventually raised his head.

"Summon Haruka and Juuri here, now. There is something that I would like to ask of them."  Father ordered.

"Yes. Right away, sir." The guard stated as he left the room.

"Daddy, what are you planning?" I asked him.

He looked over at Mother and nodded, as she nodded back.

"Serenity... Just know what I am going to do is for the sake of your protection..." He said, looking out the window.

"What are you talking about?" I asked confused.

"Let's go to the throne room, Serenity. I'll explain everything there." Father stated.

"It's really nothing. We personally think you'll be happy by this declaration." Mother said with a smile.

The three of us then made our way out of Father's office and made our way down to the throne room.

As we made our way to the throne room, Kaname was already there, waiting for us at the doors.

"Kaname! You're okay!" I said happily, running up to him for an embrace.

"He managed to escape before I can get to him. I'm guessing this is one of his warnings."

"His warnings? Well, he has done wrong to even think of messing with us. One thing is certain: We must protect Serenity, who is the only heiress left to the Tsukiyomi family. That is why I summoned your parents to come here as soon as possible." Father told Kaname.

Both Kaname and I looked confused.

"You'll find out, soon enough." Mother said.

When we entered the throne room, Kaname stood by my side, and about a few minutes later, Haruka and Juuri arrived with a little girl that looked like was five years old.

"Kaname onii-sama!" The girl said happily.

"Yuuki. Not here, sweetie. We are in the presence of very important people." Juuri stated in a soft, motherly tone.

That's Kaname's little sister... The one that Kaname loves. I took one glance at her and for some reason, I already don't like her...

"Sorry, Your Majesties! My name is Yuuki Kuran!" She said cheerfully.

"What a cheerful one we've got here. Is this your daughter, Haruka and Juuri?"

"Yes, she is."

"Nice to meet you, Yuuki!" Mother said.

"We must get to business. And I'm going to say this right here and now. Haruka, Juuri, let Serenity take Kaname's hand in marriage." Father stated.

There was silence, and honestly I'm just surprised.

"Serenity is in imminent danger. If she marries Kaname, Rido won't be able to marry her and Kaname can be her emperor consort. But it has to be right here, as soon as possible."

I then noticed a sad expression on Yuuki's face which for some reason, made me smirk.

"The thing is, your majesties... We already set an engagement between Kaname and Yuuki..." Juuri said.

"We ask you to please break this engagement to do this...Is that okay with you, Kaname?" Mother asked.

"This is to protect Serenity, our precious daughter from Rido." Father stated.

"It will be an honor to marry Serenity-denka. I'll gladly take her hand in marriage." Kaname said confidently.

My eyes widened in surprise.. Me? Marrying Kaname Kuran, my protector that has been by my side for two years?

"Kaname, are you sure? You did say that you wanted to marry Yuuki when you get older.." Haruka asked.

"Serenity-denka's life is my priority as her protector. I will do whatever it takes to make sure no one hurts her. Her life comes before anyone's. I'm sorry, Yuuki." He said with a sad expression.

Yuuki put her head down and looked away.

"Kaname...." I said in a bit of a surprised tone.

"So I will gladly marry her." He added.

"All right then. If that is what you order, Emperor, then so be it." Haruka stated.

"Then let this marriage ceremony immediately begin." My father stated.

I then noticed that Haruka had the engagement papers that he had already for Yuuki and Kaname and burned them with his powers.

"Go find Serenity a wedding dress that is her size." My mother ordered a maid.

"At once, my lady. Serenity-hime, Can you come with me?"

"Yes!" I said happily.

I'm going to marry Kaname... But it's going to be for the sake of my life and Sora Empire, it's not because he loves me truthfully. And that Yuuki girl looked very upset.

"Mother, I thought you told me Kaname onii-sama and I were going to be like you and Father..."

"I'm sorry, Yuuki. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen."

"But, Mother, I wanted to be with him..."

"I'm sorry, my dear. It seems that there is someone else that will make you happy in this life that you will live.."

From a distance, I can hear what Yuuki is saying after I left.

I feel bad for her, but at the same time I don't.  I feel like I'm taking advantage of my title as the Princess of the Sora Empire. But it's not like he loves me anyways. He's doing this because he wants to protect me, because he is doing ... He truly loves Yuuki.

As the maid was dressing me up into a wedding gown, I thought to myself.

Am I cruel for doing this to Yuuki? To Kaname as well?

One thing is for sure: I don't like Yuuki, but I am not the kind of person that takes away another person's happiness like that.

"You look very beautiful, Serenity-hime!" The maid said happily.

"Thank you."

She had dressed me in a long beautiful white dressed that reached my knees. It was simple, but beautiful. She then put a beautiful golden crown with beautiful white pearls. My hair was curled up and before I knew it, I'm all ready to go.

"Is she ready?" Mother called from the other side of the door.

"Yes."

The door opened and my mother smiled. She came up to me and embraced me tightly.

"I'm sorry, Serenity. I know you're only 8 years old... But if this doesn't happen.... Then Rido may end up taking you..."

I then hugged her back. "It's fine... It's for the good of Sora Empire, right? I'll do anything to protect it."

"Thank you, Serenity..."

My mom then escorted me out of the room back to the throne room.

My father stood at the door that leads to the throne room while my mother smiled at me one more time, making her way inside.

"Serenity, I'm sorry that you are getting married at such a young age... But this is for your the sake of your protection..." My father said.

"I understand.... It's okay. It's Kaname and I can trust him." I said with a smile.

"Shall we go?"

"Yes." I replied taking his hand.

The doors opened, revealing Haruka, Juuri, and Yuuki standing on Kaname's side. Kaname stood in front of the three thrones while my mother stood by an altar where the Sora Empire's prince crown rested there. I never had an older brother or even a sister. Kaname will become the very first Level A that is married into a Level S pureblood family... He's dressed in the outfit he wears while he is my protector, but he's still handsome, no matter what he wears...

When we made it up to the altar, Kaname took my hand and we then clasped our hands together.

After the vows and such were made, Kaname and I just signed papers and created a blood bond between each other.

"The rings will be given to you when you reach the age of 18. You two have small fingers, of course." Father said with a laugh.

"I now pronounce your name as Serenity Tsukiyomi Kuran. And Kaname, I hereby declare you the prince of the Sora Empire and Serenity's emperor consort." My mother announced, putting the crown on Kaname's head.

"It is done. This union will be made public tomorrow evening. Then I'm sure Rido will step back for a time." My father stated.

"Understood." Haruka responded.

"I promise you right here and now, I will protect you, Serenity-denka." Kaname stated, holding my hands a bit more tighter.

"You do realize you can call me Serenity now. It's weird to say this at our age, but you're my husband now. And you are the future emperor of this empire."

"I guess you are right. I'll try to use your name without adding honorifics to it."

"Yes. Please do that." I said with a smile, giving him a kiss on his cheek.

~a few days later~

Our marriage was made public to everyone to the front cover of the newspaper.

Breaking news! Our next emperor revealed! Level A pureblood Kaname Kuran marries Serenity Tsukiyomi-hime!

There was a picture of Kaname and I holding each other's hands leaving the throne room. Come to think of it, there was a photographer there.

"Mother, where is Kaname?" I asked her as I was drawing on my notebook.

"Kaname is at the Kuran residence taking care of a few things. He'll be coming soon." Mother said as she was getting paperwork done.

"I want to see him..." I whispered.

"Sakura-sama!" A guard barged in the room.

"Yes? What is going on?"

"Rido... Rido has returned! He's here with an entire army of Level E's and rogue vampires!"

"What?!"

"I'm going to go stop him. I'm sick of him just coming here and thinking he can get away and doing whatever he wants!" I said, standing up about to leave the room.

"Serenity, I think we should wait for-"

"No, Mother. I can't always rely on Kaname for help! Plus, we are Level S Pureblood vampires! We are way more powerful than the Level A's! I'm going to take care of this right now!" I stated, running out from the room.

"Serenity!"

Right now, Kaname is probably spending time with Yuuki, since he spends most of his time here with me...

I ran outside the castle, finding myself in the woods.

"Serenity-hime... I have finally found you."

I turned around, only to find Rido in front of me surrounded by Level E's.

"Serenity-hime. Become mine."

"Never! I already am married to someone!"

"Ah, yes...I had almost forgotten that you are now Serenity Tsukiyomi Kuran, the wife of Kaname. But that doesn't change anything. I can steal you away from him."

A shadow casted over my bangs.

"You don't know how capable I am, Rido. I can just kill you right here, right now."

Clouds began forming around the area as thunder began booming around the area.

"Serenity, calm down! Don't let your anger take over!" Kaname called out, running up to me, putting his hand on my shoulder.

I immediately calmed down my powers.

I then heard the clashing of swords and fighting throughout the Sora Empire.

"What is going on?"

"I have ordered my Level E's to attack the entire empire. You could say that I'm calling war against the Sora Empire. So prepare yourself, future Empress." Rido said with a smirk.

Kaname stood in front of me protectively.

"You will not hurt Serenity, Rido."

"Why must you be overprotective, Kaname? This girl is even more powerful than you are and you're stopping her from using her powers."

"Serenity is far too powerful. I've been told by both the Emperor and Empress to make sure that Serenity does not unleash her powers."

"Why teach her then, if she can't even use them to her advantage?"

"In case she's in danger and I can't be there for her."

"Hah. Ridiculous. Get rid of Kaname. And get me Serenity-hime."

By simply looking at them, Kaname made the Level E's disappear one by one. I decided to help him out by doing the same thing.

The fighting continued and led us to a cliff. I was fighting the Level E's up to the cliff's edge.

This will never end. They just keep coming and coming...

"Serenity, you need to leave! Stop fighting and find your parents!" Kaname called out to me.

"No! I don't want you to keep fighting like this either! He's doing this to tire us out!" I answered.

I then felt something pierce me all of a sudden. My eyes widened.

"SERENITY!" He called out loudly.

Kaname was surrounded by Level E's and no matter how many times he used his powers to escape, he was not able to.

Is this my end...? If so, then I want him to know my feelings.

"Kaname...I truly...I truly, genuinely, love you....." I whispered with a smile.

He knew what I said because his eyes widened.

I felt myself falling down from the edge of the cliff, and I knew that from here, I would lose consciousness and eventually be devoured by Rido while I am unconscious.

Why didn't I just listen to Kaname? If I just listened to him, this would have never happened...

Before I knew it, I went unconscious...

~Kaname Kuran~

"SERENITY!" I called out as loud as I can to her.

Damn it... I can't free myself... No.. I have to save her! I cannot lose her, for she is...for she...

"Kaname...I truly...I truly, genuinely, love you....." She whispered.

What is Serenity Tsukiyomi to me?

Do I just think of her as someone that I want to protect?

...Or does she mean to me more than that?

That cannot be... I..I love Yuuki, don't I? But right now, I have to find Serenity!

I finally broke free from the Level E's grip, but there was no sign of Serenity. No...she can't be dead. She is a Level S pureblood. She should be able to survive this. I went down to where she could have landed, but I still couldn't find her.

"Serenity! Where are you?"

She couldn't have faded to dust, right? No... Serenity!

I ran through the woods, but there was still no sign of her. I have to find her... She can't be gone...

"Kaname-sama. Your parents request that you return to the Kuran residence immediately. Rido Kuran is approaching the residence."

What is Rido planning? For now, I have to go back there... Yuuki's life may be in danger. And I'm sure Serenity will come and find me if she is alive. While she searches for me, I will search for her. But I cannot show myself to the Emperor and Empress like this.. Not when I was responsible for this happening.

~Serenity Tsukiyomi~

I open my eyes, feeling the soft sheets of a bed. I quickly sat up, looking at my surroundings.

"You have finally opened your eyes..." A soft voice spoke.

I looked to the side, only to find a pair of twins with grey hair and beautiful lilac eyes looking at me.

"You're so pretty..." Ichiru said.

"Ichiru, she's a Level S pureblood vampire. I don't know why you suggested that we'd bring her here." The other twin said

"She was unconscious. We weren't going to leave her there, now weren't we? Don't be so cold, Zero."

"Where's Kaname?"

"Who?"

"Kaname! Where is he? Hasn't he come here?" I said sadly, hoping to get a yes for an answer.

"Sorry miss. But we don't know who Kaname is." The boy called Zero answered.

"So this is the pureblood princess of the Sora Empire. Serenity Tsukiyomi Kuran." A middle aged woman said, entering the room.

"Who is Kaname?" Ichiru asked.

"Kaname Kuran is her husband." The man by the woman's side said.

"Husband?! But she's young!" Ichiru answered.

"This happens when it comes to diplomatic marriages. They were married for a reason." The woman answered.

"Who are you? How do you know who I am?" I asked them.

"We are vampire hunters. These are our sons, Zero and Ichiru Kiryu. And do not worry. We will not hurt you. We will help you get back to the Sora Emp-"

"Is it okay if I stay here a a few days? I want to wait for Kaname." I answered.

Their parents looked at each other and then looked over at me.

"You don't seem vicious, Miss Serenity. You may stay here. But do not try anything ridiculous." Their father said.

"I won't. I don't wish to hurt anyone..." I said with a sigh.

And from that day forward, I ended up staying with the Kiryu family.

~Kaname Kuran~

"Yuuki, everything is going to be alright." I reassured her.

"But I smell blood everywhere!" She said, embracing me tightly.

Too much... Too much is going on right now. First, the Sora Empire was attacked, Serenity has disappeared, and now Rido is here, wanting to get Yuuki..

I lost Serenity, I cannot lose Yuuki either.

"It's okay. I will make sure to find a place for you, where no one can hurt you."

Juuri entered the room, Yuuki running over to her for an embrace.

"Mother! There are a lot of scary things outside!"

Juuri then came up to me, giving me a kiss on the cheek.

"Take care of Yuuki... And Serenity-denka... I know she still exists somewhere. She can't be dead..." She concluded with a smile.

"Yuuki, come with me."

"What about Kaname onii-sama?"

I then turned my head away.

"Kaname onii-sama!" She called out.

The door closed shut.

Right now, I have to do what I must do with Yuuki. I have get to her... She is going to end up roaming around somewhere after she loses her memories. I'll take her to Kaien Cross. I'm sure he will raise her well.

~Serenity Tsukiyomi~

~Six Years Later~

After many years of searching for her, it's confirmed that Serenity Tsukiyomi Kuran has been killed by a Level E. Kaname Kuran hasn't shown himself either, so the heirs to the throne of Sora Empire are still unknown.

"I see.... So they think I'm dead now... Kaname as well." I said in a dejected tone as I looked at the newspaper.

"Don't you think this is for the best? Isn't the life of a royal too much?" Zero asked.

"It is...But it gave me the opportunity to be with him."

"Still talking about that Kaname guy huh.... Is he that important to you?" Ichiru asked.

"He is. I love him." I said with a smile.

"Gross...." Zero said in disgust.

Ichiru then stood up and made his way out.

"I need to go and do something. I'll be back." He stated, then leaving the room.

Why am I sensing that he is up to no good?  I then sensed the presence of a Level A approaching the Kiryu residence.

Shizuka Hio... What is she doing here?

Zero got up and was about to leave the room.

"Zero, wait..."

"Zero, Ichiru! Leave immediately!" Their parents called out.

"Mother, Father!" Zero called out, opening the door and leaving the room.

I can't show myself! The vampire society thinks I'm dead...

I then heard Zero groan in pain, then I heard the noise of something stabbing through skin.

I then resolved to leave the room, finding myself face to face with Shizuka Hio.

Zero and Ichiru's parents were on the ground, dead.

"Serenity-hime?" Her eyes widened in surprise.

"How dare you do this?!" I said angrily.

I noticed that Ichiru was by her side.

"I'm sorry, Serenity." He said in a bit of a regretful tone.

"What is going on here?! Are you not supposed to be at the Kaze Kingdom protecting the Shiraishi family?!" I said in a loud, but confused tone.

"I chose not to. Being a protector to the Level S pureblood vampires...is something that is a waste of my time." She said with a smirk on her face.

My eyes glowed red. "Leave now. And I will not take your life away." I threatened.

She has no choice to obey my command. The abilities of a Level S go way beyond a Level A.

"As you wish, Princess. But just know this: I will return someday to accomplish my goal. He is a vampire now." She said looking down at Zero. 

"Goodbye for now." She said, leaving with Ichiru.

After they disappeared, I immediately ran over to Zero trying to get him to wake up.

"Zero, Zero! Are you okay?" I called out to him.

He slowly opened his eyes, glowing red. I knew he had a desire for blood. Even though I wasn't the one that bit him, my blood can take away his thirst for a few years.

"Zero, you are going to be okay. I need you to take my blood. You won't be in pain for a few years." I told him.

"Serenity, I can't..."

"It will heal your pain for now. My blood has the ability to heal as well. Trust me." I reassured him with a smile.

And with that, he bit into me. I closed my eyes, putting my arms around him.

"You're going to be okay. I am going to take you somewhere safe." I whispered.

After about a minute or so he finished, I put on a cloak, covering myself.

"Why are you hiding yourself?" Zero asked in a sad tone as he covered himself up.

"I don't want anyone to know I am alive. For now, I'll return to the Sora Empire and only the members of the royal family will know that I am alive. And please, don't tell anyone you saw me."

"I promise, I won't."

"That's a good Zero."

I quickly transported Zero to the Hunter's Association.

"Knock on the door and ask for Kaien Cross. Explain to them what happened and he will take you in." I instructed him.

He took my hand. "Will I see you again?"

"Who knows? Maybe you will, maybe you won't. But I really had fun spending time with you and your family, Zero. I'm sorry things turned out this way for your family." I said with a sad smile.

I then quickly raised my hood and quickly made my way back to the Sora Empire, making sure no one noticed. I hid my presence as a Level S and was able to make it through.

When I made it to the castle, I transported myself to the throne room, where I sensed my parents' presence.

When I showed myself, both of their eyes widened.

"Serenity...?" My mother said, who was on the verge of crying.

"I'm back!" I said with a smile.

"Serenity.." My father said at a loss for words.

The both of them came up to me and and gave me an embrace.

"We have to make an announcement that you're alive! That you and Kaname are to-"

"Not right now. I want this to be kept a secret. I don't want anyone to know yet that Serenity Tsukiyomi is alive."

"Why not?"

"I just don't want to feel pressured on becoming the Empress. The citizens expect me to become their ruler in the future along with Kaname. I'm not ready yet. I prefer to do things at my own pace."

"Alright, fine. All that matters is that you are alive. Our only daughter." Mother said as we all broke from the embrace.

From this day forward, after my "death," I became known as the Forgotten Princess...Only my parents, Shizuka, and the Kiryu twins know that I am alive.

As for Kaname, the man I love, he thinks I'm gone. Dead. But I'll find a way to see him again. He knows my feelings... But I wonder... Did he feel the same way?

Maybe I'll find out someday when the time comes...
