Chapter 43: Not Again

Ears ringing, head pounding, eyesight blurry.

Hoseok gasped for air, trying to get as much oxygen back into his lungs as soon as possible. People were running around franticly, sirens could be heard from a distance, and the once-elegant building was now up in smoke.

"Where is Y/N? Where is my sister?" was the only thing, he could say before blacking out again.

I sat at the kitchen table eating my cereal when mom asked, "Hoseok, where is your sister?"

"It's Y/N, mommy. She is probably running around as usual."

Mom shook her head. "That girl can never sit still. Y/N, breakfast is ready," she yelled.

We could hear little feet pattering on the floor. Seconds later, my kid sister zipped into the kitchen.

"I'm Ladybug Girl!" she shrieked, slipping into the chair next to me. And the saga of acting out her favorite book, Ladybug Girl, begins.

"Did you know ladybugs eat bugs?"

I sighed. "Yes, everyone knows that."

Dad came into the kitchen, placing soft kisses on the top of my head. "Good morning, my boy."

"Good morning, my dad."

He picked up my sister and sat her on his lap. "And how is my Ladybug Girl doing?"

"I'm,"

Y/N started crying hysterically. Suddenly the scene around me was dark. There was a horrible stench of blood in the air. Through the shrubs, all I saw were the guards fighting, "Protect, Y/N, I must protect Y/N." I chanted, but she wasn't there when I turned to face her. "Y/N? Y/N, where are you? Y/N!"

Hoseok jostled out of his sleep but quickly fell backward light-headed. He looked around and realized he was lying in his bed in one of the Crimson hideouts. He tried sitting up, but the pain was unbearable. So, he laid there looking up at the ceiling fan, watching as the blades spun so fast that it was nearly impossible to see. Hoseok thought if he focusses long enough, maybe he could see one clearly, but the more he focused, the more the events from last night flashed before his eyes.

"Y/N!" he shouted before bolting out of bed, and this time he felt nothing. Maybe it was an adrenalin rush coursing through his veins.

He ran down the stairs to see mostly everyone else sitting in the living room, having their wounds tended to. It was complete chaos bodyguards and doctors were running all over the place.

But, at the moment, that wasn't his focus. The only person on his mind was Y/N. He checked the living room, kitchen, and guest bedrooms. Finally, he went to Yoongi's room only to find him sitting in a chair with his head in his hands.

He looked around, but the person he longed for was nowhere in sight. "Where is she? Where is Y/N?" he asked out of breath.

Yoongi sighed, not bothering to look up. "I don't know." That was all he could say.

Hoseok's world crashed. "What do you mean you don't know? You have to know. Is this some type of sick joke? Where is she? Please tell me, where is she?"

Yoongi angrily stood up from where he was sitting. "You think I would joke about something like this? I have a full house of people we care about, injured and in pain. I don't know the whereabouts of the love of my life, I don't know whether she's dead or alive, and you come in here with this bullshit."

"This can't be." Hoseok rushed out of the room. Yoongi followed behind him, wondering why he was so worked up about this.

"Hoseok, what is it you're not telling me?" Yoongi asked after catching up to him in the living room. This also caught the attention of the others.

"What's going on?" Taehyung asked.

Hoseok was frantic. "No, I just got her back. I can't lose her again. I didn't even get to tell you the good news."

Jimin limped over to Hoseok and held his face in his hands. "Hey bro, look at me. What's going on? We can't help you if you don't tell us."

Hoseok pulled him into a hug, crying, "Jimin, I found her just to lose her again."

Jimin finally understood why he was acting the way he was. Yesterday Hoseok had finally gotten the answer to one of his many questions. Was Y/N his biological sister? And the answer is Yes. "Tell them," Jimin said, wiping away his tears.

Yoongi looked at the two suspiciously. "Tell us what?"

Hoseok took a deep breath. "Y/N is my long-lost sister."

"WHAT? Are you sure?"

Hoseok pulled up something on his phone. "Unless this is a faulty DNA test, I am 99.9% sure Y/N is my biological sister. Ever since I met her, I always felt this deep connection to her. The closer we got, the more she told me about her past. It wasn't until she told me about her recurring nightmare, which she has almost every night, that I grew suspicious."

San gasped. "Are you talking about the people with no faces? She told you about that?"

"People with no faces?" Yoongi asked with furry eyebrows.

San nodded his head. "Yes, ever since I've known her, she has dreamed about a little girl sitting in a corner with hands over her ears from the loud bangs. Gunshots. When she opens her eyes, all she is dead bodies and blood everywhere. A figure with no face approaches her and tells her to run, and then Y/N awakes in cold sweats. Sometimes I had to sleep in her room to wake her up if it got too bad."

"Well, I analyzed everything she told me, and I realized what she was saying matched up to the events of that night." Hoseok clenched his fist. "The night my family was taken away from me."

"Despite being Mafias, my family was very loving, caring, and respected. We often worked closely with the authorities to hunt down their untouchable criminals. We were like vigilantes for the injustice. But don't get me wrong, we also had our fair share of what civilians considered unlawful. Actually, my family produced and sold weapons. We were the perfect unusual family."

"What happened?" Wooyoung asked.

"Well, you know people say all good things must come to an end. I just never thought that statement would ever apply to me. Fourteen years ago, my sister, Y/N, and I were running around the house stirring up trouble like we always did. Until our mother told us to go upstairs to the playroom. It was something she always did whenever someone who wasn't family came by. It was their way of protecting us and our identities."

"My baby sister used to call me sunny because she thought I had a smile as bright as the sun and Cas the chase to tease me whenever she wanted to play. She had this cute obsession with ladybugs."

San chuckled. "That explains a lot. She even has a tattoo of a ladybug behind her right ear."

Hoseok smiled. "She always tried to find a ladybug with the most spots because she thought, the more spots they have, the more wishes you get to make. So, I always told her she was my sweet little ladybug with a limitless number of wishes. She was my happiness."

"All of sudden, a few of my dad's most trusted bodyguards came into the room and told us that we were under attack and that they needed to get us to safety. One of them held my hand and carried my sister in the other. With all the chaos, we separated from the guards and somehow ended up outside. It was a bloodbath."

"All I could think was to get Y/N to safety. So, we crawled between the space of some bushes in the corner of the house. It was in the cut. Hard to see anything or anyone unless you were right there. I don't know how long we were hiding, but I knew we still weren't safe.

Someone yelled, "Boss ordered us to find the children and bring them to him alive. I told my sister to stay hidden while I lured the attackers away. Maybe I shouldn't have left her alone, but I thought it was for the best. When I came back for her, I saw blood coming from behind the bushes and thought the worst."

"How was I supposed to know that would be the last time I would see my ladybug? Sometimes I wished I had stayed. I would have at least known the face of the bastard that ripped my family apart. Instead, I was left alone in confusion. I had No father. No mother. No sister. I thought, what did I do to deserve this? Are they dead or alive?"

"If it weren't for Yoongi's father taking me in as one of his own, I probably would have fallen into depression. He promised that he would do everything to find out who was behind the attack. He kept his promise, and when we tried to confront the family, they were already gone. I have spent years trying to find the missing pieces, but nothing. I always came to a dead end."

"Until Y/N started working alongside me. Whenever I was near her, I had a familiar feeling I never thought I would experience again. Even Jimin had his suspicions of the both of us being siblings. He always joked about how Y/N and I resembled, and coincidentally, both our last names were Moon. So, I pulled her medical records and had our private doctors run a DNA test."

"Turns out Jimin's suspicions were right. Y/N is my long-lost sister that I have just found. I can't afford to lose her again." Hoseok choked, trying to hold back his tears.

Many emotions are in the air right now, confusion, anger, and sadness. Confused as to who would be so reckless and do such a thing. Angry at the simple lack of knowledge nearly killing them. Sadden because they're missing someone they cherish.
