Chapter 36: Delivery
The girls, including Irene, Seulgi, Joy, Yeri, Wendy, and I, were in my city penthouse dressing room getting ready for the Banquet with music blasting in the background. After that night at the club, we all became close, and as expected, new relationships bloomed amid the chaos.
Aside from that, Yoongi and Hongjoong hit it off and became close. Yoongi even invited them to the Banquet. I honestly wasn't expecting Hongjoong and the others to get along so well since they're usually reserved when meeting new people.
My phone started ringing. I looked at the screen, "Speak of the devil. He will appear." Yoongi was facetiming me. I went downstairs into the kitchen for a quieter place, but I could still faintly hear the music playing upstairs. The girls were too distracted having their own little karaoke party to notice I left.
I answered the call. "Missing me already?"
"Of course, I'm missing you, but that's not why I called. Wait, what's with all the noise?" Yoongi dramatically gasped, "Are you having a party and didn't even bother to invite me? I'm so disappointed in you, kitten."
"Well, I wanted to be respectful in not disturbing the elderly while taking his little nappy," I said, teasing him.
"Hahaha, very funny. Are you a comedian now?" he asked sarcastically.
"Only on the weekends, but no the girls are just-" I was cut off by the girls screaming. I laughed at the craziness that's going on in my room right now.
Yoongi laughed. "Well, it sounds like you guys are having an enjoyable time. I was calling to tell you that you and the girls will be taking a separate limo from us."
"What, but why?" I asked, confused.
"Since we aren't married, you can't be seen getting out of the same car as me. It's one of the most disrespectful things I could do to you."
I scoffed and asked, "Why would that be disrespectful?"
"Seulgi could probably better explain the importance of this tradition better than I can. But there are presumptions about an unwedded woman seen getting out of a vehicle with a Mafia man in the Mafia world. The presumptions are degrading, and that won't be happening on my watch." He explained.
"Wow, intense much?" I asked, genuinely surprised.
"It's a tradition that has been done for years. It just shows the undying respect I have for you. It's me claiming you as mine and letting everyone know that it's you, I chose to be the next Queen, my Queen." he explained even further.
"Oh, by the way, a package should be delivered to your door in three... two... one..."
Ding Dong
"What the fu-that was creepy."
"Go open the door, silly."
I open the door and am greeted by one of Yoongi's Butlers. I know he works for him because of the Gold Y encrusted on his uniform.
"Good evening, Mrs. Min," Mrs. Min? I thought to myself, "I'm here to personally deliver a package from Mr. Min."
"Oh, you can just leave it in the living room."
He placed the box on the living room table. "Have a good evening, Mrs. Min."
"Thank you."
"Of course." He politely bowed and left.
"Mr. Min?"
"Yes, Mrs. Min?"
"That's funny. When was the wedding? I don't remember attending. I don't see a ring on this finger."
"It was for future reference, and I knew it."
"Knew what?"
"Knew, I would love to give you my last name."
"Cheesy. King, what the hell is this?" I asked curiously.
"Open it and see for yourself, kitten."
I opened the box to see nine masquerade masks. "It's the guys and I tradition to attend all Mafia events in Masks, one to appear mysterious and two to protect our identities. Since you and the girls will be a part of this life, we wanted to make sure you're all protected. Dating or marrying us will give that family more power and raise their ranks. Which makes you, Lisa, Rose', Jennie, and Jisoo targets by other Mafia clans."
I scoffed. "Do you know who you're talking to? You and I both know we can protect ourselves."
He rolled his eyes. "Of course, I know that, but please wear them for my peace of mind," he said with pleading eyes.
I can't resist those eyes. "Okay, fine, cutie, but there's ten of us. I only see nine."
"Keep looking." is all he said.
I spotted a red box with my name on it. Untying the big red bow, the box opened, revealing a crown and a red mask with gold accents. A gold eternity diamond necklace with a bracelet and earrings to match was underneath. "Wow, these are beautiful," I said, carefully examining the gifts.
"I had them especially custom-made for you." He cooed.
"I don't know what to say. When did you even have time to design this?" I asked.
"I have my ways, but you caught my attention from the beginning. I won't say it was love at first sight, but the attraction was there. Your charisma, boldness, fearlessness, and undying beauty make you undoubtedly perfect." I looked at him, utterly speechless by his confession, and he must have noticed, "You don't have to say anything. Just make sure you wear it tonight."
"Okay, I will, I promise."
"Good, well, we still have two hours before we have to leave, so you should probably finish getting ready. See you tonight, kitten. Can't wait to see you in your dress."
"Can't wait, King." I hung up the phone and squealed, "Oh my gosh, how did I get so lucky?"
"I like to think I'm the lucky one." I heard Yoongi say. Wait. I glanced down at my phone to see Yoongi smiling back at me. I hung up the phone for a second time. "He won't let me live this down. I can see it now." I grabbed the boxes running up the stairs. "Girls, I have something for you!" I yelled, running up the stairs.
Heading Out
King: Kitten?
Me: Yes, King?
King: Are you girls finished?
Me: Yes, we're currently waiting in my living room. What about you?
King: We are leaving now. The limo for you girls should arrive within the next 10 to 15 minutes.
Me: Okay, the girls and I will head to the lobby then.
King: Make sure you all have what you need, and don't forget what I told you earlier.
Me: Yes, yes, I know I will wear the special gifts, and I've already explained everything to the girls.
King: Good girl, see you at the Banquet can't wait to see you.
Me: I'm only a good girl for you...DADDY!
King: STOP IT!
Me: Stop what? I didn't do anything!
King: Don't play innocent with me!
Me: But it's so fun teasing you.
King: We'll see about that.
Me: I guess we will. See you later, King.
I laughed at our little exchange; it really is fun teasing him.
"Can our highness please share with room what, or should I say, who has you smiling so much?" Jisoo asked teasingly.
I ignored her teasing. "We should head to the lobby. Yoongi just texted me that our limo is on the way, and I don't want to be late."
"We know you just can't wait to see your man," Wendy said. Oh god, not her too.
Seulgi stood up and twisted a strand of my loose hair. "I mean, he even marked you and everything that is a big thing in the Mafia world." She said briefly, gazing at the necklace and crown.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh, shut up, it's no big deal. It's just a piece of jewelry."
Irene thumped me on my forehead "Ouch! what the hell was that for?" I asked, caressing my forehead. Damn, she's heavy-handed.
She looked at me and said, "For your unbearable ignorance. It is a big deal, and it's more than just "Jewelry" the King has crowned you claiming you as his Queen. Think of it as a marriage proposal."
Joy looked at me, amazed. "I'm more amazed you manage to get claimed by the ruthless closed-hearted Mafia King. Some women have been scheming for years to get just one night with him, and then you make an appearance making him fall head over hills for you. Wow, you are truly amazing."
"I am who I am. And marriage proposal?! Damn, I wasn't expecting it to be this serious, I don't mind, but still, it's shocking."
Yeri held my hand and begged, "Please, tell me about the secret on how to have a man kneeling at your feet."
"Yeri sweetie, what did the doctor say when you were born?" I asked.
She looked at me confused and hesitantly answered, "Uhm... it's a girl?"
"Exactly, you were born with an upper hand, but how you nurture and use it makes you powerful."
She jumped in excitement. "Wow, your so cool."
I smirked. "Tell me something I don't know."
Lisa loudly sighed. "Enough of this. Can we go now? I miss my bunny?"
"And I miss my pooh bear," Jennie said.
I laughed. "Let's go before these lovesick girls lose it even more."
Everyone laughed and walked into the elevator that led to the lobby.
