Jungkook's Point of View:
After dinner, I went back to my office and sank into my chair, lost in my thoughts. Jimin was across from me, busy on his phone, while I wrestled with the weight of my decisions. The pressure of what I had done and what lay ahead weighed heavily on me.
Jimin suddenly muttered, "You love her," still focused on his phone.
Confused, I asked, "Who?" His gaze met mine knowingly as he said, "Moon, Jungkook. You love her."
I was caught off guard. Admitting such feelings, even to myself, felt daunting. Moon had changed my life, but love? That was complicated.
"I don't know," I confessed quietly. "But what does it matter? She's the enemy's daughter, and I've kept her captive."
Jimin leaned in, serious. "Love isn't always logical. Sometimes it just happens, even in difficult situations. You need to figure out what you want and what you'll do for her."
With that, he returned to his phone, leaving me with swirling emotions and doubts.
Jimin's words stuck with me. I realized I had developed feelings for Moon, feelings I tried to bury for my family's sake.
"When you first mentioned her, I was confused," Jimin continued, smug. "But I saw how you talked about her. You care for her, Jungkook, and you're hiding her from your father. If he finds out, it's trouble for us both."
His words hit hard. I cared deeply for Moon, risking everything to protect her. It was risky.
"Jimin," I started, uncertain, "what should I do?"
Jimin's words were sharp, and logical. "You have to decide. Is she worth it? Can you trust her with everything, even the risks? Or do you keep hiding, risking her safety?"
Conflicted, I closed my eyes. Moon meant so much, but the risks were immense.
"What if she learns she's only here because of her father?" Jimin pressed on. "Would she believe you care, or see it as betrayal?"
His words hung in the air, pushing me to a choice that could change everything.
Just then, our phones rang. Security had news about the Moon. I answered, bracing myself.
"Boss... Miss... Moon... she..." The voice trembled, urgent.
Frustrated, I snapped back, "You had one job, Li!"
Jimin's phone rang too, tension mounting as we got updates simultaneously.
My secretary burst in, panicked. "Boss, Miss... attacked," he managed.
-------
I stepped into the living room, the vibrant space now tainted by an eerie silence. My eyes fell on a crimson pool seeping into the plush carpet. The scent of raw blood hung in the air, thick and suffocating. My gaze followed the grim trail leading to the archway of the kitchen. The scene before me was a macabre canvas painted with the crimson hue of fear and violence.
The kitchen, usually bustling with the warmth of Moon's laughter and the aroma of her ramen, was now a cold, lifeless space. My eyes searched, and my breath hitched as I saw Moon huddled in the corner, her pink cardigan stained a deep red. She was trembling.
I approached her, my footsteps echoing in the stark emptiness. The blood had soaked into her clothes, turning the fabric a dark, ominous shade. Her eyes were vacant, staring at a spot on the floor as if it held the answers to unspoken questions. My heart hammered against my ribcage as I reached out to her, my hand hovering in the air, unsure of how to bridge the chasm of terror that separated us.
Finally, I touched her shoulder, and she jolted, a gasp escaping her trembling lips. She looked up at me, her eyes swimming with unshed tears. "Jungkook," she whispered, her voice barely a murmur.
"Moon," I said, my voice gentle yet firm, "Moon, you need to calm down. Tell me what happened." But she was beyond hearing, lost in a world of anguish and guilt. Her eyes searched mine, desperately seeking absolution or perhaps just understanding.
Her entire body convulsed with sobs, and my heart ached to see her like this. I had never seen her so broken, so utterly destroyed. I knew I had to act fast, to somehow bring her back from the brink of hysteria. Carefully, I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into my chest.
"I killed her," she cried out, her voice filled with anguish. As she sat there, her whole body started to tremble violently. Her breaths came in rapid, shallow gasps, and tears streamed down her face unchecked. Her hands clutched at her knees tightly, fingers digging into her skin. She rocked back and forth slightly as if trying to find some comfort in the midst of overwhelming fear and guilt.
Her words tumbled out in fragmented whispers between sobs, each one filled with anguish and despair. "I... I killed her... they'll... they'll take me... I didn't mean to..." Her voice cracked with emotion, and she choked on her words, unable to continue as waves of panic washed over her.I knelt beside her, feeling utterly helpless in the face of her distress. As I slowly cupped her cheek, her violent shaking and vehement denial only heightened my concern. "Moon, listen to me," I urged softly, trying to break through the storm of her emotions.
Her head shook violently. "NO! I killed her! She said... she wanted to... dump me back to the Kims... saying that I've had enough of whoring around... she... she jumped me with a knife."My anger surged at her words, but I restrained it, knowing she wasn't in her right state. "Who?" I demanded, my voice hard.
"The chef," she cried out, her body starting to go limp. I quickly grabbed her, holding her close.
"Moon?" I called urgently, shaking her gently, but she continued to tremble uncontrollably. I took a deep, shaky breath and began to stroke her hair, whispering sweet nothings into her ear, hoping that my touch and voice could offer some small semblance of comfort amidst the chaos.Slowly, her sobs began to subside, and she leaned heavily against me, her body going slack with exhaustion, slipping towards unconsciousness.
"Jungkook!" Jimin's voice yelled from the living room. I shook Moon, but she wasn't responding. My eyes darted to the corner where the chef's lifeless body lay, hidden by the shadows that had claimed the room. By seeing the scence I was sure that the chef must have attacked her, and in self-defense, she had taken the knife and ended the woman's life.
I heard hurried footsteps behind me, and then Jimin's shocked voice. "Oh my god," he swore.
Jimin had already dialed the doctor, his voice shaking as he relayed the events. "She's in shock," I said, taking the phone from his trembling hand.
