Chapter 2

Caspian's pov:

(1 day prior to crash encounter)

I pull up to my apartment in my black Chevy truck. I take the keys out of the ignition and grab my bag and phone. I then lock the truck and make my way to the front door. The pathway leading up to the door is smooth cobblestone and there are flower beds on each side at the end. I open the door with my new set of keys and step inside. The door closes behind me with a click.

The movers I hired already came and unloaded all of my stuff for me. All the furniture is set up in place where I told the movers to put them when I messaged them earlier on and sent them a photo of where I wanted everything to go. The rest of my stuff is still in boxes that I will need to unload at some point.

The place is very homey and quiet.

The apartment is a two-story building with three bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and a hallway lounge. One of the rooms has an outdoor balcony which will be my room. And the cherry on top: there is a little yard outback with a swimming pool as well as a patio spot for outdoor cooking.

How did I end up scoring such a decent apartment? Well, I met the owners when I worked as a waiter to make money during college, and they were regular customers during the holidays. The last time I saw them they were up in town during the holiday they happened to be looking for someone to rent the apartment out to. They were not having any luck with finding people to rent it to that would not cause them any trouble.

They had mentioned the place to me when I had told them I was looking for an apartment to live in after I graduate from Princeton University. We talked numbers and came to an agreement. That is how I scored myself a great place to live.

I spend most of my time unpacking the boxes containing all my stuff. It's almost five in the evening by the time I have gotten everything unloaded and situated to where I want.

My stomach grumbles telling me I'm hungry. I enter the kitchen to cook myself something to eat. That is until I realize I just moved in here, and I haven't gotten to buying groceries yet. I sigh and pull my phone out of my pocket. I look up some pizza places in town and order in a large pizza.

Ding Dong the doorbell goes off. I open the door and pay the delivery man in cash. I shut the door and take the pizza with me to the couch in the living room. I set the pizza on the coffee table in front of the couch and grab the tv remote. I turn on the tv that is wall mounted on the wall straight ahead of the couch.

I search through Netflix for the show I have been watching. Once I find the show I am looking for I hit play, eat my pizza, and enjoy the next episode of Criminal Minds.
