Chapter 14
Rutvika's P.O.V.
A bright early morning being pushed out of bed by the sound of the evil alarm clock and falling off your bed is never a nice way to start your day. Well that's how I've started my day today. The weekend passed being extremely boring with just movies to watch as all my friends were busy they said.
Well I didn't waste these two days. I have got dreams that I've got to accomplish. I want to be a journalist and for that purpose I've been working on my language skills, mainly conversational skills. I've been taking parts in report writing contests. I've also been watching interview videos of different stars who fascinate me. That's it. My weekend ends here with an ugly morning to go and visit my high school.
Plus, today I'll be facing Tara. Who knows what's on her mind. Anyways I need to get ready. I check out the time on my phone and that's when I can acknowledge that I'm already late. Oh no! I need to get ready in 10 minutes and leave without breakfast if I want to reach on time.
As soon as I'm ready, I grab my breakfast packed in a tiffin, stuff it in my bag and make a run for my bike. I really love my bike. I've never been afraid of it as my dad used to take me on his bike to see places many times. Those were the days.
Anyways, time changes people.
I reached the school already a minute after the bell rang yet reached the class on time. And then I saw a girl clinged to Sargam. I can't stop the pang of jealousy in my heart. But the girl... I haven't seen her earlier. Our bald headed sir walks into the class keeping his eyes straight towards the class making eye contact with all the students and that's when he asks the same girl to introduce herself.
She comes forward flashing her long, beautiful legs dressed in a very short skirt on purpose it seems. She flaunts herself and makes an introduction saying her name to be Samantha and she is a transfer student as well. She moves back to her place with other girls and guys demanding her attention yet continues to flirt with him. All these images are stinging my eyes. I need to ignore them and concentrate on my own studies. My future depends on it. I looked at the professor who was hurriedly explaining chemical formulae and started writing notes. The other lectures passed in the same way and then its time for lunch break. I went to my usual table only to find the others already there having a tensed look supporting their faces.
Pari nervously asked me whether I saw the new student and when I replied yes the only question escaping her mouth was," Do you like her?" My answer was as clear as a glass, a big fat no. Then all of us started casually chatting when my eyes found Tara. I was shocked was an understatement. She was dressed in normal clothing, no short dresses at all with a neutral expression not one of attitude. I stood bewildered but decided not to question her.
That's when she suddenly started taking bold steps towards me from the corner table where she had been sitting alone rather than the popular group's table. She stood in front of me and asked me if I had a minute to talk with her. I wanted to say no but I don't know why I decided that it's better to listen.
We went inside the gym and I stood there waiting for her to begin. And she told me why our friendship was broken, why she acted rudely and how she started liking Sargam but now she didn't. I didn't know what to say or whether to believe her or not. The words escaped my mouth before I could stop them," I need some time to think about rekindling our friendship." "That's okay," she replied with a small lopesided grin. That was enough for me to take my decision. Yet I need to discuss about it with others. I went back to the cafeteria explaining the matter to others and all of them agreed to give Tara a second chance. My happiness knew no bounds on getting my old friend back. Our group is reunited. Now I just need to bring Sargam back. But a new problem called Samantha has entered the picture now.
