Part 22

Third Person POV

Samy and Sid slept all the way, till the airplane started its descent towards the runway.

Both woke up as the lights came on and looked at each other. Sid was still holding Samy's hand close to his chest and realized she was now aware of the fact.

Samy had a cheerful look on her face as she woke up and faced Sid, the warm and fuzzy feeling in full flow as she felt his hearbeat against the palm of her hand. It was then it struck her that she was supposed to be mad at him, as the previous day's memories took over her brain.

Sid smiled lovingly at Samy returning the warm smile plastered on her face. At first he was relieved that she wasn't mad at him for holding her hand., but then got confused as her feelings changed quickly and the love and warmth was replaced by bullets and missiles. He quickly released her hand and braced for the impact.

Samy was on the verge of exploding, when the plane hit the runway and both stayed calm as the plane landed and rolled towards the gate.

Sid recovred both their hand luggage's from the overhead bin and then both exited the plane aware of the growing tension between them. If not for the crowd around them Samy would be throwing punches at him.

After finishing the airport formalities both rushed towards the taxi pickup spot. Infact it was like a racing game with Samy rushing forwards with breakneck speed and Sid trying to catch up with her.

"I already booked an Uber for both of us."

"Who asked you to book for me. Infact you take it and I will even pay for it from my personal account. I booked my own."

"But Samy .."

"Stop it Sid .. you are not going to change. With this trip you broke the last remaining goodwill I had for you."

"Don't say that Samy .. I know a few mistakes happened from my side, but I was concentrating so much on winning the contract for you, that I lost track of time."

"Not just time .. you lost common sense too. I don't care about the contract and you don't too .. remember you resigned from the company. You were only interested in insulting me and sidelining me the entire time. Anyway this is the last time we meet again. Don't contact me again. Good luck with your new job and new boss. Bye Sid." Samy  turned her face away as her Uber drive arrived. She opened the door and slammed it shut before Sid could react.

"Samy please .. Samy .." Sid tried to talk to her putting his face against the car window.

"Just drive .." Samy commanded the driver as he looked behind at Sid knocking on the window.

"Yes maam" the driver pulled the car away with Sid following it for a little distance.

Sid couldn't believe the words Samy hurled at him. He knew she was hurt, but what he thought was going to be a small storm ended like a tsunami.

He reluctantly moved towards his cab and got in, angry at loosing a golden opportunity to make Samy his life partner. He tried to forget her before, but she always came back stronger that made him more miserable, after the breakup.

Sid kept on calling Samy next day and she kept on ignoring his calls. Sid didn't give up and kept on trying her number the following day.

"Sid, you understand very well that I am ignoring you and am not interested in whatever you are selling or going to sell. You are an educated and intelligent person, so keep whatever dignity you have left intact and don't fall further in my opinion. Please stop calling." Samy screamed at Sid and disconnected the call when she couldn't take the torture anymore.

"Eventhough it is painful, you need to accept the fact that Samy is not interested in getting involved with you. You need to respect that and move on .." Sid's  innervoice warned him.

Sid decided to try forgetting Samy to respect her wish to leave her alone.

Meanwhile Samy got an email from executive recruiter Mark finalizing her interview with her dream company IQTech. Samy didn't think too much about it and accepted the interview offer. She was now hundred percent motivated to move out of her current position.

Soon Monday arrived and Samy stepped into her office dreading the discussion with Senior Management about the Singapore project. She would suggest them to back out as it wouldn't be possible to execute the project without top notch java gurus.

The moment she opened the door the CIO was waiting for her in her office and dragged her to the CEO'S office.

"Congratulations Samy .. job well done. We are proud of you. We bagged the project. We just got the final confirmation."

"Thank you Sir! But I have serious reservations against the project. The design presented by Sid was as per research white papers presented on a popular geek site and I don't think we can implement the project successfully without big help from outside experts." Samy replied politely trying to remain calm.

"Ofcourse we agree. As you might already know we got the project only because of the new design and the client is aware that Sid was the author of the research white papers. I know you are worried because Sid is leaving,  but Sid committed to us that he will provide and train our team on the core engine, eventhough he is leaving the firm. So we should be good. We are going to celebrate this win. Good job! you are really brilliant. Inspite of your health, you managed to pull it through."

Samy didn't hear rest of the speech. She was surprised, she didn't knew that Sid was the author of the geek website. It all made sense as she realized the ease with which he presented the design. It was his own design. She thought he copied it from the site.

Now she understood why the client went gaga over Sid. She was angry of getting sidelined, but slowly it dawned on her that she was wrong to blame Sid for the attention he was getting from the client.

"Jesus! How could I be so stupid .. not knowing Sid was the author behind the geek website. He didn't tell me on purpose to make a fool out of me. Looks like I am the only one who didn't know about it." She walked out of the CEO'S room mentally face palming.

Sid knew it was impossible for the firm to execute the project without his help and didn't want to leave Samy stranded,  hence he promised to deliver the core engine and train the folks during weekend, so that the project gets implemented successfully.

His reputation was also at stake, so he  committed to the firm's management his intention to help tbem with the project.

Same day evening Sid went to temple with Varun, his close friend and childhood buddy. Just as Sid finished praying at the Ganesh idol and turned around, he saw Samy entering the temple.

Eventhough Samy was wearing a simple churidaar, Sid took a second to regain his composure and realized she hates him.

He immediately pulled Varun away towards other side of the temple.

"Hey! What's going on? Is someone chasing us?" Varun questioned Sid.

"No just trying to get away from someone. She hates me."

"Damn! Must be Samy .. please introduce me to her. She must be really special to hate you." Varun followed Sid's eyes and immediately recognized Samy.

"No way! She will kill you along with me. You better get your own introduction." Sid pulled Varun further away from Samy.

Samy made her usual rounds around the temple and reached the main part of the temple. She always made atleast three pradakshanas (going around the idol ) around each deity. As she went around the main deity, she prayed the God to give her enough strength to getover Sid.

The moment she took Sid's name, her brain began to waver and the memories of the time spent with Sid started  flooding her system.

Walking around the main deity she shut her eyes harder trying to control her brain and at the same moment bumped into something hard.

Sid was standing in the front of the deity, praying with his head bent and eyes closed, when someone crashed into him.

Samy opened her eyes and couldn't believe Sid was standing right in front of her.

"Damn! Am I  dreaming? Did I ask God to bring him here? What is he doing here?" Samy looked at him with a puzzled expression. She couldn't believe, of the ten million people in the city, she crashed into the one person she was trying to get over.

"Common Varun, lets get out of here before we get blamed. Some people hate others so much and are so good at finding fault with them, even for their own mistakes." Sid glared at her and
pulled Varun away. Varun couldn't stop smiling, controlling his laughter, as Samy stared at Sid, trying to digest his outburst.

"Oh Sid! common, look at her puppy face. She has eyes just for you. She didn't even look at me once." Varun made fun of Sid, earning a light punch to his shoulder.

For Samy it was clear she finally made Sid angry enough to hate her. So God did grant her wish, but seeing him get angry at her like that left a very bad taste in her mouth.
