Chapter 6

America's POV:

I felt a bit bad about leaving Canada all by himself, but I had soon forgotten about that. I bought lunches for Russia and China then ate my homemade meal.

After my next two classes, I met Father England outside the school. He was waiting in his dark green Mini Cooper for me.

"How was school?" England asked me as soon as I took a seat and shut the car door.

"It was fun, I guess," I said. "But it was still school. Learning is boring." England frowned when I started whining.

"You need to learn how to be more disciplined, America. I've raised you to be tough," Father England pulled out of the parking lot and started driving home.

I couldn't help but feel like we were forgetting something...

Canada's POV:

The sun started to go down. I shivered as the temperature began dropping. I sighed and said aloud, "I can't believe they forgot me again..." With no other choice, I pulled out my phone to call Father France to ask him for a ride, just as I watched the red coloured battery in the corner of my screen run out of fuel and my screen went black. "Dang..." I muttered. "I shouldn't have wasted all my battery playing Maple-Leaf Story..."

France's POV:

When I got home from work, America and England were seated at the dinner table, waiting to eat. I joined them and looked around for a bit.

"Welcome home, France," England said, sipping his tea.

"Thanks, uh, where's Canada?" Both America and England's faces froze when I said this.

"Shit! That's what we forgot!" America stood up quickly in a panic. "I need go go get him! I can't believe we were so careless!"

I sighed and said, "I'll go get him. You two can finish dinner and Canada and I will eat later."

"Are you sure, dear. After all, it was my mistake," England said. "I can go get him if you'd rather relax."

"No, it's quite alright," I said. "I don't mind going out again." Since I hadn't taken off my coat or shoes yet, I simply walked back outside, getting in my car. I drove to Canada's school as quickly as the speed limit would allow me to, and pulled over next to Canada. He was sitting on the ground, his head leaned back against the wall, his eyes closed, his chest rising and falling softly. I got out, lifting Canada up off of the ground. His skin was really cold, and his nose was running.

"G- Good evening, Father," Canada yawned as he woke up. "Thanks for p- picking me up."

I sat him in the passenger seat, doing up his seat belt for him. "Next time they leave you here, call me."

"My phone was dead," Canada said. "Is was going to though."

"Bring a charger to school then," I said. "Is was worried. And sleeping outside is dangerous."

"I'm sorry.. I'll try not to," he looked down a bit shameful as he apologized.

"It's alright.. let's go home."

Canada's POV:

By the time Father France and I got home, England had already gone to sleep. America, however, was awake and waiting for us. As soon as we came into sight, America basically trampled me.

"I'm sooo sorry, Canadaaa!" He said whilst wrapping me in a tight embrace. "Will you ever forgive me!?!"

"Nnn... y-yeah," I wheezed, trying to catch my breath. "I forgive you, just, l- let go if me p- please."

"Right.. Haha.. sorry, Bro," he let go of me, letting me fall to the floor.

"Oomph!"

"S- Sorry again..." Grabbing my hand, America pulled me back up to my feet. "Did you hurt yourself?"

"No."

"How about you two go to sleep. Canada, there's dinner in the fridge if you want to eat something first," France said. "I could heat it up for you."

"I'm fine. Thank you though, Father," I said. "I think I'll just go to bed for tonight." I started making my way to my bedroom, followed by America.

"Why aren't you eating?" He asked, looking considerably concerned. "Are you still feeling sick? Is it because we forgot you? Are you upset?"

"No, I'm just not hungry," I said. I changed into my pajamas and crawled into bed. Instead of changing and getting into bed as well, America sat on the edge of my bed, looking down on me sweetly. I felt the blood rise to my face and I was positive that I was bright red.

"You're blushing..." America said softly. Just his voice made me shiver. What on Earth is happening to me? "Do you like me?"

"Eh? O- of course I do! You're my brother, I love you!"

"I don't mean like that... I mean like me in a non-platonic way," America said. "I mean, you kissed me, and, you act all weird around me. I didn't really know what was going on, so I asked around a bit and did some internet searches on having crushes, and now I'm a bit convinced this might be the case. So if you do like me, just be honest and tell me. I won't be mad."

"Do I.... Like you?" I asked out loud, more saying it to myself than asking him. "I don't... know."

"There's only one way to find out," America said. Using his large hands, America gently placed his hands on the back of my neck. I felt my eyes widen as he pulled me towards him.

"W- What the--"
