Chapter 5

Canada's POV:

I ran all the whole way home without stopping once. I could hear America behind me as he chased me there, but I covered my ears to try and drain out the sound of his voice, calling for me to stop. When I got home, I ran inside and into the bathroom, slamming and locking the door behind me.

"C- Canada!" America yelled. "Stop running away! Can't we just talk?" America rapped his fist on the door several times.

"N- no.. Go away.. I don't wanna talk," I whimpered. "I'm r- really, really sorry, America.. but you should just leave me here forever -- I'm a terrible person."

"It's really not that big of a deal, Bro. We can just pretend it never happened. You were probably just feeling fuzzy from your fever and acted without any forethought," America said. I could picture his smiling face from behind the closed door. He really was an amazing person. Slowly, I unlocked the door and let it swing open.

America's POV:

Canada had tear-stains down his cheeks, and his cheeks were flushed bright red. I kneeled down next to him and carefully wipes a tear off of his face with my thumb.

"You're okay," I said. "I'm not mad. Let's just go get you cleaned up, alright?" Biting his lip, Canada nodded and started standing up. I took his hand in mine and walked with him into the living room.

"We're back~" the front door opened, and Father France ran in. England entered soon after. His clothes and hair were all messy, and his neck was covered in little bruises.

"W- what did you two sat you were doing again?" Father smirked.

"We went.. uh.. paint balling!" England shuddered before stepping inside and away from France.

"I- if you don't mind... I'd like to take a shower," Father England said. "America, put the kettle on the stove for me when I get out..." He left the room, leaving just France, Canada and I.

After a few seconds, it seemed France had finally noticed Canada sitting next to me on the couch, because his expression contorted with worry. "What happened today? Why is he crying?" France asked, walking towards us and sitting next to Canada. Canada turned away from him -- he clearly didn't want to tell France what he had done earlier. I don't blame him. I wouldn't want to either.

"He's just really not feeling well," I said. "Like... really not well. It's not like he did anything really weird today or anything." I smiled my most convincing smile.

"Right.." France said. "And what didn't he do that's really weird?"

"He ki--" Just as I almost sold him out (completely by accident), Canada covered my mouth. "Mmh!" I looked over at him. Canada looked like he was about to punch me in the face.

"Nothing happened, Father," Canada said. "I'm sorry if America has convinced you otherwise."

"Er... it's alright, I guess." France didn't look like he believed a word we were saying, but he gave up on finding out for now. He got up off of the couch and started walking towards the kitchen. He poured some water into the kettle for England then began preparing food for dinner.

"Sorry," I quietly apologized after Canada took his hand off of my mouth.

--The Next Day--

Canada's POV:

The next day, I was feeling better, so I decided to go to school. America and I didn't have any classes together, so I never really saw him during the day. Honestly, I was a bit sad not seeing my brother at school, however it just made seeing him at home more exciting. Today however, I was fine with not seeing him. Or, him not seeing me. I was content with watching him hang out with his friends from the sidelines. Creepy? No, I think it's just me being protective. If something were to happen, then I would know. And also... I don't have any friends to hang out with.

I sighed and opened my bento box. England had made it of course. I surpressed a gag and took a bite.

"Hey, Bro," I nearly spat out my bite with surprise when I heard America's voice. I looked up at him. America was smiling cheerfully. "Why are you sitting here all by yourself?"

"I, uh..."

"Oi! America, who are you talking to?" China walked over.

"Yes, who is it that you are conversing with?" Russia joined them.

"My little Bro, Canada. Have you guys never met him?" America asked looking a bit dumbfounded. Both China and Russia looked a little shocked when they suddenly noticed me here. China even blushed red with embarrassment.

"I-I am so sorry!" China shouted. "I did not feel your presence, nor did I see you."

"Oh, it's fine--" Russia cut me off.

"America, we should go now. I still need to buy my lunch from the cafeteria and you owe me money from last week," he said smiling.

"Oh, alright, dude," America waved to me cheerfully. "See ya later." And then he left. I almost felt relieved. Seeing him just reminded me of yesterday.
