18 | His Secret
Simran :
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at him.
He looked pale.
"How dare you touch my diary! You had no right!", he said as he immediately walked down to me and picked it up.
A tear slip down my eye.
He was the same guy at the Dance School.. I had heard of him and I really liked him. I was infuriated when he had replied that he would not do waltz with me. In the anger and heartbreak I had gone really overboard..
This had hurt him so so much, he had kept it all in his heart for all these years.
He stood up straight and kept the diary inside the closet and shut the door.
"Why—", he paused when he saw my tears, which were flowing involuntarily. I immediately tried to wipe them off.
My throat was numb as I lowered my gaze.
Ashamed.
How heartless had I been to say such things about him!
"Simran..", he said softly placing his hands on my shoulder.
"No.. No..", I mumbled, drowning in regret.
"It's okay. I don't even remember all of that now.", he said in a soft and soothing tone.
I looked up at him.
"You remembered all these years.. You wanted to avenge..", my voice broke. He looked at me sadly as he drew in a deep breath.
He pulled me into a tightly hug as he rested his chin on my shoulder. I broke down into tears.
Vikrant :
I held onto her, as she hugged me as if her life depended on me.
A tear slid down my eye as I blinked continuously, trying not to cry. I rubbed her back as she cried on my shoulder.
"I am sorry..", she mumbled.
She finally moved away and looked at me guiltily. Her beautiful face was tear smitten. I could see something beyond the guilt.
Pain.
"What is it?", I asked involuntarily.
"What?"
"This.. That you are hiding.", I said looking straight into her eyes.
She immediately took a step back, wiping her eyes as she lowered her eyes.
"No.. There's nothing."
I drew in a deep breath.
So it was true.
"It's okay. You don't have to tell me.", I said as she looked up at me for a while.
I smiled at her.
"You know there's a lot I also like to hide. But it does no good whatsoever. Because people will anyways take you wrong.", I said as she kept looking at me.
"Why do you have a problem with touch?", she asked directly. I drew in a sharp breath.
Should I tell her?
Will she judge me.. Like everyone else would do?
"You can trust me.", she said, as if she read my mind.
"Come, sit and tell me.. You just said there's no point in hiding.", she said sitting on the bed.
I went and sat beside her.
I did not look at her as I kept looking at the closet, zoning out slightly.
She placed her hand on mine, I felt her warmth.
"There's much you don't say, Vikrant. I can see it. The loneliness.", she said.
I smiled and looked at her, my eyes were numb, "You know you'll be a great businesswoman. How easily you changed the topic onto me! I would never be able to do this..", I broke into laughter as she did too.
"Ah, that's my talent, Sher Khan.", she said wrapping her arms around me pulling me into another warm hug.
"Tell me. All these years I thought that you were just arrogant, so you gave that reason. But now I know you the humblest and kindest man that there is - so I need the reason.", she said in a soothing voice.
Humblest and kindest.
No one except my family ever thought I was anything close to that.
I shut my eyes and hugged her.
"I..", my heart skipped a beat, I was scared - just the way I had been so many years back.
She sensed my fear.
"Tell me..", she said rubbing my back soothingly.
"I was molested.. When I was a kid..", and my voice broke.
She paused and moved away, looking straight at me. Tears rolled down her eyes.
"You're scared of touch?", she asked softly. I nodded, avoiding her glance. "It was when I was only five or six, he was an uncle of mine..", I couldn't say further as I started crying.
She cupped my face with her hands and slowly kissed my forehead.
"It's okay..", she said in a soft voice.
"I-I.. Hate it.. I-I do-don't want to.. But..", I said between sobs.
I looked at her.
Her face was only inches apart.
This was the moment I felt it very strongly.
I was in love.
I needed her, her touch.
I advanced and kissed her cheek.
"Don't leave me..", I mumbled near her ear.
"Never.", she replied.
She smiled at me sadly.
"I need you.", I mumbled as I moved away.
"I'm here for you. And only you.", she said in a voice just above a whisper.
...
I'm really emo now.
