Chapter Eighteen

Hestia smiled when she saw her sister. She ran and gave her a tight hug, before turning back to Din.

He walked up to Hera and nodded his head once in greeting.

"Are you both staying?" Hera asked. Hestia looked to Din, who shook his head. "No, I need to find others of my kind so I can return the child to the Jedi."

Hestia was quiet at his words, and Hera frowned. "Why don't you at least come and eat some food? Both you and the child will need as much strength as you can get."

Din refused, to which Hestia gave a quiet sigh of relief, but it did not go unnoticed by Hera or Din. The green twi'lek frowned, before a small smile appeared on her face.

"I'll leave you two to say your goodbyes", she said. Hestia turned to glare at her sister, but she had already disappeared.

They stared at each other, neither one saying anything. Eventually, Din spoke, uttering two words.

"Goodbye, Hestia", he said quietly. Hestia gave him a weak smile, fighting back tears the entire time.

"Goodbye, Din", she said as she turned and walked toward the Ghost. When she reached the ship, she turned to look back at Din, before disappearing into ship.

~~~~~~
Hestia tossed and turned in her sleep, mumbling something unintelligible. This continued for a long time, until she shot upright, screaming one word. A name.
"Din!!"
In what seemed like a second, Hera was in Hestia's room. She pulled her sister into a hug.
"Shhh, it's okay", the green twi'lek murmured. "You're okay."
Hestia cried quietly, letting her sister comfort her. When she stopped crying, Hestia pulled away from Hera.
"Nightmare?"
Hestia nodded, wiping away the remaining tears from her face.
Hera smiled softly, offering a little more comfort. Hestia tried to return her smile, but it was weak.
"What happened?" Hera prompted. Hestia looked down at her hands and fiddled with the edge of her blanket.
"It started out as the same nightmare I had when we were kids. The memory of my friends being killed. But I also saw Layla there", Hestia whimpered. "I saw her get slaughtered with the rest of them. But it wasn't Master Skywalker who killed them. It was Qin."
Hestia wiped away the tears that started rapidly falling down her cheeks. "But then it shifted. It shifted to when I saw Qin again. He killed both Din and the kid. That's when I woke up."
Hestia hunched in on herself, having started to cry again. "It reminded me of when I did almost lose Din."
Hera remained quiet, but when Hestia did not speak again, she asked a question that Hestia hadn't expected her to ask.
"Tia... who's Din?" Hera asked quietly. Hestia froze and looked up at her twin.
"Um... that's Mando's name. Din. Din Djarin."
Hera paused. "You know, this mandalorian of yours is very unlike Sabine."
Hestia chuckled. "I know. He's part of a strange covert. They never take off their helmet in front of anyone, and they keep their identities a secret for the most part, only telling those they trust."
Hera shook her head. "Yep, you got yourself a weird one."
Hestia nodded. "I really did, didn't I? Too bad nothing is ever going to happen. We... we haven't been talking to each other recently... and that was a major part of why I chose to leave him. Because he wouldn't talk to me after finding out a major part of my past."
"You mean about Qin", Hera murmured. Hestia nodded.
"After he found out I knew Qin, he stopped talking to me. I mean, we would have a brief conversation every now and then, but not what it used to be." Hestia frowned as she remember the flight that brought her to the Ghost and her sister a few weeks ago. "And then he found out about Layla. He found out that Qin was the father. And he stayed quiet, not saying a word to me until he was leaving."
Hera pulled her sister into another hug. "He'll be back", she said. "And when he does return, I'm gonna kick his butt so hard he'll start crying."
Hestia giggled. "Good luck with that."
Hera smiled and pulled away from her sister, resting her hands on the orange twi'lek's shoulders. She stared deeply into her sisters eyes. "Hestia, promise me that you'll try talking to him. You can't always wait for him to start talking. Sometimes you just have to talk at men for them to understand."
Hestia nodded. "I'll try."
Hera smiled. "Good."
