I sat comfortably on the sofa, watching my little cousins play around in front of the tv. I glanced at the time on the clock, seeing it was 11:15am. My mom walked in from the kitchen and looked at me, "Iris, why don't you take your cousins to the park?"
All three of their heads snapped up after she said that and I groaned "Mom, no! I would never survive that!"
She smiled, "Yes, you would. Kids, go put on your shoes." They all stood up and
scurried away to put on their shoes.
"Mooom, whyyy can't Hollllyyy goooo?" I whined stomping my foot as I stood up. She gave me a look and I sighed.
"Fine." I walked to the door and pulled it open, "KIDS, LET'S GO!"
...
"Iris, look how high I can go! " Lola exclaimed as she swung on the swing. I smiled, nodding my head "I see you, Lola."
Lola was the youngest one of the three, which was four years old. The other two were twins, like me and Gabby but they were a boy and a girl, Jody and Jenna, both of them are seven. They were playing on the slide while Lola came walking over to me.
"Can I go play on that one?" She asked, pointing to the jungle bars. I nodded, picking her up and walking her over there. I placed her on one of it and she started swinging forward. As she did that, I took a look around the park, seeing mostly mothers here with their toddler children. I looked over at the mini skateboarding side that was a couple of feet away. I saw a blonde girl, wearing shorts and a crop top talking to a guy who leaned against the ramp. My heart skipped a beat when I noticed the guy was Jason. I turned away, hoping he wouldn't see me.
"Lola, how about we go over there?" I asked, pointing to a random thing that was far away from this side of the park.
She nodded, "Okay."
I picked her up and carried her over to that ride. I felt a stare on me but I decided not to turn around in case it was him
looking at me. I placed Lola securely on the round-a-bout before slowly beginning to turn it.
She giggled "This is fun!"
I smiled, nodding my head "It is, isn't it?"
She threw her head back as her hair blew in the wind. I sighed, looking over at Jody and Jenna, they were still doing okay on the slide. I took a quick glance towards where Jason was standing earlier and saw he was gone. I assumed he went home but I was wrong.
"Hello, princess."
I jumped hearing his voice before I turned around to face him
"Hey."
He smiled, his cute smile that made my knees weak. "What are you doing here?"
I shrugged, motioning to Lola "My mom made me bring my cousins."
He nodded, licking his lips "Oh, cool."
I nodded, looking down at his arms that were visible due to his v-neck. Whenever I saw him, he wore a jacket, so this was the first time I got to see his arms that were full of tattoos. I wanted to look at them longer, run my fingers over his arms while I observed every tattoo he got. But I didn't wanna seem weird so I looked at Lola again. "What are
you doing here?" I asked, not looking at him.
"Just came to hang out and um.. Talk to some people."
Some girls.
I thought to myself but didn't say anything, I just nodded "Cool."
Lola got off the ride, walking up to me "I'm done." I smiled, picking
her up.
"Okay, you ready to go home?" She nodded and I looked over at Jody and Jenna? "Come on guys, we're leaving."
They came jogging over to me "Do we have to go?" Jenna asked, a frown on her face.
"Yeah, do you need to go?" Jason asked from behind me with a smirk. I glared at him "Yes, we do."
"But I don't wannaaaa!" Jody and Jenna both whined.
Jason smirked at me before crouching down in front of them. "Hey guys, how about Iris and I take you to McDonalds? You guys like McDonalds?"
They both nodded and Lola's head lifted up from my shoulder "I like McDonalds too."
Jason smiled, looking at her "Then let's go."
"No." I said, shaking my head "We have to go home." They all frowned.
"Please, Iris?" Jason shook his head, still smirking "Come on Iris, they're hungry and you know you wanna come too."
I rolled my eyes, mumbling "Fine, we can go."
...
"Be careful and take care of Lola." I said to Jody as the three of them went to the play area of McDonalds once they were done eating. Jason smiled, placing his hands in front of him on the table "You're really great with kids."
I looked at him and smiled. "Thanks."
He nodded, smiling back at me. I placed my elbow on the table, putting my chin in the palm of my hand "Tell me more about yourself."
He frowned, sitting back in his seat "Why, so you can tell Holly?"
I shook my head "No, not at all. I just wanna know more about you."
He bit his lip, staring at me for a second before leaning forward again "What do you wanna know, princess?"
Do not blush. Do not blush. Do not blush!
I shrugged "Anything.. What's your favorite color?"
He smiled "Purple and yours?"
"Blue. How old are you?"
"Eighteen, you?"
I bit my lip, "I'm seventeen." He looked into my eyes and I looked down.
"Can I ask you something?" He asked, making me look back up.
"Yeah."
He smirked slightly "Why do you always look down whenever you blush or when I look into your eyes?" I shrugged my shoulders.
"I don't know.. I'm just shy I guess." I mumbled, fiddling with my fingers.
He licked his lips "No, you're not. I've seen you with your friends and other people, you don't seem shy with them but you are with me."
I looked up at him and into his caramel brown eyes "I'm sorry."
He shook his head "It's okay."
I bit my lip "It's just that. I never really talk to guys, especially not to guys like you."
He furrowed his eyebrows "What do you mean guys like me?"
I shrugged "Popular, cute bad boys."
He smirked. "You think I'm cute?"
I rolled my eyes "Of course, that's all you heard." He chuckled, getting out of his side of the booth before coming to sit next to me in mine.
"You don't have to be shy for me, princess." He ran his hand over my cheek making it heat up. The two of us sat in silence, we both just stared at each other quietly. I was about to look away from his burning gaze but his voice stopped me. "Don't look away."
A light sigh fell from my lips and I kept eye contact with him. He cupped my face "You're so-"
His phone started ringing and I instantly looked away, my breathing uneven by the amount of contact we made. He sighed heavily before pulling it out of his pocket
"What Alex?" He hissed, his jaw clenching. I gulped and looked out of the window. "Fine, I'll be there." He shoved his phone back in his pocket.
"I have to go." He said, looking at me. I nodded.
"Okay.. Thank you for all of this." I said, motioning to the table.
He nodded, smiling at me slightly, "You're welcome, princess." He stood up from the table and glanced back at me one last time. "I'll see you at school."
I nodded, biting my lip and he walked out. I sighed, throwing my head back against my seat "Oh. My. Gosh."
