Shelby's P.O.V
It bugged me that Mystery Man never took his cloak off. Or Ace? I don't know what to call him. But I loved him nonetheless, and that's what mattered. I felt his pulse quicken as I grabbed his hand and pulled him down the hallway, where I had set up a pancake breakfast. "Surprise!" I exclaimed, grinning. I let go of Ace, and he slowly walked over to the table decorated with painted stones. He picked a polka-dotted one up. "This... this is amazing, Shelby. How did you...?" he asked, the smile clear in his voice.
"Ah, y'know, just a little baking and a little painting over night, it really was nothing."
He placed the stone back on the table and ran over, enveloping me in a hug. I blushed. Once he'd let go, he bounced back over to the table and plopped down in a wood seat. I sat across from him. "Well, I guess since you're so nice to make this..." Ace said slowly.
"What?"
"I'm ready."
"For what?"
"For you to see my face."
His eyes were the same beautiful red I managed to catch a glimpse of yesterday. His brown hair glitched and flickered like Vanellope did in Wreck-it-Ralph. His face was red; he was blushing like mad. I slowly stood from my chair and went around to him. I placed my hands on his. And I kissed him on the cheek.
I felt a tingling sensation in my chest. I pulled away a little, our noses still only inches apart. The tingling began spreading through me, and it began to hurt a little. "Shelby, what's wrong?" Ace asked. I went back over to my chair and sat down. "Shelby, what's the matter?"
"O-oh... nothing. I... just feeling a bit off, that's all."
Ace raised an eyebrow. "Is it me? Do I look that ugly?"
I gasped. "No, of course you don't! I've never seen anyone better-looking!"
"R-really?"
"Yes!"
Ace's eyes widened. "What?" I asked.
"You're glowing."
"What?"
"Shelby, what are you hiding from me?"
"I-I... I don't know!"
Suddenly, a smirk spread across Ace's face. In my moment of panic, I fell off the chair and scrambled over to a corner, shaking violently. I curled up into a ball. "O-oh Shelby, I'm so sorry. I won't hurt you, I promise," I heard Ace's voice get louder as footsteps came towards me. I peered up at him. His face was plastered with worry. He reached out to touch me, but as we made contact, a shock buzzed up my arm. I yelped. "N-no..." Ace's frown deepened.
"What are you hiding from me?"
"It can't be."
"Answer my question!"
"We have quite a lot of talking to do."
