Chapter 5: The Perfect Flesh

His playful face became nonchalant in seriousness as he went to one of the work areas that seemed to be a little darker in lighting compared to the other work areas. This was the work area for hackers, wiretappers and spies, their job is to keep an eye on people which they are tasked to do and gain as much information as they could about them.

He took a seat by his place, he was the leader of the team, he has utmost control on how this part of the association works or how they progress. He knows everything about their team, which concerns him because they have been monitoring the social circle for so long, it's terrifying to be involved in their endless sea of conspiracies. If ever someone got involved in that line of mess, peace will never be a word to describe their life in the future.

"Edgar, gather a team and monitor a few people for me. Notify me about their recent activities, referring to the task of fiancé candidacy undercover. Find me the perfect flesh." he commanded, crossing his arms and cynically gazing over at the bright screens of countless monitors in the area. "Have you found any?" he questioned once more. He knew his team better than anyone else, the team could already be finishing the task before he could command them to proceed in the first place, which is really efficient.

The subordinate, known as Edgar glanced over at his leader. "We have, actually. Ever since we heard the news, the team predicted that you would command us to do so. We already have a list of possible candidates which we monitored for quite some time now, sir." his subordinate spoke as he showed the monitor that he was working on to his boss.

Cristopher leaned forward to clearly read the information provided to him, his eyes darting from every little information and summarizing it mentally in his mind.

"Their families are dangerous, taking risks isn't the best choice. We need someone with authority, but idiotic." Cristopher spoke, his subordinates already understanding what he meant and nodded.

Clicking through various files and folders, it took some time before they found a certain file which they are looking for.

"This one, sir. I believe, this little Missy will satisfy your requirements." Edgar spoke in a low tone and moved aside to allow his leader to take a look at what he has to show.

Cristopher's eyes were fixed on the information he was given, skimming through information that doesn't seem appealing to him and finally managed to spot a certain information that allowed a plot to form in his mind.

"Yes, this one is perfect, her parents won't notice a thing. Gather me a troop and proceed with the plan. I'll deliver the instructions in a while." he spoke after reading relevant information that will aid his plan.

His subordinate quickly understood and went to do what he was told.

Cristopher kept his cynical, stoic expression as he continued to read the file which contains information about everything he needs to know, and everything he needs to inform her.

"Carmilla Rosette', I hope you won't grow to despise me. After all, Crystal is my main priority..." he mumbled under his breath as he walked out of the work area. For now, he has to be well prepared, for this task is no ordinary task that they have been through. This is different, because it has something to do with...

Him...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

"Crissy!" Cristopher yelled out, rushing through the halls and slamming the doors open as if he owns the place. A wide smile in his expression as he managed to arrive at one of the training arenas in the far west wing of the building.

Crystal gave a hum of acknowledgement of his presence as she swiftly evaded an incoming attack from her colleague whom she is having a spar with. She then swept her right leg across the floor, tripping her colleague out balance before aiming her pistol right as his head.

"I win." she cockily spoke while retracting her weapon back in the holster on her hip. She reached out her hand as her colleague held onto and steadily got back on her feet.

"You don't have to be so cocky about it." her colleague, known as Sven scoffed whilst rubbing a sore spot on his arse before stretching and patting her shoulder. Upon realizing the scenario, he immediately saluted to Cristopher and walked away, his defeat isn't really something new.

Cristopher gave a nod of acknowledgement towards Sven before heading over to where Crystal was.

She then stood on a perfect posture, shifting her weigh from one leg to another while placing one hand over her hip. While the other sways freely on her side. "You found someone?" she questioned, making her way to the bench where she kept her belongings.

She then took a bottle of water and thirstily drank half of it in a quick gulp. Sweat building up all over her skin from how extensive her training a few moments ago were.

Cristopher adverted his gaze from his best friend/companion before clearing his throat. "I have, get yourself cleaned up and we'll talk somewhere less hot." he spoke, fanning himself with his hand.

Crystal rolled her eyes and grabbed a towel, placing it over her shoulders before heading out along with him.

The journey back to the dormitories wasn't far. After all, Crystal is used to the kind of set up wherein Cristopher will discuss mission related information in her room where not much will be able to eavesdrop on whatever they'll be discussing. Especially if their discussion is confidential, and when they cannot be sure whether a mole will be around.

She entered her room whereas Cristopher followed after, closing the door securely after he entered. She took another clean towel and headed to the bathroom to freshen up while Cristopher arranged some documents in her desk, ready to be reviewed in proper order after.

"You know, it was really difficult to find a flesh that suits your preference. Since you're pickier than a real Young Missy." he commented whilst checking the files more accurately. Crystal walked out of her bathroom while pouting, she was already dressed into a fresh set of clothing after a quick bath, free from the reek of sweat. "Excuse me? I'm not." she replied on his comment, her eyes narrowing at his statement.

"Yes, you are." he spoke once more before moving the swivel chair in which he sat on aside and made way for her to examine his documents, in which she did.

She sat on her bed nest to the desk before picking up one file on the very top of the heap of papers. "Carmilla Rosette'?" she muttered, reading the bold letters on the very first page of the file. An image of a young, lively looking girl with raven black hair was on the center after the words.

To be precise, she sort of has some kind of resemblance with Crystal. Which must've been why she was chosen by Cristopher in the first place. The less obvious the better, they say.

"Same age as I am, huh." she mumbled under her breath, her eyes darting from every little information she come across with. A satisfied hum escaped her lips as her eyes left the endless blocks of words to gaze up on her partner. "Although her personality is completely the opposite of mine, her physical attributes fit mine very well." she stated after her brief review of the overall information that she has to keep in mind.

"You should be flexible, you know? Almost no noble Young Missy in this world could match your rebellious personality. The best I could find is someone who can match you physically. The rest? You have to manage it yourself." Cristopher stated, crossing his arms whilst lightly kicking on the ground to spin his swivel chair in a slow motion. "It's called; The Adjustment Period." he continued his statement a few moments after.

A sigh of annoyance left her lips as she flipped through the pages of the file in her hands. "Whatever." she mumbled under her breath and placed the file down before facing him with a leg over the other, her arms crossed.

"What?" he questioned after noticing her staring for quite some time.

She just raised a brow and flicked her tongue. "I don't have time to read, explain them all one by one." she commanded; her poise extracts the aura of complete authority over her friend who simply gave her a nonchalant look.

"Listen, I know you dislike her personality but you have to learn the term, 'adjusting' okay? Cause' I already did my part. And all I ask of you is to adjust to Carmilla's persona. Unless you want to jeopardize the mission which the boss tasked you of." he stated, slightly annoyed.

"Jeez, I'm not DEMANDING you, I'm ASKING you to TEACH me. Get it? I'm the type of person who would least care about these things that I have absolutely no idea on how to begin. That's why I'm asking you to teach me for crying out loud, isn't that YOUR job?" she retorted, emphasizing certain words as she stared over at her companion, who seems to give off a sigh of defeat.

"Fine, I'll start with the basics for now." he spoke after pushing his swivel chair in which he was seated towards the desk and randomly picks a file which he placed on the desk a while ago. He opened the file and darted his eyes over at the information which is presented to him.

Although it seemed so easy, it will be twice as hard as she thought it would be.

Leaving the comfort zone of one person is as difficult as telling that person to immediately get rid of his or her fear.

It was all surreal. To be the bride of the future CEO of VGC? It's going to be a hard task, especially when she knows nothing about the business empire.

That is, Crystal feared. That one day, she might get caught, and she might fail.

When she fails, it's over.

Her determination for revenge, gone.

It's only a matter of time until fate decides her destiny, like her brother was.
