Chapter Five

Kara stood speechless as she looked up into Dylan's face, one that she hoped like hell she didn't have to see again. She had to admit that he was still good looking for him to be twelve years older. She met him back when she was in college and that's where things took a turn for the worst.

"Kara, I miss you."

Kara had forgotten that she with Dray until he cleared his throat. She looked over at him and she saw the questions and confusion in his pretty eyes. She knew that she was going to have to explain the name as well as who this was.

"Dylan this is Draydon Maxwell, a friend of mine." She licked her lips nervously.

"I know who he is. In fact who doesn't. He is a well known business mogul and is a shark in the game." Dylan said snidely.

"Well too bad I never heard of you. That should explain a lot." Dray smirked pulling Kara into his side, intentionally rubbing up and down her side.

Dray watched as his eyes took in the gesture and he saw anger flash in his eyes. Dray wasn't a fool. He knew that this was someone she had something with at one point. Obviously he still felt something for her or either he was just obsessed.

"Look I don't want any trouble. Dylan it was nice seeing, but please don't contact me and stay the hell away from me. I have moved on with my life and you should too."

"Ah, so you have moved on with this ladies man. C'mon Kara don't be fooled. He isn't going to love you and he damn sure ain't going to stick around when he finds out your little secret." Dylan narrowed his eyes.

"I don't like pussy ass niggas and I sure as hell don't like ones that disrespect women. You happen to be disrespecting mine and if you don't want me to fuck you up; then I suggest you walk away before you roll away." Dray stood in front of Kara like a raging bull.

Dylan looked from Kara to Dray and stepped back. He gave Kara one last lingering stare before turning on his heels walking off. Dray looked down at Kara and she looked haunted. It was something about that nigga that didn't sit well with Dray. Apparently it didn't sit well with her either.

"You okay?" He caressed her cheek.

"Yeah." She said softly not looking at him.

He grabbed her hand. Instead of finishing their walk he led them back to his car. The walk back was silent. He knew that what happened back there was weighing on her mind. It was his as well. What was really weighing on his mind was her name being Kara. He knew that Beauty wasn't her real name although it fit her well.

Dylan didn't bother to start the car. He turned to Kara as he now knew was her real name. "Kara is your real name huh?" He stared at her side profile.

"Yes it is." She spared him a quick glance.

He caught her chin lifting it so that she could look in her eyes. "Who was he?" He searched her face and the look that crossed her beautiful face made him work the muscle in his jaw.

"My ex and that's all you need to know."

"Did he hurt you?" He asked sincerely.

"Dray I really don't want to talk about this. Can you just please take me to my car. I would really like to get home." A lone tear escaped, rolling down her cheek.

"Baby why are you crying?"

"No reason. Just take me to my car."

He moved back and started the car. He sighed as he pulled away from the parking lot. As he move through traffic his anger was slowly simmer. He didn't like fuck niggas like him. Niggas like him preyed on beautiful women and Dray knew that's exactly what happened.

There was so much about her that he didn't know, but he wanted...no needed to know everything about her. It was something so different about her and it wasn't her looks or the sway of her hips. It was something deeper all together. Instead of taking her to get her car he was taking her to his home. He didn't want her driving and he sure as hell didn't want her to be alone.

Dray knew that she would raise hell. He really didn't give a shit. For all she knew that jackass of an ex could be somewhere lurking and waiting for her. Dray knew that he had only known her for all of two days, yet he felt the need to be there for her. She needed somebody regardless if she admitted to him or not.

Dray turned onto a long, winding road that lead to a very upscale neighborhood. Kara turned her head swiftly, looking at Dray with an angry glare.

"Where the hell are you taking me?" She angrily folded her arms.

"To my place." He replied with and absent shrug of his massive shoulder.

"I am not sleeping with you!" She yelled with fire in her eyes.

Dray didn't respond. He continued to move is Jag around the block until he pulled up to his gate. He punched in a few numbers and the gates opened. He drove up the long circular driveway in deep concentration. He didn't know what kind of mean she was used to, but it was obvious she hadn't been a real man. All boys wanted to do was fuck and bust a nut, but a man wanted love and commitment.

Dray parked his car in his double garage. He looked over at Kara and she was pissed beyond measure. He lightly grabbed her arm making her look at him. "Listen to me Kara and listen to me good. If I wanted to sleep with you I would have made that know the first night I met you. I didn't bring you here to fuck. I brought you here because I didn't want you driving nor did I want you to be by yourself." He said in a steely voice.

She stared at him in utter shock. Kara didn't know what to say. She really didn't know how to take him. In the short time that she had known him, she realized he was different. He wasn't like any other man she had encountered. She sighed knowing that she owed him an apology.

"Dray, I'm sorry. I'm not used to someone genuinely caring. I'm so used to men wanting to sleep with me that I instantly assume that's what every man wants. Hell eventually you will."

"I'm not going to lie and say that I don't want you, but I am not a man that will push the issue or try to force you into something that you don't want or you not ready for. I a man with character and morals sweetheart."

He got out the car and helped her out. They walked to his door in silence as his hand rested where it always would, at the small of her back. He let her enter first and he followed suit. She looked around in the foyer and she gasped at the chandelier that was over head.

Dray's house was designed in modern European style. He fell in love with the look after being in Europe for about two months. He knew that he wanted something like this for his home and got it. He had a mixture of different art and sculptures adorning his home. Modern style, but very exquisite and expensive furniture sat throughout his home.

"You have a beautiful home?" Kara said in awe.

"Thank you. Let me give you a proper tour.

She nodded and let him lead the way. As they walked through he told her about different things within his home. She was impressed. What Kara couldn't understand is why did he have such a beautiful home and he lived here alone.

"Dray can I ask you a question?" She looked up at his tall frame.

"Shoot." He folded his muscular arms across his chest.

"Why do you have such a big house just for you?"

He rubbed his chin in thought as he thought about how he was going to answer that question. Dray decided to answer as truthfully as he knew how. "I like nice things and when I had this house designed this way I had in mind me and my future wife sharing this house. Hopefully I find her soon. In fact she might be closer than I think." He gave Kara a long linger stare.

Kara quickly turned away and ran her hands down the sides of her jeans. Dray was doing something to her and she didn't know if she liked that or not. There was a moment a silence and Dray broke it.

"Make yourself at home and I'm going to catch up on a little work. Oh and I'm still holding you to letting me borrow those business books that you have." He smiled revealing his dimples.

"Okay."

"I will be in my office downstairs if you need anything." He said as he turned heading back downstairs.

She nodded and walked into the guest room that he had showed her, which one of many. She looked around and took a seat on the edge of the bed. She was glad he hadn't ask to many questions, but she knew that it wouldn't be long because Dray was very analytical.  A yawn escaped and she decided that a little nap wouldn't hurt.

*****

Dray had been working on business proposals for the last couple of hours. His mind kept going to the beauty upstairs. She was afraid of something and he intended to find out what it was. One thing he was curious about was how she came to be an escort when apparently she had a lucrative job working with computers. A lot of shit wasn't adding up, but sooner a later he was going to find out if it were the last thing he did.
