Johnny Boy

Cas and Charlie woke up in Cas' bed. They stayed up longer than intended talking about the 'hiddlebooty' as Cas called it. Charlie however enjoyed talking about Black Widow's 'fine ass.'

They were literally each other's best friend.

Charlie woke up first and started jumping on the bed yelling, "Cas get your ass up! Get up! Get up! Get up!"

"Thanks, Charles, for the gentle and subtle wake up call."

"No problem, Cassie. Now come help me with breakfast. We slept in a little later so I guess it's cereal for breakfast today."

They walked into the kitchen together. Charlie pulled out bowls, while Cas picked the cereal.

Cas asked, "Lucky charms?"

"Ah yes, the gayest among the cereals."

"Charlie!"

"There's fucking rainbows in the cereal. Don't you deny it."

"This is true. Which reminds me. Better go put on Spongebob."

Charlie laughed, "It's not a morning in the Charlie and Cas household without Spongebob."

"Damn right."

They sat and ate until they had to get ready. This morning Charlie had dibs on the shower so Cas just changed and got ready. He wore a Marvel t-shirt, his leather jacket with skinny jeans, and his beanie. He packed up his bag and yelled to Charlie, asking if she was ready.

She yelled back, "Don't fucking rush me, kid."

"You sound just a little cranky there, Charles."

"I'm mad I hardly slept, but I did it for the black widow ass."

Cas started laughing as they met each other in the living room and left. Charlie stared at him and squinted, "Is that my shirt you're wearing?"

"Maybe..."

"You asshole. We may be close, but we don't share clothing."

"You wore my jeans last week, Charles. Like hell we don't share."

She rolled her eyes, "This is true."

On the way to school Cas was mentioning yesterday at the diner and about their waitress. Charlie just thought she was the best damn thing. "Did you get her number?"

"Um no. Why?"

"Damn. I'd want to meet this girl."

"You should. We could go there soon for you?"

She smiled, "Yes and you can bring Dean."

Cas mentally cheered in his head. They pulled up to his school. "Bye Charles," Cas said while exiting the car.

Charlie said, "Smell ya later bitch."

Cas laughed, swearing on his life that one day those would be her last words and she wouldn't even regret it.

Cas walked into the school and past the familiar faces, searching for the only one that mattered. He sat by Dean's locker until the bell rang. He waited for him in homeroom, but he never showed. During lunch Cas went to the bathrooms instead of eating and called Dean's cell phone, hoping he'd pick up.

There was no answer. All 28 times he called him it had gone to voicemail. Cas was even thinking about going to the office and asking for his address, but he knew they wouldn't give it to him.

He cried his way through the entire lunch period, worried and feeling sick. He ended up going to the nurse's office and calling Charlie when she didn't have class to pick him up. After waiting for awhile in the office for Charlie to sign him out, she came.

Charlie looked at him sympathetically and signed him out. Cas followed her to the car and they sat in silence inside the car for a few minutes. Cas spoke up, "Why are we waiting here?"

Charlie turned to him and looked him in the eyes, "Cas, you're never sick. Ever. What's bothering you?"

"Dean didn't show up to school today."

"Do you really have it that bad for the kid?"

"Charlie, it's not like that. I called him several times during lunch and there was no answer. Just the sound of his voicemail."

"Do you know his address?"

"Sadly, no."

Charlie sighed, "Well I'll get you home." She held the back of her hand to Cas' forehead. "It feels like you have a fever. I can't believe this whole situation has affected you this much."

She put the keys in ignition and drove down the street towards their house. Once they got home Charlie threw her keys on the table and told Cas, "Go lay down. I've already called in sick to my classes so I can take care of you. I'm going to make you some chicken noodle soup." During her talking, she was wetting a towel with warm water. "Put this on your forehead, Cassie."

He began saying, "I can't stay here. I have to find out if Dean is okay."

Charlie groaned, "You watch some Netflix and I'll make the soup when I get home."

"Where are you going?"

Charlie went on her laptop and began typing in a bunch of words. In less than two minutes, she was printing out a piece of paper. "I'm going to go find your little boyfriend. I just found his address from his license plate."

Charlie has always been great with computers. Cas said, "I have to go with you...."

She sighed, "You're sick."

"Please," Cas pleaded.

Charlie rolled her eyes, "Get in the car." As they walked out Charlie said to him, "You're going to owe me big time for this. Like that cute waitress' number."

Cas was eagerly getting into the car, "Yeah of course, anything."

As she drove down the street she said, "I don't understand what's your deal with him. You just started talking to him yesterday?"

"I don't know. He just means a lot to me. He's different."

She nodded while looking down at the address and taking a right. Cas typed in the address in the GPS on his phone. He told Charlie each direction to take until they had reached a big yellow house, surrounded by similar houses, but with a different color.

Cas walked up the steps and knocked on the door. The door slowly creaks open and Dean peeks his head through the gap. Once Dean realizes it is Cas he swings the door open and hugs him tightly. Cas noticed Dean was wearing his sweatshirt, which made him smile.

Cas walks inside, "Why aren't you at school? Or answering my calls?"

Dean walks into the light made by the window beside the door, to reveal all of the cuts and bruises that appeared upon his body. Cas began sobbing, "W-what happened?"

Dean walked over to the door to close and lock it, "John happened. My father. He didn't particularly like the fact I came home late last night and didn't do any of my chores. He's a mean drunk, let me tell you. Sadly, he is at the bar now. And-"

Their voices were cut off by the roaring of a truck pulling into the driveway. Dean swallowed hard, "You gotta get out of here, Cas. He won't hesitate to hurt you too."

Cas shook his head, "I can't just leave you here... Come with me."

The door started to unlock. Dean looked Cas straight in the eyes, "Cas, go! Now!"

Cas ran out the back door just as the front door swung open. John's heavy boots hit the wooden floors, "Was that voices I heard? In my house?"

"No, sir."

John backhanded Dean, causing Dean to fall to the ground, "Don't lie to me, boy."

Cas saw the whole thing, peeking through the window. He cried more and ran to the closest person, which was the neighbors house. Charlie had drove somewhere else down the street, probably as soon as John pulled up. Cas knocked vigorously on the door. The neighbor came to the door, "What? Where's the fire?"

"Hi my name's Cas. Can you please please help me?"

"My name is Maddy, what can I help you with, darling?"

"My friend...he's uh getting beaten by his father next door and I can't do anything to help him!"

Maddy gestured for him to come inside. She was in her low twenties it seemed. She quickly pulled out the phone book, searching for a number. She pointed it out to Cas, "Here. That's child's services. Call them right now. You can use my phone."

"But he's getting beat, right now!"

She nodded, looking through a cabinet, "I always knew John was an ass and he had been doing this to his son."

She pulled out a frying pan from her cabinet, "Ah this'll do."

Cas stared at her in shock. She said, "What are you waiting for? Go call the number now!"

She stormed out of the house with her frying pan at hand and walked over to the Winchester estate. She knocked on their door, waiting for an answer. John opened the door, yelling, "What the hell do you want, bitch?!"

Maddy immediately swung the frying pan across his face. It was enough to knock him out, but not kill him. Although, she really wanted to kill him at this point in the most torturous way possible. She told Dean to pack a bag and he ran up the stairs to do so. Once Dean had came downstairs with a bag she took him back to her house.

"You can spend the night here, Dean. I'm going to report child abuse to the police and explain what happened. You may be questioned. Cas did you call the number?"

Cas shook his head, "I was too focused on watching what you were doing to do so, but Dean can just spend the night at my house."

"I'm not sure if he should-"

Dean cut her off, "Can I please just spend the night at Cas'?"

She thought for a moment. "You're going to be questioned by tomorrow though. I'll just say you aren't available for questioning right now. John will be taken into custody by the police, hopefully."

She hugged him tightly, "I thought this was happening to you... Thanks to Cas for telling me."

Cas nodded and to change the mood he asked, "So did you really take that pan and knock the shit out of John?"

She laughed, "I've wanted to do that ever since he moved into the neighborhood."

Dean had even laughed too in between fits of crying. Cas checked his phone, "My sister is outside as we speak, so we will be going back home."

Maddy nodded, "Write your number down on this," she handed him a piece of paper and pen. "Stay safe and I'm going to report this for Dean as soon as you leave."

They started leaving and Dean stopped before shutting the door. He said to Maddy, "Thank you for doing that for me. I could never have stood up for myself like that."

She smiled and nodded as Dean waved goodbye. He got into the car with Cas and Charlie drove off. She tried to make small talk, "So what happened exactly?"

Cas intervened, "I'll tell you another time."

She nodded, "Let's go home and I'll make some chicken noodle soup for the both of you. It looks like you both have had a long day."

Dean stared out the window. It felt like he could breathe again. Like he wasn't being choked, beaten, or hit with various objects. Charlie seemed like she was a caring girl, reminded him a little bit of his mom. He missed her. She was always sweet and caring, his dad couldn't even compare. He was so full of hatred for some reason. His mom believed it was for not being given a father growing up himself.

Dean would have been better off without a father.
