Chapter 8

Chapter 8- I will get her back
Radhika stopped after walking for a while. Tears she had been holding on for so long made its way down her cheeks. She did want to go back running into his arms. But, she didn't. She did want to check on him. And she had the right idea for that. And her wolf loved her for that. They were going to see their mate again.
"Invisique" she whispered.
The moment she chanted the spell, she turned invisible. Her uncle Samrat had taught her some basic witch spells that would help her when needed. He had taught her spells that could be used by all. And he trusted her. He knew that she would never misuse the spells that were taught to her. She was a grown, responsible adult.
Her lips curled up in a smile as she walked back to the spot where she had left him. The leaves crunching under her feet were not heard. She walked and was stunned to see him standing right there. It looked like he had frozen. He had not moved an inch from the spot. Her heart broke for him as she felt his pain. It hurt her more as she was the cause for the pain. She walked further and stood close. Their bodies almost touching. She walked around him and her fingers brushed against the skin on his back. Arjun's skin tingled at the touch.
His head snapped up "Radhika?" he called out with hope.
He turned around, looked around to see if she was there. His head dropped when he couldn't spot her. He sniffed a little to try and locate her scent, but couldn't find it. But, she was right there. Right in front of him. The cloaking spell covered scents of all supernatural beings.
Her heart broke for the millionth time as she watched his eyes lose the twinkle. She just wanted to hug and kiss him for eternity. Her fingers brushed against his chest and his hand reached out to touch her. He felt it, but she was not there. He was now sure that he had lost it. He had lost his sanity.
"I love you my mate" she whispered, stroking his cheek gently.
He reached out again. His hope to try and catch her did not leave. His eye frantically searched for her. It was all like his dream. All the other times when he had felt her touch.
"I love you so much more Radhika" he whispered.
He walked away sad and this time, it was she who was left back. She watched as his tall, large form disappeared from her sight. She sighed, walking back home, still invisible.
Arjun walked back all disappointed to his mansion. Dia who had woken up a while ago due to the side effects of the medication had gone up to Arjun's room to check if he was back. But, he had not.
"Maybe, he met Radhi. I hope things are good" she prayed.
She pulled out her phone to call her brother, walking to the hall. She looked at the number of calls from Veer, which most of them were answered. She heaved a sigh of relief. She was glad that her family had taken care of things when she was resting. She then frowned seeing no calls from him. Maybe Radhika would have told him about her migraines. She heaved another sigh of relief. Heavy footsteps made her look up and saw her brother walk in lifeless. It looked like thousands of leeches had sucked the blood out of his system.
Oh, you could call him a zombie. No, Frankenstein sounded better. He looked so pale. Hours back, he was all excited, happy.
Now, what happened to him?
She walked towards Arjun, but when he turned around, she stood rooted to her spot. He had a bottle of whiskey in his hand. His tear stained cheeks.
He was crying!
It was all like a dream. It was the first time, after four years he looked so vulnerable. After his mother's death, he had masked himself to be the heartless and ruthless Alpha. The alcohol was a distraction, but he grew addicted to it. His relationships were a distraction too, but it meant nothing to him. He was so broken that he didn't see it coming. Whatever he had done to prove himself had gone in vain. All his hard work. His kindness. Everything in the drain.
He gave her a sad smile, wiped his tears with the back of his free hand and made way to his room with great difficulty, sipping the contents of the bottle. Staggering every second. Dia ran to him and held him with the arm that was not on a cast and supported him. She pulled him back as she watched the bottle slip out of his grip and crash to the floor, shattering into countless number of pieces. She looked down at his foot and made sure he was alright. She was least bit concerned about herself. All that mattered now was her brother and no one else. Nothing else mattered at that moment. She pulled him upstairs to his roll that was on the second floor with so much difficulty. She could have done it as if it was a left hand's game. But, now that one arm was broken, struggling was the only key. She was wheezing by the time she kicked open the door to his room and helped him lay down on the bed. She covered him up and ran her fingers through his messy, disheveled hair and then patted his head as she watched him slowly drift to sleep. When she was about to leave, his palm on her wrist, stopped her.
"Why am I hated so much? Why can't anyone love me?" he asked in a pained voice.
"Bhai?!" she exclaimed in shock. He was so hurt.
"Why does Radhika hate me? I love her. I love her so much" he whispered all pained.
"Bhai?!" she just looked on. She didn't know what to say.
"I love her. I love my mate. We love our mate so much" he whispered. This time it sounded gruff. It was his wolf talking.
"Alpha!" she gasped.
"We need our mate" he slurred.
"You'll get her" she said, her voice devoid of emotions.
"How?" he asked.
"Cause I know" she replied.
"Will she love me?" he asked.
"She will" she nodded.
"How do you know?" he asked.
"Cause I'm her best friend" she replied.
"She's my everything Choti. I need her. Please help me" he sobbed. It was his human talking now.
"I can't do anything bhai. It's all your fault. You insulted her. You were so rude. You were a playboy. You're the rude, heartless, ruthless human being. Well human to the world. But a really disappointing werewolf. Very disappointing one" she said.
"Am I really that bad? So, you were just smiling and bearing me for name sake? You too hate me. Everyone hates me. Even Neil" he spoke all hurt.
"Bhai, I didn't mean it" she stuttered.
She really did regret for letting out those words. She had meant them. She had kept it to herself all these years. He was a hardworking and worthy Alpha. But he really did do some blunders that affected the pack and no one dared to talk to him about it.
"It's alright. I deserve it. Anything else?" he smiled weakly.
"Bhai, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it. I really didn't. It just happened. Aarrgghh.... how did this happen?" she cried as she gripped her head tight.
"Where's Neil?" he asked.
"With Sam. He can't keep away from her. You knew can't he from now" she replied.
"At least he is happy. Let him live happily. Let him not be alone like me" he said as he settled himself more into the bed.
"But bhai...." Dia started off, but stopped when he turned the lights off.
"Good night Dia" he mumbled as sleep took over.
She now felt bad. She hurt him. When he was already hurt. Rejected by the one he loved the most. She was now the bad guy.
He had never called her Dia. It was either princess or Dee or Choti. She walked out all sad with tears and right after, the servant walked into his room with a bottle of alcohol.
"Radhi please don't give up on my brother" she whispered as tears trickled down.
Arjun woke up in the morning with a heavy head. He gripped his head tight and looked around. Where was his bottle of alcohol? He scowled when he looked at the empty bottle of scotch at the other end of the bed. He scowled again, getting off the bed, still gripping his head.
"Kiku my bottle of scotch!" he screamed in pure anger.
It was the poor lad's responsibility to make sure that Arjun woke up looking at his bottle of fine expensive scotch. The boy in his late teens came in running with the big green transparent bottle, carved with fine designs filled with the brown liquid.
"Here you are Alpha" he said with his head bowed down.
Arjun threw the cap God knows where and gulped down the liquid as he looked at Kiku with anger. Kiku feared but put on a normal face on the outside. He knew it was going to be his last. He had filled Arjun's room with the bottles, but they ran out in the blink of an eye. He was drinking so much. Dia came in running with a glass of lemon juice and some aspirins. She had heard Arjun's scream from his room that had her panicked. She knew he'd have a hangover in the morning. But, this was too much.
Liquor early in the morning.
Without brushing.
She saw Kiku shivering in fear with every second ticking by.
"Kiku leave" she commanded.
Kiku heaved a sigh of relief, giving a gratitude filled smile to Dia and walked out of the room as soon as he could so that he could escape Arjun's anger.
"Hello baby sister" he mocked as he sipped on.
"You didn't brush you jerk" she scowled.
"Like I care. Why do you care?" he taunted.
Dia's eyes welled up. He was getting worse. She was wrong. She knew it. She shouldn't have spoken to him like that when he was drunk and on top of it, hurt. She was here to apologize.
"Arjun is this the way to talk to Choti?" a manly voice echoed from behind.
Dia turned around to see Neil with Sam. She nodded in negative, gesturing him to stop. She didn't want Arjun to insult Neil. He was too drunk. Neil gritted his teeth and balled his fists as he saw his baby sister holding back her tears. He walked forward and wrapped an arm around her and gave her a gentle arm hug, making sure not to hurt her fractured part. Sam stood behind, not able to predict what was going to happen. With Arjun in anger, anything could happen. She had to keep herself and her babies safe.
"I came here to apologise. For yesterday" Dia hissed in between tears "and you have a Pack meeting in the next twenty minutes" she said as she composed herself, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.
Arjun almost spat out the contents of the liquid in his mouth as he heard the word "meeting". He looked at Neil and Dia.
How did he forget? How could he?
"Damn" he muttered to himself as he raked his fingers through his hair.
"Give me ten minutes" he said as he put his bottle down and rushed towards the washroom.
"First take the lemonade and aspirins" Neil snapped.
Arjun looked at his Beta, who was also his brother. But now, he looked like neither. He was just Dia's brother and was angry at him for not treating his sister well. He drank the lemonade and sallowed the aspirins and sprinted to the bathroom.
"What made him get angry on you?" Neil asked after Arjun was nowhere in sight.
"I scolded him. Blamed him for what he is today. He was already hurt. Radhika rejected him" she whispered, hurt clearly visible in her eyes.
"I don't think she rejected him" Sam spoke.
"How can you say that?" she asked.
"He'd be in terrible pain for days. Not like this" Sam shrugged.
"You were right. Don't blame yourself" Neil smiled, brushing his sister's cheek gently.
"Will you love me the same way even after you and Sam have your pups?" she whispered, burying her face buried in her brother's chest.
"Why you doubting on that?" he asked as he detached her face from his chest "you'll always be my first priority. Even after I have my pup" he smiled as he wiped her tears away.
"You should never doubt on Neil Chandra Mehra" Sam smiled as she walked forward and stood next to Neil.
"I love you both so much" she squealed and pulled their cheek one at a time.
"Ouch" she winced.
"You really need to stop jumping around" Sam frowned as she touched Dia's fractured arm.
"I'm okay. And you need to stop healing. Don't exhaust yourself. I'll heal in a few days" she smiled. But that was not her real smile.
"And..." the couple looked at each other "we love you too. More" they both said in unison.
Dia grinned as she just stared at them. She was so lucky to have them. She wanted to jump around and dance in happiness, but she couldn't. They heaved a sigh of relief and winked at each other. She smiled. They had changed her mood.
"What about me?" they heard Arjun and turned around to look at him as he stood, little away with his arms folded to his chest.
"Ummm..." Dia dragged on as she looked up the ceiling as if thinking of something.
"You're two minutes late" Sam smirked.
"What?" he asked, confused.
"Yes. You took twelve minutes" she said as she showed the time on her mobile.
"Damn" he frowned.
"Now, shall we move?" Neil interrupted.
"Yes, we'll catch up. Give us a moment" he said as he looked at Dia.
"What do you have to talk to me?" Dia asked as she looked in the direction of Sam and Neil walking away.
"I'm sorry Choti. About last night" he sighed.
"Can we move? It's late already" she said and started to walk towards the door.
"Choti please" he pleaded.
Dia turned to see his pale form. He looked terrible, hurt and guilty. Yet, bearable.
"Just try to be a bit kind" she shrugged.
"Am I forgiven?" he asked, hope lacing his voice.
"Yes" she sighed "it's late. Can you get your feet moving?" she snapped.
"A hug. Please" he smiled, opening his arms wide.
She smiled as she walked to him and he gave her a gentle hug. He didn't want to hurt her. It was the first time she was hurt so much and he hated it that he could do nothing to take the pain away. His chin rested in her head as he ran his fingers through her long, smooth hair. She rubbed his back with her free had to calm him. She knew he was going through a lot. It was too overwhelming. He was hit by a whirlwind of emotions. Arjun pulled away and planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Now we have a meeting to attend" she smiled and patted his cheek.
"Oh yes. Meeting" he nodded and they walked out of the house with a smile.
"I promise you, I'll get her. I'll get her back" he said as he held his sister's hand.
"I know you will" she smiled.
"Ooh. And it's going to be my first official Pack meeting. And I'm so excited!" she jumped and tried hard to match the steps of her tall brother.
"No, don't jump. I'll slow down" he said and slowed down his walking pace.
"Thanks a ton" she grinned.
"The meeting will be good. But you need to be careful of every word and all decisions you take" her brother spoke in a serious tone.
"I'll be fine. Thanks Alpha" she smiled.
"It's just Bhai for you" he pulled her cheek.
With that, both the cousins smiled a mischievous smile and walked further towards the Pack House.
