Chapter 7
The cottage was filled with the smoke of incense. It smelled good. But it smothered their senses and irritated their lungs. Edmund and Matthew sat on two stools placed by the window's that were unfortunately closed.
Karu was placed on a large, flat, rock that was placed right in the middle of the room. Edmund tried not to think of what its real purpose was. He did spot smatterings of dark brown at the foot of the rock, but he refused to think it was dried blood.
The oldest witch bent over Karu, peering at her chest.
"She was cursed, you say?"
"Yes."
She started cackling. "Nay. It ain't a curse but a blessing of the Moon Goddess. Let it be and you shall see."
He hated it that they spoke so cryptically. Would it kill them to be more clear?
"What do you mean? You want us to let it spread?"
She suddenly looked away and walked off to sprinkle more herbs into the fire. Edmond waited expectantly for her to be done. But she continued on as if she had forgotten him.
"Upon her rising, your fire will cease." The middle aged witch whispered from the shadows.
"What do you mean?"
"We cannot say." The youngest spoke.
"Why not?"
"We shan' t meddle with the Moon Goddesses plan." The three of them spoke the words like a chant.
Well that a rather short chapter but I like it. Lol. P.s. Don't forget to vote and comment! =D
