16 ◉A Girl like a Thunderstorm
Haider worked on his design, desperately trying to distract himself from thoughts of Alina. Just then, he heard loud screeching voices.
'I am sorry, but you can't go.' A manly voice, he recognized as the receptionist came from outside his cabin.
'Ya, Allah! Are you deaf I said I need just a few minutes of your boss? I am sure he can spare that.' A young woman screamed. Haider cringed at the tone.
'And we said no.' The watchman's voice could be heard next.
'No one asked you.'
'Security throw her out.'
'You dare touch me; I will call the cops.'
'Wow! You are threatening us. We should be the ones calling the cops.'
'Ahh! Leave me, you villain. I just need one mo—'
Haider opened the door and slightly raised one arm, - 'What the hell is going on?' He raised and dropped his shoulders. The watchman paused mid-way whilst scooping a petite girl as she jumped on the spot. She tugged down her baggy peach sweatshirt, pulled up the sleeves till her elbow, and threw back the hoodie that fell on her head during the struggle.
'Hello, sir.' She huffed, pushing back her over-sized glasses and moving away the long side bangs of her pixie haircut. She grabbed the file from the ground and hurried to him. Haider noticed dirt on her white, with blue printed, sneakers and cringed. The girl forwarded her hand, - 'I am Amaal Jaffery, sir. And I will take,' – she pinched her thumb and index finger, - 'very little of your time.' She said, still a bit breathless. Haider wanted to refuse but then she kept looking at him with her lower lip stuck out and hopeful large green eyes. He sighed and nodded stepping aside.
'Yaay!' She jumped taking everyone including Haider by surprise. Looking around, she bit her tongue and muttered a "sorry."
'Okay, Miss. Jaffery.' Haider sat behind his chair. Amaal took her seat but kept looking at him with bright eyes. She cleared her throat and forwarded him a file.
'Mr. Zaidi, I—'
'Call me Mr. Minhas or just Sir.' Haider interrupted sharply. Amaal was taken aback by his rude tone. She blinked pushing back her glasses with both her hands.
'Okay, sir! I and my aunt work for an orphanage and old home. We combine both the services.' – Haider opened the file and flipped through a few lamented and normal pages, - 'here are all the details and everything about our venture. And a copy of all my details as well. Sir, I have come here for a donation.' – She gave a thoughtful pause and then continued, - 'My brother works in your company and he has only wonderful things to say about you.' She finished speaking.
Haider looked at her with an eyebrow raised, - 'wonderful things.' He muttered to himself, then lowered his gaze looking into the documents. Amaal gulped while watching him, she restlessly shifted her seat.
'Sir, our main branch is in Mussoorie. I and my aunt stay there and operate the rest of the branches. I needed donations for—'
'Who is your brother working here?' Haider interrupted again. Amaal zipped her mouth for a moment and then replied,
- 'Mikael Jaffery.'
Haider nodded, realization dawning upon, - 'Oh, Jaffery.' He opened the top drawer and took out a check. Amaal's eyes widened watching him sign a blank check. He passed the check to her. Her jaw dropped looking at it.
'What is this? Blank check.' She blinked at him. The thick winged eyeliner intensified her almond green eyes. Haider nodded leaning against his chair.
'I know you Jaffery siblings. Everyone in the business circle knows about your father Hashim Jaffery.' He said but doesn't notice Amaal's change of expressions, it was for a milli-second. She forwarded the check back to him.
'Sir, neither me nor Mikael want you to treat us special because of our—father.'
Haider was taken aback by her reaction. He was surprised, also angered as she rejected his gesture. No one rejects him. He stood up with a force pushing back his chair. Quickly, he exhaled deeply and held his hip with one hand and forehead with the other. Amaal doesn't flinch and kept staring at him while still being seated. Haider looked at her with his eyebrows furrowed,
- 'What are you looking at, Ms. Jaffery.' He said in exasperation.
Amaal blinked at him and stood up, - 'I am sorry, I just got carried away.' – her droopy lips curved into a slight smile, - 'Subhan Allah, you are so much more handsome in real life than on TV screen or pages of magazines.' She commented unabashedly, knocking out Haider.
'What?' He exclaimed while looking at her in disbelief. Was this woman mental? So childish, moody, carefree, and tomboyish. Everything Haider hates in a woman.
Amaal closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened her eyes, - 'Sir if you want to make a donation. I would like to invite you to the branch we have here. I am here for two weeks.' She opened her sling bag and fished out a business card and placed it on his desk along with a photo of her.
'You are famous, and I am not. So, here is a photo of me. And sir,' – She paused and smirked, - 'I know I am pretty, so try to not stare at me or fall in love with me. Though I wish you would.' She grinned cheekily at him.
Haider blinked at her in utter confusion. Swiftly and almost tripping, she turned around and dashed out of the cabin. Just how she had come like breeze or best like a thunderstorm.

Alina walked past the cafeteria and stopped upon seeing Mikael talking to someone. A petite girl whose back faced Alina. She squinted her eyes and noticed him hold her hand for a moment, tapping at the back of her palm and then withdraw his hand.
Who is she? – Alina wondered. Quickly, she smoothed her red bodycon and walked inside the cafeteria. She stopped at the table and cleared her throat. Mikael looked at her and smiled,
- 'Hey!'
Alina's gaze fell on the women in front of him and her face lit with an instant smile, - 'Hi, Amaal.' She greeted her. Amaal smiled back and greeted her with a wave. She insisted her to grab a chair and sit with them. Alina was reluctant but after Mikael requested, she agreed. They passed a smile at each other. At first, she felt odd one out with the siblings, but they made her comfortable.
Haider walked with Banerjeebehind him on his toes, trying to match his pace and two bodyguards followingthem closely. Mindlessly, he looked up and found Mikael and Alina, from whatwas visible to him, chatting and having food. He doesn't react and passed bythe cafeteria. Everything Banerjee said after that got muffled.
Amaal Jaffery,
Okay, Haider. Not fair, to one girl you are like "Call me, Haider" and to the other one you are being so rude? What justice?
Also, how is the character of Amaal, my lovelies? I keep wondering what role does she have to play, besides annoying Haider, of course, *giggles* *giggles* And, and, and, why Alina you are bothered if Mikael talks to a girl *smirk* * raises eyebrows* OMG, Haider saw them. What will he do *gasp*
Drop your thoughts in the comments, guys *muaah* *muaaah* and Stay tuned for the next update *kisses and hugs*
