PART TWO: Chapter 14 - Acacia
Grayson was right.
There were many things that needed our immediate attention when we arrived home. So much so, that we had barely made it through the front door before we were bombarded by Levi, Bentley and Noah. It didn't matter that it was almost midnight and I was drowsy from having awkwardly slept in the car or that Grayson had been driving for over six hours. They needed us. Questions about border patrol, rogues seeking refuge, and a neighbouring pack needing assistance, amongst other things.
I guess that's what happens when the Alpha and Luna leave the pack for a few days, even if it was just to reunite with my family. In fact, I'd been so consumed by the reunion that I had forgotten that the whole pack relies on us. Well, Grayson. Not so much me yet, I don't exactly know what I am doing. But I'll get there.
My mother was also right. Grayson's family had come over the next day, after we had finally gotten some rest and Rosaleen - who insisted on me calling her Rose - had immediately started telling me about my role as Luna and showing me the ropes and around the territory.
It had been rather confusing at first, but I slowly seem to be getting the hang of it.
Bella and Beckett had tagged along whilst their mother had shown me around the place too, saying something about wanting to make sure I was extra safe. Part of me thinks that Grayson might have said something to them, however, for the most part, I think that they just really wanted to hang out with me.
I didn't mind, of course. I love spending time with them and it had been a while since we had seen each other, so it was nice. Although, Beckett had seemed a bit off the entire time which concerned me. I had even quietly pulled Bella aside for a moment after we had finished the tour of the territory to ask her if she knew what was up with Beckett. She had said that he had been fine before and that she didn't know what was wrong but she had noticed it too and would try and figure it out.
It had been such a whirlwind coupe of days, and between helping Grayson run the pack and learning how to be Luna, I hadn't even gotten a chance to sit down with him and talk about everything that has happened.
I'm really hoping that we might get a chance to talk tonight though, now that things are starting to settle down again. Especially about the miscarriage and what our future might look like, because it's not like we've ever actually had the kids talk and-
"Acacia?" Teresa asks gently, breaking me from my thoughts. "You zoned out, is everything okay?"
"Y-yeah, j-j-ju-u-st th-thi-ink-king" I stutter, forcing a smile onto my face. She frowns back at me before wiping the gel off my lower abdomen.
"Well, your body looks like it has successfully passed all the tissue from the miscarriage. However, I would advise waiting until after your next period to start trying again, if that is something you and Grayson are wanting to do..."
"Th-tha-ank y-you, Te-r-re-sa." She nods with a small smile before turning back to the screen in front of her and writing some notes.
I watch her silently for a moment, thoughts stewing in my head.
"Te-re-e-sa" I blurt out before I can stop myself.
"Yes, love?" she asks turning to face me once again, holding my gaze. I shiver slightly, before pushing on.
"I-I th-th-i-ink I w-wa-ant t-to g-ge-t-t s-som-me h-help."
"Help? Like therapy?"
I nod as a look of compassion washes over her face.
"I just, I don't want to be scared anymore," I sign, suddenly feeling the need to explain myself. "I want to be able to live my life, without my past haunting me all the time and I-"
"You don't have to explain yourself, Acacia," she starts, interrupting me. "I understand and that can most certainly be arranged. Would you like to see someone within the pack, or would you like to see a different psychotherapist from outside?"
"Ummm, probably someone outside the pack, I think. Although I would like to talk to Grayson about it all first and just double check."
"Of course."
"And I think I would like to continue my speech therapy, and possibly look at doing some schooling?" I sign, with a tentatively hopeful smile. "The twins had mentioned something whilst on our tour of the territory and we visited the pack school and it just made me think about all the things I've missed out on and I would like to learn."
"Acacia, you don't-"
"I know. But I want to do this for me. I want to be the best Luna possible and I can't do that if I always feel like I'm behind..."
"I know, love. It's okay, we can get something sorted out for you if that's truly what you want. Just know that the pack has your back and loves you no matter what."
"Th-tha-ank y-you" I stutter with a smile as hope and determination fills me.
Now I just have to talk to Grayson...
