Ugh. Fuck!

It's been a whole fucking month since she went missing and we still haven't found her.

I want Acacia back.

I growl, standing up forcefully from my chair to pace around my office. How was she even able to get away in the first place?!

My wolf lets out a low growl but I ignore him. My guess is that another pack has found her and is lying to my men about it?

Ugh, I fucking hate packs.

I love being a rogue leader because it means no stupid packs, no silly mates, and no egotistical alphas running the damn show.

I can steal any girl I want when I want but there was something about her that made me want her and only her.

Maybe it was because she reminded me of my mate. But then again, I hated that bitch. Hence why I rejected and killed her. She was holding me down anyway.

I want Acacia back.

Suddenly, a guard walks into the room, bowing his head in respect.

"What" I grunt, angrily.

"We still can't find her, Sir," he says sternly.

"Fuck! Where the hell could she be?!" I roar, my wolf taking over.

"We don't know! We've looked everywhere. None of the packs we've been to say they have seen her but her scent is everywhere. Surely she must be alive if her scent is still fresh?"

"True and she can't hide forever," I say, thinking to myself.

"I want patrols doubled," I say, glaring at the guard.

"But Sir, we lost most of our men in the war the other week, we have no more men left. All of us are on patrol already" he whines back.

I glare at him and he glares back.

"Plus, we've been on patrol every day and night for the past month and we haven't found this stupid girl of yours so why don't you just give up already?"

Enraged, I ball my fist and square him straight in the jaw. He groans as a laugh rumbles out from my chest.

"What the fuck was that for?!" he yells at me, eyes blazing.

"That was for complaining" I grunt back.

He growls and lets out a string of curse words as he rubs his jaw.

"Get back to work," I say, glaring at him.

"But we're exhausted, Sir. If you don't give us a break then you may soon find that you have no men left at all."

I glare at him before punching him again. He groans as he hits the floor causing me to laugh again.

"God. If you want something done, you've gotta do it yourself," I spit before stepping over him and heading towards the door. I hear him groan again and I turn around to watch him.

He makes it onto his hands and knees, glaring at me, blood running from his face.

"You babies can have the week off. Oh, and find us some more rogues while you're at it, seeing as you think numbers are down" I growl before strolling out the door.

I make my way down the hall into the lounge to find Ryker and Jack sitting on the couch watching TV. I let out a whistle and they turn to look at me.

"Boys" I grunt at them, watching as they exchange looks with each other before looking at me.

"What," Ryker asks in a bored tone.

"Our men have still not found her."

"Cool. What's new?"

"I want her back."

"We know. You tell us that every day and then every day we never find her. Why don't you just give up? There are plenty of perfectly good bitches you can have, you know" Jack replies smugly.

I glare at him and I receive an eye roll in return.

"I'm not stopping till I find her" I continue, narrowing my gaze.

"Cool. Now if you don't mind, we were watching TV" Ryder says before turning the volume up.

Annoyed, I snatch the remote off him and turn the TV off. He glares at me and I grin.

"Now, you're not. Now you are going to help me find Acacia."

"And if we don't?" Jack challenges.

"If you don't then consider yourselves kicked out. Consider yourselves lone rogues."

"Ugh, fine. Whatever. We'll help you find this stupid girl of yours."

"Good. That's what I like to hear."

"So where do we start, boss man?" Jack asks before yawning.

"Where it all started. The cells. I wanna figure out how she even got out."

The boys nod and follow me as we make our way down to the cells.

We get there and I make my way over to her cell. I stare at it for a moment before walking up to the bars. I carefully inspect everything before something clicks.

She just walked out.

There's no damaged lock or bars. No sign of blood. No sign of anything and the day she went missing was the same day a war happened.

She just walked out.

Who the fuck was on patrol down here when the war broke out?!

I turn around and glare at Ryker and Jack.

"What?" Ryker asks, staring at me, unfazed.

"Who was on patrol in the cells when that war broke out?" I ask, pissed off.

"Ummm, Craig I think. Why?" Jack replies confused.

"That motherfucker" I swear under my breath. "Get him down here now" I growl, anger rolling off me in waves. Ryker nods and leaves the room before returning five minutes later with a very confused-looking Craig.

"Zane," he says, bowing his head. I take this opportunity to punch him square in the jaw.

He groans and swears, looking up at me with anger and confusion as he holds his jaw.

"You let her out!" I roar at him.

"Excuse me?"

"You were on duty the day that stupid war broke out! You let the girl escape!"

He looks at me in shock, guilt flashes past his eyes. He knows exactly what I'm talking about.

"I-"

"You what, huh?!"

"I went to give her the daily injection and to beat her up like you had told me to, when the war broke out. You called for backup so I forgot about her and ran to help fight. I swear I shut all the doors. I'm sorry Zane."

"My ass you're sorry! You knew your one job was to guard her! Why did you stop?!"

"Because you asked for backup..."

"Yes but you're not the only backup there is, are you?!"

"Well no but-"

"If you had half a brain, you'd know to stay back and guard her, not run and let her fucking escape. You gave her the cleanest getaway ever!"

"I-"

"All the doors left unlocked and wide open by you, you pathetic moron!" 

"No, I swear I didn't. The cell door maybe, but the others... I swear it wasn't me... maybe someone else left them open?"

"Who else? Name them and it might just save your life," I growl at him expectantly.

"I, umm, I... well, I think Rh-"

I watch as he tries to answer but comes up short. I chuckle before looking at the boys.

"Kill him," I say in a dark tone.

"But Zane-" Jack protests but I cut him off.

"Kill him or I kill you" I growl, before storming out of the room.

I will find you, Acacia. Even if it's the last thing I do and once I have you, you bet your life that I'm never letting you go!

I make my way down the hall slowly, trying to visualise what Acacia would have done. I walk back into the office and look around.

There are two doors leading out of the office. One leading to a hall and one leading outside.

I sniff around both doors and eventually pick up Acacia's faded scent around the door leading to outside.

I can't believe Craig left that door open too?!

Goddammit! What an absolute idiot!

I rip open the door and a gust of wind rushes past me. In front of me is the edge of the field that connects to the forest.

I scan the area and sniff the air, trying to find her scent. I walk outside and head towards the forest. Suddenly, her scent catches my attention and I follow it to a tree just past the start of the forest line. It's faint but I can tell she was here.

"Ryker. Jack. Are you finished?" I ask, mind-linking them.

"Yes," Jack replies flatly.

"Then come. We've got a girl to find."

After a few moments, Ryker and Jack are by my side, looking as bored as ever but I don't give a crap at this point. I roll my eyes and walk deeper into the forest, following Acacia's faint scent as the boys trail behind me.

We walk for what seems like half an hour before her scent becomes really strong. I look around but don't see anything out of the ordinary. I sniff around and soon discover that the scent is coming from the ground.

Confused, I get on my hands and knees and brush around in the leaves and undergrowth until I find a patch of loose dirt. I begin to dig and instantly find a scrap of fabric.

I continue to dig and begin to find whole handfuls of fabric that smell like Acacia. Then it dawns on me.

These scraps of fabric were the rags she was wearing. She must've shifted causing them to rip off her tiny body. Smart girl for hiding them.

I growl annoyed and stand back up again, brushing myself off.

"She shifted. Those were her rags" I grunt.

"So now what?" Ryker asks, a hint of curiosity in his voice.

"Now, we follow her scent and see where it takes us."

"But didn't the guards already do that?"

"Yes but chances are they did a once over and then gave up."

"True. So where do we start?"

"Here. Let's go back and pack some stuff boys because we may be on the run for a while."

"Sweet but who will be in charge of the rest of those goons while we are gone?" Jack asks excitedly.

"Don't you worry about that. Leave that to me. You just need to get yourselves ready" I reply grinning. He nods and we make our way back to the house.

I walk into my office and grab some handcuffs and my wolfsbane injection kit.

"Rhys," I mind-link impatiently.

"Yes?"

"Come here."

"Fine," he groans.

I continue to grab a few more things while I wait for him. Curiously, I pull up the plans and maps of all of the pack territories within twelve hours of here and begin to look over them again. Surely she's ended up in one of these packs and someone is lying to me.

Unsurprising seeing as the lot of them are run by stupid Alpha males.

"You called for me?" Rhys says, interrupting my thoughts.

I look up to find him leaning against the door frame, watching me closely.

"Brother! How have you been? It's been so long since I've seen you" I grin at him, as I put away the plans.

"Step-brother... you saw me yesterday... and I'm fine. What do you want?" he replies, raising an eyebrow.

"Now now, always so quick to assume"

"Am I wrong?"

"No..."

"Exactly, so cut the bullshit" he smirks, pleased with himself.

I roll my eyes, my slick grin disappearing.

"You're in charge" I reply, curtly.

"Okay."

"Don't fuck up while I'm gone."

"I won't. I'm not that stupid, Zane."

"Good."

He nods, watching me again.

I glare back at him, annoyed at his lack of interest.

"Aren't you going to ask me where I'm going and how long I'll be gone for?" I spit, irritated.

"I wasn't planning on it, but now that I've clearly annoyed you, I'll indulge you. Where are you going?" he smirks.

I growl at him. Stupid kid.

"I'm going to find Acacia. I'll be gone for at least a couple of days, not sure to be honest."

"Why am I not surprised?" he replies, shaking his head at me, his smirk disappearing as he walks over to my desk.

"Fuck you, Rhys" I spit as I hand him the keys before stalking past him and heading to my room.

"Love you too, Zane" he chuckles, in return, sarcasm in his tone.

I shut my door and run my hands through my hair. God, that kid is annoying sometimes.

"His nineteenth birthday is in a few weeks. He's hardly a kid anymore, remember?" my wolf grunts.

"Yeah but just because he's eighteen doesn't mean he is an adult either" I reply curtly.

"Good point. Why is he even here anyways?"

"We are family, I can't exactly get rid of him."

"Yes, you can. You're only family because your father remarried and then got himself killed. Other than that, he's just another rogue like the rest of us."

"I know, but he's a good guy. Impressionable."

"For now. Just wait until he finds a mate. That's when shit will turn ugly."

"Apparently he thinks he already might have a mate"

"Oh?"

"Yeah. I overheard him talking the other day about her and I think he might've tried to bring it up with me a few times in the past. It sounds like quite a new revelation, like he's almost unsure. Didn't say who she was, only that she's not eighteen yet."

"Ahhh, taking after you then I see" he smirks.

"Fuck you."

"You know I'm just kidding. Besides, we've got our own shit to worry about. Like getting Acacia back.

"Very true. Let's go mess with some Alphas."

"Ooo, this is going to be fun," my wolf says chuckling. I laugh and begin to pack. Yes, it is going to be fun.

Acacia, you better watch out because I will find you. And this time, I won't let you leave.
