★ Three • You Baffle Me ★
Chahana entered the Agnihotri villa with a thumping heart. She was present there to meet Meira Agnihotri, but she was afraid she may cross path with someone she didn't want to meet ever again.
But now it was kind of inevitable. She would be joining his mother's party soon. She'll have to bear his presence in her life.
Talking about presence and he appeared in front of her out of nowhere.
"Is this my fantasies messing up with my head or he is actually coming in my direction? That too, shirtless." She whispered to herself.
"Surprised to see you here." Jashn said with an ignorant look and walked past her inside the house after his regular workout in the lawn.
And Chahana was left controlling her unfulfilled desires.
"Channa, control yourself. It's not the right time to have sexual fantasies for your ex."
Having a quick self-talk session, she opened the glass doors of the house.
The villa was surrounded by greenery and a tight security system, of course. So the door to the insides remain unlocked for the daytime as the main gate was blocked by security gaurds day and night.
She had just entered the living area when she heard Jashn, "She is my ex, Maa. She has seen me shirtless before."
And that was all it took for her cheeks to redden in embarrassment. Meira Agnihotri knew that Chahana was her son's ex-girlfriend, who had seen him shirtless plenty of times. Can anything be more embarrassing than this? Still she mustered up her remaining courage and made her presence known.
"Hello, Mrs Agnihotri." She pretended as if she didn't hear her ex-boyfriend's scandalous statement.
Which guy says to his mother that his ex has seen him shirtless plenty of times?
Of course, Jashn Agnihotri.
"Ah... Chahana, you are on time. I am impressed." Meira knew Chahana must have heard Jashn's argument for roaming around shirtless in the lawn in front of a guest. But she took part in pretending as if she was unaware of whatever Chahana heard.
While Jashn had left as soon as Chahana greeted his mother. Not to upset his mother more with this fake recklessness. He just wanted to mess with Chahana's hormones.
"Let's sit in the study room."
🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁
"Chahana, I hope you understand that politics needs years of experience. Not just a few months or years, but at least a decade."
"I understand this, Mrs Agnihotri." Chahana agreed.
"You have spent almost five years doing social work. What lesson have you learnt in these years?" Meira was looking at her keenly.
"What I have learnt is that the public is as greedy as any corrupted politician." Chahana gave her unapologetic reply.
"Well, you are absolutely right. However, you are not supposed to say that publicly ever. Something else?" The conversation was getting interesting for Meira. She liked Chahana's unapologetic attitude. She was quite proud of her son to date such a wise girl.
"Politics is like flying an aeroplane. The only difference is that the passengers called voters are more interested in business-class seats than their safety." Again a brutally honest reply that left Meira speechless.
"You have a very anti-public mindset, Chahana. Whatever you said, is absolutely true. However, it won't help you get votes."
"My looks will help then. Good looks can get you more than just Bollywood movies. Prime minister's seat is no exception." If she had said this in any interview, this statement would have provoked a controversy for sure.
"Again, a very anti-public statement."Meira pointed out.
"I am just stating the truth."
"Alright, why do you think people will vote for you?"
"I am good at manipulating people into my favour without using religion as an excuse." She didn't think twice before saying this.
"Well, sure you can." Meira could agree with that without any doubt.
"So what's the conclusion of this discussion?"Chahana asked getting all curious.
"That you are a smooth liar, manipulative, and cunning enough to compete with the male politicians." Meira smiled.
"Is that a good thing?"Because normally these words are not regarded as compliments.
"For a woman aspiring to pursue politics, it's all you need to be on the top."
"Thank you." Chahana smiled listening to her words.

Chahana was going towards the staircase when Jashn appeared from a room. The anger from earlier incident blocked her sensible side and she took quick steps in his direction and pushed him back inside the room. She entered the room after him and locked the door from inside.
"What was that?" Jashn asked sternly.
"What was the need to tell your mother about us?" She yelled angrily.
"She is my mother and she deserves to know about my past with you." He replied with equal anger.
"You did it on purpose, right? You don't want me enter your mother's party."
"Don't assume things, Chahana." He was trying to not lash upon her.
"I am assuming things. Of course, I am the one assuming things. After all, your plan didn't work. It made no difference to her." She kept on blaming him.
"I told her about us so that she could send the marriage proposal again. Now are you happy?" He angrily yelled at her.
And she went silent. His angry confession left her baffled.
Chahana kept staring at him for long moments before speaking, "You baffle me, Jashn. One moment you don't want to marry me, the next moment you are trying hard to resolve things between us. Now it seems as if you are playing some fucking mind game with me. Whatever it is, stop it. I don't want to hate the guy once I used to love."She had tears moistening her eyes.
She unlocked the door and left.
Jashn was angry on himself. So angry that he hit his fist against the nearby wall with such force that his fist began bleeding.

"Di, are you ready?" Angad yelled from outside Chahana's room for the sixth time.
Chahana had had enough of his impatience. She came out of the room adorned in a red dress and hit him with her clutch bag.
"Can't you have a little patience, idiot?" She yelled at him angrily.
"When will you stop hitting me!? I am not a kid anymore." Angad yelled back.
"I hit you because you are a fucking asshole."
"Stop cursing like a shameless!"
"Chaanu Di!" Ruhani came to them running in a beautiful pink dress, putting an end to their argument.
"How do I look?" Ruhani twirled around in excitement.
"Oh, you look stunning, Ruhi." Chahana smiled, her anger just disappeared in a moment.
"Where are you going, by the way?" Angad asked out of curiosity.
"To the whatever party both of you are going."
"And who told you to accompany us?" Angad asked a little rudely with his hands on his hips.
"Well, I told myself to accompany both of you."But Ruhani didn't mind, because she desperately wanted to attend the party.
"You are not coming with us!" Angad declared.
Ruhani looked at Chahana with pouty face.
"Angad, let her join us. It's your college reunion. I won't be familiar with anyone there, so Ruhani and I will stick together and pass the time." Chahana suggested.
"Di, it has a couple entry." Angad reasoned.
"Oho, Angad, I'll take care of that." Ruhani said confidently.
"How?" He asked irritated of her.
"I'll do something to get entry naa." She whined like a kid.
"Angad, let her come." Chahana kept insisting.
"Alright, but if they didn't let you enter then I won't be able do anything about it."He warned her for the last time.
"Okay." She readily agreed.
🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁
"I had told you they won't let her enter." Angad whispered angrily to his sister in the hall full of guests.
Chahana looked around the party suspiciously. It didn't look like a college reunion, but a business party. She could recognise some of the prominent businessmen of Awadh scattered here and there.
"It doesn't look like a college reunion." She whispered to herself.
But Angad heard her. So he quickly made an excuse,"Di, I saw a friend. You wait, I'll go and meet him."
And he disappeared into the crowd of guests.
Chahana was already getting bored. So she moved to the bar section. She took a seat there and ordered a soft drink.
But all of a sudden she heard a voice.
"Excuse me, a glass of Whisky please."
It was a very oddly familiar voice.
She turned to look at the owner of the voice and was surprised to see a guy she vaguely remembered as Jashn's cousin.
"Jodhbir!"
The guy looked at her and kept looking. He was trying to remember why the woman looked so familiar. And when he did remember, a smile broke on his face.
"Chahana!"
He moved towards her and gave her a side hug.
"It's been so long. We never crossed paths after..."He trailed off.
"After Jashn broke up with me." She completed his sentence.
"Yeah, but seems like both of you are back together." He smiled.
"No. At least, not yet." She shrugged, but she liked the idea of patching up with Jashn. However, she knew her ego will never let that happen.
"Then how are you here?" Now his question confused her. Is she banned from attending parties simply because her asshole lover left her?
"It's my brother's college reunion."She replied, feeling stupid.
And Jodhbir began laughing.
"Why are you laughing?" She asked.
"Because this isn't a college reunion, but a business party. Specifically Jashn's business party."
Chahana's eyes widened in shock. If Jodhbir was right, then that means her little brother tricked her. Again. And she was going to kill him.
But her phone interrupted. It was Ruhani.
"Yes, Ruhani?"
"Di, please get me inside. I don't want to spend the whole time lurking around the parking." Ruhani whined like the kid she is.
"Okay, I'll do something." Chahana had to agree. She couldn't leave her baby sister alone outside. And she knew what exactly she needed to do.
"Jodhbir, it's Jashn's party. Does that implies that the gaurds outside are familiar with you? That you are their boss's cousin." She asked.
"I am positive about that." He nodded, curious about what exactly she was going to bring up.
"So... can you please bring my cousin in?" She requested with uncertainty.
Jodhbir immediately responded, "No problem. Well, I knew, this couple entry thing would be troublesome. But Sanaya Garewal doesn't care."
"Who's that?" She asked, the name was totally unfamiliar to her.
"If you see a girl clinging to Jashn's side, then just know it's Sanaya Garewal. The third string in your love story. But don't worry, my cousin is all yours. And I am damn sure that you'll be my future niece and nephew's mother." Saying so, he gave her an encouraging smile before leaving to fetch her cousin.
"Strange guy." Because Jodhbir was too much talkative for her liking. Yet she couldn't deny that he was as good as... umm... good.
But at that moment she needed to find her traitor of a brother, who tricked her into coming to the party for God knows what reasons.
"Angad, you are as good as dead."
Well, Angad already knew that. That's why, he already hid himself somewhere Chahana could never find him.
Gent's restroom.
🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁
Chahana was trying to find Angad. But it seemed like her brother vanished into the thin air. He was nowhere to be found.
She was passing by a small group of business associates when suddenly one of them turned around, accidentally spilling the content of his glass on her pretty red dress in the process.
"Oh, my-" Chahana shrieked and looked at the person who ruined her dress.
And guess, who was he?
"Jashn! Are you blind?" Looking at him just made her mood worse. She yelled at him as if he did the blunder intentionally.
"I swear, I didn't mean to ruin your dress. I was just turning around, my arm hit yours and the drink, well, fell on your dress." Jashn tried to explain, Chahana's angry face just made him forget the powerful businessman he was.
"But the conclusion is that you ruined my dress. Do you know how special this dress is to me?"
"Of course, I know. This is the same dress you wore on the prom night when we..." But he stopped in the middle, realising what exactly he was about to say out loud among the guests.
Chahana's face paled. But she sighed in relief when he stopped mid-sentence.
Both of them got silent for a while.
"Umm... you should clean it. I'll show you the way." He suggested while rubbing the back of his head.
Chahana was flustered enough to not argue or deny the offer. So she quietly followed him.
As she walked behind him, she realised that he wasn't taking her to the ladies restroom. The corridor led to suites. Yet she didn't stop him.
She very well knew that nothing like she was imagining would happen. Still, she couldn't help the excitement building inside her.
Jashn opened a random suite with a key that he pulled out from his coat.
"How do you have a key to this suite?" Chahana asked out of curiosity.
"It's my hotel and I always keep a master key with myself."He replied while entering the suite.
"Well, that's creepy. What if you opened a random door one day and found a couple having sex?" She thought of a possibility while eyeing the suite with a look of admiration.
"That would be arousing, to be honest. I have never seen live sex." His statement made her glare at him.
"What? I was only sharing my opinion." He shrugged nonchalantly.
Chahana shook her head at him and went to the ensuite.
"Should I arrange fresh clothes for you?" Jashn asked before she shut the door.
"That would be a favour." He heard her fading voice from the inside.
He quickly made a call to his secretary,
"Hello, Surabhi, arrange a dress for a woman about five feet, two inches tall and slim figure. And be quick." Saying so he cut the call.
Minutes passed and Chahana exited the ensuite in a fluffy white bathrobe. She looked like a polar bear in that robe. And Jashn wanted to cuddle with the polar bear standing in front of him. He wanted to push that robe off her pretty body and make love to her all night, just like that prom night eight years ago. When they lost their virginity to each other.
Chahana could feel his eyes roaming on her body. It made her heartbeat rise. She could clearly guess what exactly was going on in his dirty mind.
"Don't look at me like this." She mumbled while sitting on the bed and covered herself with duvet.
"Like what?" Jashn asked, pretending to be confused.
"Like you want to have sex with me." Her reply was blunt. Of course, he wanted to bang her all night. Because she wanted the same. However, ex-lovers don't do that.
Jashn smirked and moved closer to the edge of the bed. He bent down to her level, making her heart beat at the speed of a bullet train.
"I want to have sex with you. Do you?"
He was so close to her. For a moment, saying yes seemed a very convenient option. Her senses were blocked by his scent. However, ex-lovers don't do that. So she pushed him away with all her might.
"That's not gonna happen. Stay in your limits." She pulled the duvet till her chest.
"You'll regret it later, Channa." He said, and he was right.
"I don't care." She replied stubbornly, "And by the way, I prefer celibacy over STD."
"So sure that I became a playboy after you?" He asked with mixed emotions on his face. He was amused, angry and hurt all at once.
"Well, partially." She nodded.
He kept quiet, because there was no need for words. His silence made it clear. And the way he kept looking at her, with an expression of disappointment, it made her feel guilty. But she kept quiet, not willing to apologise for judging him wrong.
The uncomfortable silence was ended with the ringing of doorbell from outside the suite. Jashn quickly went to open the door as most probably it was his secretary with a dress for Chahana. And his guess was right, his secretary was standing outside with a shopping bag in her hand. He quickly took the bag from her hand and shut the door after mumbling a polite thank you.
"Here's your dress." Jashn tossed the bag on the bed.
Chahana quickly picked the bag and entered the ensuite. And Jashn slumped on the bed lazily.
"By the way, the offer still stands." He offered loudly.
"What offer?" She asked at the same pitch.
"A sleepover with me." He smirked.
"Sorry, not interested. Why don't you ask some other woman? There must be plenty of women willing to have a 'sleepover' with you."
"But I want it to be you."
"Then keep your ego in check." And she came out in a black knee-length dress. The shopping bag now carried her stained red dress.
"Goodbye." She waved at him and went towards the door of the suite.
Chahana turned the doorknob, however, it was locked. She tried again and again, but no avail.
"Why it isn't opening?" She asked him quite angrily.
"Because it's locked." He replied simply.
"And where's the key?" She walked to him who was sitting on the bed.
"Maybe in my pocket, or maybe in any drawer, or maybe under the bed or maybe... I forgot." He answered fiegning innocence.
"You are impossible!" Chahana yelled in anger and threw the shopping bag at him.
