002 : Swim Forth

Three Days Later

"Im expecting you two to be in your best behaviours. Y/n, try to keep your curiosity into a minimum okay sweetie? And Myra? No texting when we reach your Aunt Sabine and Uncle Tom's place."

An echo of 'noted' resonates the air.

It's been three days since we've arrived and after spending two days unpacking everything, it was time to visit some relatives.

Last time you saw Uncle Tom and Aunt Sabine was five years ago. Which means it's also been a while since you've last seen Marinette.

Twenty minutes later and your mother stops the car.

A little bell rings when the door's pushed open and like a harsh current, a sweet scent of, tasty croissant fill your nose.

You've only ever heard of this bakery and seen pictures too. Standing here to see the whole interior in person gives it a different feeling.

"If it isn't Y/n and Myra." Aunt Sabine utters in her gentle voice as she gives you two a hug. She hasn't changed one bit. "Look how big you've girls grown."

"It's nice to see you too, Aunt Sabine." Myra smiles politely. Uncle Tom suddenly pops up beside her with a plate of croissant. "Snacks girls?"

You don't think twice and dive in. "Don't mind if I do."

When you get a taste of the food, it's like heaven. Uncle Tom releases a chuckle when you grab another one. "Im glad you enjoy them."

"These are amazing." You talk with your mouth full and earn yourself a warning glance from Myra.

"So where's Marinette?" You mother glides in casually.

"She's actually out with her friends right now. Hold on. I'll call-"

"Stop moving for a second." Myra intercepts as she tries to get rid of the crumbs from your mouth. "I swear you still eat like a five year old."

"That's because you treat me as if I am one."

"How about I'll let my girls meet Marinette there?" Mother leisurely suggests. "That is, if Mari won't mind having them around?"

"Nonsense. She'd be more than happy to accommodate them. As a matter of fact, I'm sure she'll be surprised."

-

The park.

You've barely been here for a week and you're told to go to the park on your own.

Myra made a run for it back home the second she got a call from dad. Lucky for her, she's alright when it comes to using public transportation.

Aunt Sabine did say the park would be around here somewhere.

It should be huge right? It's a park after all.

Bada peeks his head from your sling bag, flashing his crystal blue eyes. "Do you know where you're going?"

"Aunt Sabine said to take a left, cross the street and then a right."

"That doesn't answer my question." The little kwami utters in zero mirth.

"Oh. No I don't." You look around when you stop under a lamppost. "Am I lost?"

"You tell me."

In a not so obvious manner, you glance down. "Shouldn't whales have this telepathic what-you-ma-call-it that helps them when they get lost?"

"This what-you-ma-call-it is called echolocation. And yes whales use them to navigate."

"Awsome. Can you use it then?"

Bada sighs and mumbles something you can't hear.

"What?"

"I said just cross the street and turn left."

Eyes sparkling, you gently pat Bada across his head and follow through her instruction.

After two minutes, a fancy park with a fountain comes to view.

You pick up a familiar blue haired girl amongst a crowd of people - you assume are her friends.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Go already."

"What if she doesn't recognize me?"

"I doubt she won't. And besides. Didn't she say she missed you last time you talked?"

"I guess you're right."

To be honest, you're nervous. It's been a while since you've last seen Mari and the fact that she's famous with her designs - you heard she made a killer custom for Jagged Stones - intimidates you.

"Listen, Y/n. I know Marinette will be thrilled to see you. Now go."

You take in a dreo breath and give yourself a nod. But just as you're about ten steps away, a loud explosion distracts your from Marinette.

There's a puff of smoke a few blocks away and people screaming can be heard.

"Y/n, you have to transform."

"Hold on. I just need to make sure Marinette's saf-"

She's not there. But you catch a glimpse of her friends running away to safety.

Where-

"Y/n."

At your kwamis' voice, you narrow down your gaze and hide behind the fountain.

After making sure no one's looking, you give your kwami a nod and utter the transformation words.

"Bada, Swim Forth!"
