His Bunny-7
Happy reading 🙂🙂
Jaemin had started to drift again. He was a lot more quieter now and less livelier. He was not his weird self anymore and just smiled and quietly nodded and spoke only when he wanted to. Nobody could understand. Hate and negative comments didn't bother him since before, so why would it bother him now?
The Dreamies were already upset that they were now five. It was so hard to move on with the fact that they were six and no longer seven after Mark had left and now, it was five with Chenle leaving. Jisung had it the hardest. Not having him be a part of their regular routine hurt.
They were still six, not five. Chenle hadn't told them about it, no one knew why. They were six. They would always be.
"Can someone tell me what he's upto?" Jisung hissed.
"I wouldn't be standing here like this if I knew" Jeno shrugged.
The rappers who were a subunit and promoted together when time permitted. They were just halfway through with their song, Jaemin had just walked out of the studio. They all knew how much he loved his grandma, but it was almost a year. They didn't understand his pain, but they knew it was hard.
"I wonder how Jieun-ie's taking it" he sighed.
"It must be hard" Jeno sighed "did I do wrong setting them up?" he asked, sitting on the hardwood floor.
They were now in the practice room. They had waited back in the studio thinking that Jaemin would back, but when he didn't, they chose to come here. It was more free. More space gave a sense of ease and to be more free and not cautious.
"Hyung, you didn't do anything wrong. You did the right thing. Not everything can go off smooth like icing. There are some bumps and roughness. Time is the only thing that can help" Jisung replied, patting his back "Jieun-ie may seem like a kid, but she's strong and mature. They'll be okay" he smiled, trying to sound convincing.
"What were you talking about my girlfriend?" Jaemin asked, walking in.
"Nothing" he scoffed.
"You like her?" Jaemin asked, a hinch of possessiveness in his tone.
"If I liked her, I'd have dated and married her long ago" he scoffed, rolling his eyes "definitely wouldn't treat her like you" he spat.
"Jisung-ah!" Jeno exclaimed.
"What did you just say?" Jaemin snapped.
"Exactly what you heard. I'd not be engaged to Kyuri if I liked Jieun-ie" Jisung replied "I'd not dare to mess with Eunji nuna even though she's the sweetest person to exist" he said.
"This is all you know to do. Scowl and hiss and snap. Or literally do nothing and sit like a dummy" he scoffed, shrugging.
"Will you just stop it? Both of you!" Jeno said out loud, standing up "Jisung-ah, please" he pleaded, rubbing his back.
"Jaemin, he's not wrong" he spoke, taking his seat.
"Jeno, not you too" Jaemin sighed.
"Don't you think you're doing her wrong? All she ever did was love you, be patient and wait for you" he said "don't make me and Dami regret setting her up with you" he said, his voice laced with a little bit of regret.
"I would never" Jaemin said, his eyes softening a little.
But, has he already not?
"Do you think so?" Jisung asked "don't you think she could've walked off on your one month old relationship when you just went AWOL? But instead, what did she do?" he kept throwing questions.
"I.." Jaemin looked so lost.
"Hyung, talk to us. Don't bottle it up. Please" he said, pleading holdings arm. He was now calm.
Jaemin was his favourite hyung, just like how he was Jaemin's favourite little kid. Everyone knew it even though he never said it out. It was an open secret. Jaemin was the one who had taken care of him the most and he was very much grateful for it. But, to him see him suffer all alone, hurt him. Why didn't he want to talk about it? He was the happiest when he had started to date Jieun, his longtime crush. Where had things gone wrong?
"I don't know" Jaemin whispered, looking down "I don't know. I don't know. I don't know" he whispered again and again, his eyes welling up.
"It's okay. It's okay" Jeno whispered, walking to him to rub his arms soothingly.
"Things have gone so bad since my halmeoni left me" he whispered, choking on a sob.
"Hyung, we know she was the most important person in your life and the biggest supporter in your idol career. I know it's hard and hurting. It's almost a year, but life has to go on. You have responsibilities. You have people counting in on you and depending on you. Especially someone. Someone who's been waiting for you" Jisung said.
"Do you think she'll be happy seeing you like this?" Jeno asked.
"No" he shook his head.
Jeno's phone beeped "HES BLOCKED HER!!!!" the message read, which had his eyes going wide.
"You've blocked her?" Jisung asked, reading the message.
"How do you know?" he asked.
"Dami" Jeno replied.
"Why?" Jisung asked.
"I didn't want to talk to her. I just didn't want her to see me like this" Jaemin sighed.
"You think she'd not have figured it out? Like, that she wouldn't know that you're not doing good?" Jeno asked.
He really didn't know if he wanted to laugh out, cry or punch his best friend and pull all of his hair out. He wondered if his best friend was dumb or if he was just as clueless or if he literally was just, human.
"You guys need to talk it out" he said "before it gets too late" he said.
"I never wanted to hurt her. I promised her I'd never" Jaemin shook his head "too late?" he asked, confused.
"You know what I mean" Jeno said and with that he was already walking to the doors.
Dami was pacing about the room vigorously. She didn't know what she could do to stop her. Did Jaemin already know? Did Jeno tell him?
"Jieun-ah" she sighed.
"What?" Jieun asked, lifting her head up from her stack of papers.
"Do you have to go?" she pouted.
"I'll be back for your wedding, don't worry" Jieun smiled.
"But still.." she pouted even more.
"My dear best friend" Jieun chuckled, walking to her "it's just a week" she chuckled.
"My visa got rejected" Dami pouted.
"Good thing, no? And now the conference dates got preponed. You couldn't have gone anyways" she chuckled.
"It's just Zurich anyways" she chuckled.
"Don't go. You can still turn it over" Dami pouted again.
"Doesn't sound like you" she looked suspicious.
"Did Na Jaemin call? Or text?" Dami asked.
"Why are we talking about him?" she asked, her tone holding an angrier edge.
"Did he or did he not?" Dami asked.
"Bitch, he's blocked me" she snapped "what did I even do wrong?" she sighed, shaking her head.
"He's blocked you?" Dami asked, more upset than surprised as she pulled her phone out to text Jeno.
"You think I'd make up something like this?" she groaned.
She hid the fact that she had ended it with him. How could she when her best friend was so happy and excited, running around jumping with her wedding preparations. And also, not to forget the work load.
Or, maybe she knew. Maybe Jaemin would've told Jeno and Jeno told her. Maybe to not hurt and respect her privacy, she didn't talk about it.
Or Jaemin didn't tell Jeno either.
Two months ago...
Jieun walked down the street, carrying her shopping bags. She wanted to do everything she could to feel less lonely. Sooyoung had stopped behind to meet her friend, so they decided to meet at their regular cafe.
"Two more shops Jieun-ie" she told herself.
She walked in to see Jaemin at one of the farthest spots in the cafe. It was a big one. There he sat, her boyfriend with an untouched Americano in front of him. Water droplets from the sides of his chilled glass dripping down. She watched as people recorded and took pictures of him as he sat there, unbothered, caring the least as he just looked at his phone. He didn't even notice when some girls stood right next to him to click pictures. She gritted her teeth as she watched what was happening.
What was going on with him?
She walked to where he was as fast as she could when she a girl get to close and try to touch him.
She caught hold of the girl's hand that was about to touch his cheek "you do not touch what's mine" she hissed, her grip tightening making the other girl wince.
And that was when Jaemin looked up. He looked up with a glare at the girl who's hand was clutched tight by his girlfriend that was close to his face, making the girl gulp in fear. His features softened when he saw Jieun and she let go of her hand when he gave her a slight nod. The girl walked away with a huff, wincing as she held and rubbed her hand. She was not going to throw a fuss, she was not dumb.
Jieun took the empty seat opposite to him and just stared at him as he was back to his phone. Doing god knows what. Maybe gaming.
"Hi!" she said, trying to sound cheerful.
She could feel her stomach drop to the lowest put when he didn't even look up to answer. She then stared at his Americano and then at him. He hated it when someone touched his drink. She reached for it and took a sip of the cold unsweetened bitter coffee drink. It was terrible, she was not going to deny. But she put on a normal face, taking a few more sips. She looked up to see him already staring at her. He didn't look mad. But he wasn't happy either.
"What? You hadn't had it. So, I chose to not put it to waste" she shrugged.
"You can drink it" he shrugged, going back to doing whatever he had been doing.
"Jaemin.." she sighed.
"Tell me" he said, not even bothering to look up at her.
"Jaemin.." she said again, not exactly knowing what to do. But she was tired. And was losing her patience.
"What?" he asked, still not looking up.
"Look at me!" she snapped, her palms slamming her table, having had enough.
"Tell me" he sighed, now looking up and put his phone down.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you, okay? Look at me" she gritted her teeth, pointing at herself.
"What is it?" he sighed, looking like he didn't care.
"Why have you been avoiding me? You've not been answering my calls or messages. I even came to visit you at the company, but your manager said you'd see no one" she replied, her head low. She didn't want him to see her eyes well up.
"Yes, I didn't. So what?" he asked, sounding a little rude.
"Why?" she asked.
"Because I just don't want to" he shrugged, sitting back, crossing his arms.
"That can't be the reason" she whispered, looking up.
"Look Kim Jieun, I want to be alone and not bothered. The sooner you understand, the better" he said, leaning forward, his hands on the table.
Her eyes went wide at how he addressed her. He'd never addressed her formally, never with he last name. Something was wrong. Something was not adding up.
"Jaemin, talk to me" she said, leaning in to take her hand in his.
She pulled out a pair of gloves and slid his hands into it when she felt his palms cold as ice. They'd always been warm, she sighed patting the glove cladded palms. She had an idea that it must be his grandma, but she couldn't just bring it out. She didn't want to make him even more upset.
"Baby, talk to me" she said, losing count of how many times she's already said it.
"There is nothing to" he said.
"There is. What is it that's bothering you?" she asked, patting his hand.
She was getting tired of just asking questions. The same question and no answers. She wanted to smack his face, but that was going to be very immature of her.
"You" he replied.
"Me?" she asked, confused.
"Yes" he replied.
"How?" she asked.
"You keep bothering me" he said.
"Enlighten me as to how?" she asked, now frustrated. She was trying to fix whatever it was, but here he was, blaming her.
She hadn't spoken to him in three months since the date. Well, they maybe had a small date or two after. Nothing cute, just for the formality. And then he stopped answering and she gave him the space, again. She hadn't contacted him and she just by chance found him at the cafe. A total coincidence.
"Did you, like... block me?" she asked, almost sure of the possibility.
"Kinda" he shrugged.
"There's nothing for kinda in this. It's a 'yes', you heartless idiot" she snapped, but not loud enough for people around to hear.
"Whatever" he shrugged.
"Have you ever loved me?" she whispered, her eyes welling up and he just looked on.
Had they even confessed?
No.
"What are we even?" she scoffed, throwing her hands up in the air and he still said nothing.
"I was a fool to think that I could fix this. Have you talk it out. But no, you just don't want my or anybody's help and want to dwell inside that shell you're in" she hissed, pointing a finger at him.
"We're done" she said, getting up "good bye" she threw him a mini salute and walked out with her bags.
She looked at the bracelet she wore and scowled at it. How did she forget to give it back to him? Well, she was going to. Later.
She saw Sooyoung walk by and forced up a smile, walking to her.
"It's too crowded there" she said.
"Really? How?" Sooyoung looked confused.
"It is. I'm surprised too. I was standing for so long and got tired. My feet hurt. Let's go to another cafe" she said, pulling Sooyoung away and the girl just followed, saying nothing.
...........
She was now glad that she had not given it back to him or else it'd have been super obvious and crystal clear that they'd broken up.
"We met two months ago. He told me to not meet him again" she said, shaking her head.
"You giving up?" Dami asked.
"I guess" she shrugged.
"Sorry" Dami sighed "anyways, I gotta go" she said, looking up at the clock.
"Yeah, bye" Jieun nodded.
"Take care. I'll come to the airport with you" she said.
"No, don't. Concentrate on the wedding preparations" Jieun smiled and waved at Dami who was walking out of the room.
She still had to go home and get her things before going to the airport. Looking at her watch, she groaned. She was getting late. She was not going to have time for lunch. She was exhausted and was just going to have to starve till she got on the plane and was served something to eat.
"Can you go a little faster please?" she asked, leaning forward to pat the driver's shoulder and the old man just nodded.
She reached home and ran into the living room to see her luggage and bags there. Thankful for the staffs, she ran out taking one and the rest of them bought the other ones right behind her. It was just one big suitcase, one small suitcase and one bag. Seemed too much for a week, but it was going to be fine. She got back in, heaving a sigh of relief.
Jaemin decided to meet her at the airport. He had somehow managed to get Sooyoung to talk. He knew Jeno and Dami wouldn't, so Sooyoung was the only left out source. She knew everything that Jeno knew. Who knew, maybe she knew more. His car came to a screeching halt at the VIP terminal as he hopped off, tossing the keys to the valet as he ran into the departure section. He was not stopped, God knows why. He ran in like a madman looking for her and then heaved a sigh of relief when he saw her sitting in the lounge, smiling at her phone.
"Jieun-ah" he ran in and pulled her up into a hug.
"What are you doing? Let me go" she scowled, pushing him away.
"I'm sorry" he said, reaching out to cup her face, but she flinched.
"Keep your hand away from me" she hissed.
She looked around to see people looking at them and then pulled him into the room in the corner and pulled down the blinds. She was glad for this room or the else the whole world would have to witness their breakup and it was going to be news. She definitely didn't want that. She still cared about his reputation.
But why?
Don't know.
"I am not your rag doll" she scowled in a low tone.
"You are not" he sighed, raking his fingers through his hair harshly to which she scoffed, rolling her eyes.
"I'm not joking here" he said.
"Do I look like I am?" she raised her voice.
"No" he whispered, shaking his head, looking down.
"Do you remember that I told you that we're over?" she asked to which his head shot up.
"No. No! You can't" he said, shaking his head vigorously.
"Yes, I can and I will. I already did" she said.
"No" he pleaded.
"You blocked me" she hissed "what did I even do?" she asked.
"I'm sorry" he said.
"Keep it with you" she snapped.
"Give me another chance" he said, his eyes pleading.
"No. I can't. I am done Jaemin. I am done waiting. I can't do anything when you're not ready to accept a helping hand or talk. Did you think that I'd not know? Did you think that you'd be judged?" she kept throwing questions at him.
"Why am I even talking to you? What are we even?" she asked, her fists clutching his collar.
"Nothing. We are nothing" she scoffed, letting go after a few shakes.
"No" he whispered.
"I wish you a good luck in life mister Na. I hope you find the right person in future" she said.
"No. Please" he whispered, his eyes welling up.
"Goodbye" she said, her removing the bracelet that beautifully adorned her right wrist. She could feel her heart chip into pieces and she could do nothing about it.
"Jieun-ah, no" he shook his head.
"Here you go" she said, shoving it into his hands, backing off as she heard the boarding announcement.
She walked out of the room and he followed her slowly, stopping a few feet behind to see her take her bag and walk out after taking out her passport from her bag. He looked down at the bracelet in his hand and wanted to kick himself. He felt sick in his stomach and the urge to flip things over was so strong. The moment he looked up, he regretted his whole existence.
"Nu.. nuna" he stuttered, watching an angry Eunji walk towards him.
She pushed him to the wall and lifted him up by neck "I told you, I'd nail you to the wall if you hurt my sister" she snapped.
Okay, she was not joking about it "n.. nu..u.. nuu.. nuna.." he gulped, her grip tightening on his neck, choking him.
"Stay away from her" she hissed, letting him go.
She watched him breathe hard as he caught up on his breath, holding his neck, kneeling on the floor, loosing balance every now and then. She also saw the flawless skin at his neck have red imprints of her right hand when he took his hand off. She never meant it, but also at the same time couldn't care. She did feel bad for him, for the state that he was in. He was her little brother. But her baby sister was more important. She was going to keep her sister safe.
She also saw the bracelet he tightly clutched in his palm. A part of her wanted them to get back together. She knew how much her sister loved him. And also how happy she was with him.
They had to figure that out themselves. All by themselves.
"You can sue me and file a lawsuit for that" she said, pointing at his neck "I don't care" she quipped.
Before he could say anything, Eunji walked out of the lounge like nothing had happened. She had an upper hand with the cameras there being off, but he could still sue her with the marks on his neck and also with his manager as witness.
"I am getting my Bunny back" he said to himself, determined.
