Chapter 1

"I wouldn't wear that if I were you", his voice came from the other end of the room, I did not say anything, but the hold on my perfume bottle tightened, my knuckles went white but I dared throw a murderous glare at my oh so fiancée.

The sound of footsteps came to stop beside me; he placed his hand on my shoulder, silently asking me for a response. "It is the dress you asked me to wear today, babe." I said in a sickly sweet voice, he grunted, the hair which were acting like a curtain, shielding my face from him, were now removed by him. "Well then my dear, you look ravishing tonight." He murmured and kissed my cheek, his filthy saliva on my cheek, while I gave him my best fake smile, which he returned. Turning back again he walked out of the room but not before forgetting to remind me of how other women do their make up better than me.

The diamond which glistened on my finger, which once made me smile, now made me want to throw it away, it used to be the symbol of our love but now, when I see it, I see red. I snapped out of trance once I heard his voice calling me out again. His loud grumbles were enough to set me off, if I were impulsive. But I am waiting, waiting for the time to strike when I can finally be myself. A bitter smile graces my red painted lips, as I finish spraying perfume on my wrist.

Hand in hand we walk, sweet notions of love, our eyes doing all the talks. People looked at us and said they are goals, they said I am living the Cinderella life with prince charming by my side and a kingdom by his side. I give them my famous, thoroughly practiced fake smile, they fall for it. They fall for the person who I wanted them to think I am. The person who is blinded in love with their dear Troy.

"oh Winny, look at you, you look so beautiful my dear." Troy's mother came up to me, embracing me in a warm hug. Even with her strands of grey hair and wrinkly skin, the youthfulness in her eyes never went away. "So do you, Veronica", I smiled genuinely.

We were at Troy's childhood home for dinner. Veronica insists on having a family dinner once every month, she is firm believer of the saying" a family that eats together, stays together", I went to the kitchen to keep the dish I prepared for tonight.

I hear could deep laughter coming from the kitchen, a smile makes its way on to my lips as I whisper his name. A loud voice booms when I step inside and four pair of eyes still themselves on me. Troy's father, Silas, comes up to me giving me side hug and with that takes the dish out of my hands, eyeing it greedily, "oh my heaven, is it what I think it is?"

"Yes, yes it is" I laugh lightly at his antic, "your favorite - Cajun seafood pasta" he gave me another squeeze thanking me, before leaving me with him.

Blue eyes, piercing me with every step he takes, his gaze forces me to look through my lashes, I know I was blushing, I am not going to deny the fact. He tucks a strand of hair that covered my face - so that he could see me.

"Winter" he whispered, with a hint of smile in his voice

"Zavier" i whispered back to him. His hand covers my scarlet cheek, taking another small step, he kisses the corner of my lips, which then curl up, even more. Just a small gesture, makes my heart flutter.

The sound of footsteps, get louder and we pull apart to a more appropriate distance. The kind of distance which should be in between two people who are not in a romantic relationship with each other. The kind of distance which is appreciated between two family members. The kind of distance which needs to be between the fiancee and her to be brother in law.
