4: The Proposal.

The Pandavs along with their wife sat in their meeting room, waiting for the Maharaj and Maharani of Matsya Desh. They arrived shortly and took a seat opposite the Kuru family.
"You called for us, Samrat?", Sudeshna asked, eagerly. The pandavs looked at their wife simultaneously, expecting her to do the talking.

Draupadi rolled her eyes at them before looking at Sudeshna. "Maharani Sudeshna, I have a proposal............."
On hearing the Samragyi's proposal, Sudeshna couldn't contain her happiness. Her daughter, the yurani of Indraprasth? She was lost in her own world when Samragyi cleared her throat. "But before we proceed with any thing else, we would like you to talk to Uttara." Sudeshna nodded, her eyes shining like a child's.

"What?!", Uttara exclaimed on hearing her mother's words.
"Yes. You have received a marriage proposal from Indraprasth and we are accepting it".
"But I don't even know Rajkumar Abhimanyu and you want me to marry him?", she was distressed.
"Try and understand Uttara, Indraprasth is a very big and powerful kingdom. It would be an honor to be the yurani of this kingdom, wife of Rajkumar Abhimanyu. And the Samragyi has found you suitable. It would also be very beneficial for Matsya Desh".

"So my marriage is a political deal for you?", she asked sadly and walked out of the room. She usually never talked back to her parents and always accepted their decisions without questioning. But this time she couldn't take it. She felt like they didn't care. She felt like she was an object or commodity to be traded.

Someone placed a hand on her shoulder and she looked up to see her father. Virat gave her a smile and sat down beside her. "Putri", he said softly. "Listen to me. We know you aren't happy about this proposal but believe me,we are doing it for you. Do you trust us?"

Uttara nodded. She did trust her parents. A lot.
"So trust us when we say that this marriage is not a political deal but for your good. Your Mata always wanted you to be a yurani, the future Samragyi of a prestigious samrajya. She wants this for you. So, do you agree?"

Uttara was in a dilemma. This was her mother, who wanted the best for her. She thought about Matsya Desh. As the rajkumari, it is expected of her to do what is best for her kingdom. After thinking for a while, she nodded her head in agreement.

"No. Not at all"! Abhimanyu argued.
"But putr.......", Draupadi tried to pacify him, but he wasn't willing to listen. He stormed out of the room, leaving a worried Draupadi behind.
'Mata knows......she knows that I don't want to marry. Then why?', he thought. Draupadi gave a helpless look to her sakha, Krishn who gave her a reassuring smile before going to Abhimanyu.

"Mamashree, if you are here to convince me to get married, it is not happening."
Krishn sighed. "But why not? Rajkumari Uttara is a very sweet and caring girl. I have spoken to her myself. She is good for you."

"She maybe sweet and caring, but that doesn't mean I marry her. And if Mata is that impressed by her, why doesn't she get Kriti or someone else married to her?"
"Because you are the most difficult one to deal with. Your brothers don't cringe or argue at the thought of marriage the way you do. And sakhi has chosen Uttara for you and not for anyone else."
"But mamashree, you know why I don't want to marry".
"Yes I do. And so does your Mata. She understands what has happened and wants to fix it. She wants to help you. She worries so much about you and is so stressed. And don't you trust her?"

"I do", Abhimanyu replied, calming down.
"Then is there any problem?", Krishn asked.

Abhimanyu thought for a while. He has no solid reason to disagree.
"Fine. I will marry Rajkumari Uttara".
