Six
The muffled sound of the footsteps behind distracted Hee Jin. She turned around to find herself face to face with him.
Once again she noticed his taller frame immediately. He was still wearing the wedding hanbok but he had removed his hat.
This gave her a chance to observe his chiselled jawline and the straight nose for the first time. Her gaze travelled upwards to find her eyes locked with his grey ones. He was watching her with an amused expression.
In a moment she realised that she was gawking at him for too long and without meaning to she lowered her lashes to avoid having eye contact with him.
Lee Sung Ho appeared interested in his wife's scrutiny of him. He had noted her delicate features at the ceremony earlier but it wasn't that that arose his interest.
It was the way she looked at him. Her eyes were full of contempt and she was emanating a strength he couldn't miss to notice.
Surely she had something going on in her little head which didn't appear too little under the massive hairdo she had been wearing currently.
The sight of it made him chuckle causing her gaze to snap back at him and there it was, the hatred, flaring in those wine coloured pupils like a tangible force that could be felt by him.
"My Lord", Hee Jin tried to sound respectful as expected by any groom of Lee Sung Hu's status. She gestured towards the table laden with dry fruits and grape wine.
"Hmph.." Lee Sung Hu merely grunt to hide the tingling feelings her voice had stirred in him.
He was no doubt aroused by his bride. He made his way towards the table and sat gracefully flinging his cloak to one side.
Hee Jin started pouring the wine in a goblet and then with a flick of her wrist she added the truth powder in his glass, all the while smiling coyly at him.
Lee Sung Hu was about to pick the glass when he heard a slight thud and suddenly two figures fully clad in black appeared out of nowhere.
One of them placed a dagger at Hee Jin's throat while the other one pointed his sword at Lee Sung Hu.
"How dare you trespass in my mansion!" Lee Sung Hu roared as his hand moved towards the hilt of his sword but the man was too quick for it.
"If you don't want to have a corpse wife, throw your sword here", the warning was uttered in a no-nonsense tone.
Hee Jin felt a chill going down her spine. It had happened so fast. One moment she saw Lee Sung Hu tense up and in the other someone grabbed her from behind.
Hee Jin recalled the moving shadow from earlier and cursed herself inwardly for forgetting about it all this time.
By the looks of them, they neither felt any compassion for Lee Sung Hu or his bride. The blade was about to slit her throat while her hands were roughly clamped at her back.
"What do you want?" Lee Sung Hu inquired in a flat tone.
"Give us the dragon seal", demanded the assassin.
Lee Sung Hu laughed listening to this.
Startled Hee Jin looked at him and found him uttering his next horrific words.
"Kill her if you want but you are not getting the seal."
She felt fury rising in her veins.
This monster of a man!
How can someone be so heartless to ask his enemies to slit a person's throat?
She thought she already hated him to the core but she suddenly realised that her hatred could expand way more for this man.
"Are you really willing to make this harder for yourself?" The man asked menacingly.
When he didn't saw Lee Sung Hu bat an eyelid. He added in a leeching tone.
"Let's see if you say the same thing when my man here takes your wife right in front of you."
Hee Jin started seeing red hearing this lewd remark. The person holding the dagger at her throat tried to push himself on her as his knife cut the fabric of her wonsam.
In an instant, the shredded garment fell to the floor and Hee Jin was standing there in her red Hanbok only. Luckily the knife only managed to cut the fabric of the outer jacket and the movement also give her the chance to get hold of her knife hidden in the sleeve.
In his haste to rip her clothes off her, the captor not only loosened his grip on her hands but he removed the knife away from her jugular vein for a full minute.
The minute which was enough for Hee Jin to get hold of her hidden knife and kick him hard in his balls.
A startling shriek tore from his mouth as he kneeled in pain.
The first man spat a "You B****" but his own voice got muffled as Lee Sung Hu's fist connected with his skull.
Another strike from Hee Jin's knife carve out the skin of her opponent while Sung Hu gave a high kick in the belly of the other one.
In a moment, guards and servants burst inside the room that must have been alerted by the commotion. The two culprits were instantly captured and taken away.
Sung Hu's bodyguard, bowed apologetically as he said, "Forgive me master. I received the intel but I didn't reach on time."
"You should not have left your post Chul Moo", Sung Hu replied.
He gestured for Chul Moo to leave all the while looking at Hee Jin.
She was still holding her blood stained knife, her white neck had a thin red line where the knife had grazed her skin.
He was in a very dangerous mood. In two quick strides he was standing in front of her. She looked at him then and was startled to see his anger written all over his face. Without warning he suddenly yanked her head towards him as his lips came crashing on hers.
